The location and nature was nice, perfect for a family with young children but not very backpacker friendly. We stayed in the double bed cabin which didn't supply blankets or towels, no wifi, priced the same as the hostels you find in Christchurch or Auckland. The cooking facilities were average and the local caravan people made me feel unwelcome. The...

Our plan was to head off directly to Lake Tekapo upon touching down at Christchurch. However, as we faced some issues while collecting our rental car, we only managed to hit the road late in the evening. We were quite tired mid-through our drive and did a last-minute booking here at Rakaia River Holiday Park. The holiday park is well-located...

This place is a gem! The facilities are clean and well maintained. I loved the big communal kitchen with plenty of sinks and fridge space. I arrived here and the camp was near fully booked but I still felt like there was lots of room. Camp hosts Sandy and Glenn were incredibly kind and attentive. Glenn got me a power...

A very pleasant place to stay for one night or ten. Very clean facilities and a beautiful 'salt water' pool. Staff are helpful and friendly. Plenty of space among beautiful trees if you have a campervan or caravan. Within a very easy walk of the Rakaia River and also the town centre I have stayed here before and will definitely...

I moved into the Rakaia Holiday Park early January and I absolutely love it here. Not on holiday, but semi-permanent arrangement, I have been treated with respect and friendliness. It has not rained here this month and the climate reminds me of the sunshine Coast, it's beautiful. The park itself is wonderfully organized, well laid out, run by owners who...

Stopped here with my cousins on a long journey back to Marlborough sounds from bluff and I have to say I am disgusted by the treatment i/we received on arrival. Owners categorised up as riff raff Maori because I must have looked like I was on drugs when needing to desperately use there toilets on arrival(which she rudely refused) she...

I am not surprised that this person has reviewed us so negatively and welcome the chance to respond. After booking and failing to show the night before the group of four arrived in the evening with no apology or explanation but with some juggling we were able to accommodate them. The lady who booked in asked to use the toilet...

Close to Christchurch but also close to a railway line. Rakaia has an industrial feel to it and isn't the prettiest place in NZ. The park itself receives both road and rail noise - in good supply. It is in need of a spruce up. Water is hot but restricted. Bathrooms are clean, management nice but there are certainly better...

Thanks for your review. In the two years we have been here we have worked extremely hard to update the facilities, including many additions that you would have noticed in your stay at the park. There are still many things on our to do list, but the feedback and encouragement we have received from returning and new customers has been...

The managers were friendly and welcoming, the shared facilities were spotless and the kitchen well supplied with cooking facilities and pots/plates etc. There was plenty of camping space because it wasn't a busy time of year.
