A really nice set of Villas which live up to the photos on the website. A couple of pointers that we felt people should be aware of if they have not been here before. 1) The Villas are quite high up a very steep hill therefore the only way to get anywhere is by car/taxi organised by the Villas. 2) The food options are limited but we used the food panda app (similar to uber eats) and that worked well. That being said this would not deter me from visiting again, the service was exemplary and the Villas lived up to our hopes.

As cliche as it sounds, our stay was magical. My boyfriend and I were on a 2 week trip in Thailand with a large group of friends that happened to coincide with our anniversary so for our last night on Koh Samui we decided to treat ourselves with a stay at Sandalwood. Our taxi driver wouldn't drive up the steep hill but we had a motorbike that was able to make it, and while it was interesting with all of our bags, we made it to the top and were greeted by the nicest people I've ever met in hospitality. We found out that they would have picked us up from the airport or the bottom of the hill if we had called or asked ahead of time and even followed us to return our motorbike at the end of our trip and drove us to the airport. We carried our bags to reception and were greeted by name, with chilled glasses of juice and a cool refreshing towel to cleanse our travels off. They seated us at a comfortable table so we could take in the breathtaking view and enjoy our beverages while they walked us through the amenities and set our phones up with the WIFI - they provided a phone for our use in contacting them for shuttle services throughout the island, and described on site amenities like the Spa and restaurant. The owner ended up checking us in and made it feel like such a personal experience. You can immediately tell they take great pride and care in their facility. We were then brought to our room by the Owner (who had already had someone deliver our bags to the room) and he showed us around. We rented the Amarin Grand Jacuzzi Suite which was already cool with air conditioning and decorated with flower petals for our anniversary. The owner recommended we indulge in the Milk Bath from their spa staff in our own private balcony Jacuzzi which was 800 baht (basically $25 USD). We went to dinner at the on site restaurant Blue Ginger (delicious food, drinks, dessert, and great staff and views) and came back to our room with the Milk Bath set up - flowers and candles surrounded the bath. Like I said, magical. The balcony is incredibly private and has a 180 degree view of the bay below and the views were the best we had seen on the island. The bed was comfortable, the shower was hot with good pressure (game changer on a long vacation of cold showers), and the mini fridge was well stocked with VERY reasonable prices, along with complimentary water, coffee, and tea. We woke up the next day and enjoyed coffee on our balcony before having a wonderful breakfast at the restaurant (menu and buffet included in cost of room and had tons of options, all of which were delicious). From start to finish, our one night stay was incredible and the perfect way to finish our trip to Thailand. Our biggest regret was only booking one night at Sandalwood - we even considered extending our trip just to enjoy it another day. Needless to say, I would highly recommend Sandalwood for any romantic getaway and would be a huge driver for me returning to Koh Samui in the future.

I absolutely loved this hotel. It is in the mountains with gorgeous views from every viewpoint. It is quiet and relaxing. The rooms are large with an attached balcony that includes a drying rack for your swimsuit or hand-washed clothes. The staff is wonderful and friendly. Since you are up in the mountains and away from town and the beaches, you have free shuttle service to wherever you want to go and they provide you with a phone so you can call for a pickup when you are done. The restaurant is nice with good food and drinks and breakfast has a lot of options, including eggs any style, pancakes, and french toast. We were sorry when we had to leave; could have stayed here forever!

Our family of four had an amazing stay at this wonderful place and we felt pampered by the staff with their warmth and hospitality was truly exceptional. The villas are so well maintained, amazing views from your private pool and the place is well designed. The food and service (spa, car pick ups and drops, amenities, tour bookings, food and customer experience) was simply outstanding.
This place is recommended for families and kids who would like a personal care, private space and a five star service. It was great to meet the owner who shared his passion for this place and who personally makes sure that all guests are well taken care of.

Fabulous little place high up in the hills above Lamai Beach. We stayed as a family of four in a two bedroom apartment with a private pool and gorgeous views of the coast (sunsets were spectacular as were the electrical storms!) Our trip lasted 5 days.
The apartment was well fitted with fridge, freezer, microwave, pots and pans, cutlery, plates etc so plenty of room to cook simple meals and keep our water, juices and beers cool. There was a mini bar provided if you needed anything extra. There is a great sofa area where we watched films on an evening and the bedrooms are spacious with huge bathrooms with shower and separate bathtub. We asked for an extra bed for the children’s room and this set up worked perfectly for us. The bathroom provided toiletries, hair dryer, and plenty of towels for the bathroom and pool. The pool area is very well maintained with loungers, drying rack, chairs and a table. We loved lounging around our apartment each day!
We used Grab during our stay to delivery a few essentials which was really convenient. We didn’t need to leave our apartment much so thoroughly enjoyed the peace, privacy and tranquility. It might be an idea to rent a car if you plan on staying longer but for our trip, we used the taxi at the hotel to get around and this was enough for us.
Owners, Robert and George, and their great staff team met our every need from providing gluten-free food, to making perfect day trip recommendations, to finding the best places to find vegetarian food. We could not have asked for more from them. The breakfasts were plentiful and varied and the restaurant, Blue Ginger, was a tasty little find too.
This was a completely flawless holiday for us and we will return. Sandalwood Villas is a special place and I could not recommend it more.

The wife and I spent a week of our honeymoon with Sandalwood and absolutely loved it! The entire staff were so accommodating. The drivers, the front desk staff, the massage therapists—everyone was polite and eager to make our stay a pleasurable one. Very impressed as well with the added convenience of the driver services. We did drop off and pickups all across the island, some were free and others were at a reasonable added cost depending on time/location. This we supplemented with a one day motorbike rental from a shop near Vikasa to tour the island which was very enjoyable—NOTE we highly recommend prior experience on a motor bike before going into urban areas or off the main circular road, and the driveway up the mountain is seriously steep so be warned before attempting to drive there or when arranging 3rd party pickups. Classic Thai massage at the hotel was more expensive than other options around the island but probably one of the best massages we’ve ever had. Quality of the food was good, vegan options were OK—sometimes we felt the need to make veggie friendly variations of dishes, which worked out sometimes, also led us to venture out during the week to get some more variety and creative vegan choices. We enjoyed meeting the owner Robert, and overall the experience with Sandalwood was an intimate and private one, perfect for our honeymoon, and highly recommended for anyone looking for a special escape with beautiful views, suitable for both hunkering down in a beautiful villa or exploring the island with a lovely home base. Thanks to everyone at Sandalwood for making our honeymoon a special one!

We purposely left our visit to Samui last as I'd heard so many great things about the Island, I'm so glad we did. It really was our favorite destination of the whole holiday. When we arrived at the villas, the first thing we noticed was how steep the hill was!! Don't let this put you off, myself, wife and 10 year old daughter managed it both ways! Going up was an achievement though!! George and his amazing team provide a free shuttle vehicle, should you not have the courage to tackle the hill! There is a small fee for after hours use. The whole check in process was very smooth, we were given a mobile phone to use to contact the staff at anytime of the day. Whom were very accommodating and nice. The view from the villas are spectacular, and the rooms are maintained to a very high standard. We used the restaurant regularly and were always impressed with our food, the staff were very helpful and would always make things on request from our fussy 10 year old daughter! When Etihad cancelled our flights at less than 36 hours notice, we were understandably stressed! We were unsure of what we needed to do, and who to contact during the Covid19 mayhem, After a conversation with George (Owner), he got his staff to contact the Embassy in Bangkok, Etihad, and our insurance/travel agent. We were left to enjoy ourselves while the team helped us work through our problems. We decided to stay in Samui until we could get another flight home. The team upgraded us to a grande pool villa at no extra cost, and honestly made us feel part of the Sandalwood Family. It turned a stressful situation into the highlight of the holiday!! We were gutted to leave in the end, having spent an extra week at the villas. It really was one of the best places I've ever stayed, made even more special during a stressful time. I personally wish all the Sandalwood team luck, and hopefully they get through this testing time. We will 100% be visiting this wonderful place again!

Sleeping in such paradise and in a such gorgeous room, I couldn’t sleep better! We stayed in the Plumeria room. The room was spacious and luxurious. As we were on honeymoon, they decorated the room so nicely! It was beautiful! We could not believe how big it is and how many amenities it had! The icing on the cake, we had a small private infinity pool in our villa with a stunning view. impeccable and very accommodating staff. They were superb! They did everything they could to make us feel comfortable. The staff were attentive and welcoming. They go above and beyond to help all the guests. When you check in they offer you a welcome drink, make you feel comfortable and then explain everything you need to know regarding your stay. The food was delightful. At Sandalwood Luxury Villas we had the best breakfast in Thailand! There were so many delicious options that I can’t explain! Simply fabulous with different things on the buffet each day, and you can also order from the a la carte which is included! Having our own jacuzzi and swimming pool in a very spacious and comfortable room were details that made completely difference. The convenience of counting on free shuttles to the closest beaches and convenience stores is fantastic!

A beautiful resort with great views. We enjoyed the privacy, the large pool and amacing views from the 3bedroom Leelabadee Villa which seems to be the best choice in this property. The resort is a bit of a patchwork with a rustic charme. Some parts are newer some are a bit aged and i would rate the facilities 3 to 4 stars. You will need a powerful car to get up the hill. Our 1600ccm Altis made it but was at its limits. Food prices in the hotel are rather high and the restaurant closes at 6pm but outside orders are an alternative. The best and really nice beach nearby is the Coral Cove beach which is good for snorkeling, too. The hotel offers a free shuttle to this beach. A place to come back again.

We stayed in Jumpee villa. The pool is HUGE. 8 feet deep!. I don't remember much about sun exposure but im certain the staff will be able to advise you. I envy you. My husband and i hope to return to Sandalwood this autumn. Enjoy!!
We originally booked the one bedroom villa which looked very nice don’t know the difference between the other one. Make sure you get one that has an individual pool not the little community pool that’s right there by the reception area. When we got there they upgraded us to the three bedroom even though it was just me and my wife at the very end, beautiful views but a walk up the hill
