Detailed Reviews
We stayed on the third floor at the Lamai Wanta Beach Resort for eight nights and I did not want to leave. The attractive grounds are a cluster of low rise (2 and 3 storey) buildings. There are also a number of bungalows (2 of which are 2 bedroom) between the beach and the low rise buildings. It is very well designed. We loved the elephant towel creations that greeted our arrival! The lovely beach is a minute’s walk from the room. The water is wonderful for swimming. You do not have to walk for long, to get to deeper water. The beach is long and scalloped, but as the sand is grainy, the walking is aerobic! Fronting the property is both the restaurant and the infinity pool. We had all our breakfasts and a number of other meals in the restaurant and enjoyed every one. The coffee machine, with fresh beans, dispensing lattes and cappuccinos was much appreciated. There are over 40 loungers (in good condition) by the pool and on the beach, which was fabulous! The infinity pool was very clean, though it was only open until 10. Beach towels were plentiful and in good condition. There was some shade, under a huge malabar tree and a number of attractive beach umbrellas. The staff were friendly and helpful. The entire resort was well maintained and pretty.
Our room was cleaned daily and once you hang the ”Please clean my room” sign on the door you’ll know your room will be cleaned once you come back from the beach. We were pleased with the quality of the maid service. Our room was nice, with a fair sized desk and adequate storage room. There were coffee making supplies in our room, as well as access to a coffee machine in the reception room/library. We made good use of the good sized balcony with clothes rack for drying bathing suits and laundry. We were happy that the balcony felt quite private. Though we expected mosquitoes from reading previous reviews, I was delighted not to have to use repellent and received only one bite during our whole stay (even though I am a mosquito magnet!)
The hotel was very close to the town and all the action you might want! The only downside to our stay was that the excellent wifi had to be continually signed into.
This resort was excellent value and we look forward to returning.

This is our second stay at this hotel and we chose this firstly due to the location. It is directly on the beach close to bars and restaurants. The pool has had an upgrade since last time we stayed and appears to have been newly tiled. The pool is nice but not too big and can get crowded when you get a few people using inflatables. There is no children's pool unfortunately but the pool is open from 6 am to 9 pm so you can find a quiet time. There are some beds available on the beach in front of the hotel but I noticed people were putting towels on them as they were under the trees which was not good. The grounds are lovely as you feel like you are nestled in a jungle and the rooms are private but a little dated and on the smaller side. Breakfast was the same each day consisting of scrambled egg, bacon, potatoes, yogurt, fruits, toast, cereals, croissants and a couple of Thai alternatives. The staff come round to ask if you want omelettes or fried eggs etc but sometimes neglect to bring the order. An egg station would possibly be better in the restaurant. Also there is good cheese and ham but this is not covered and there is a problem with flies particularly round the jam jars as the lids are off. The staff are all very pleasant and accommodating and the menu is varied in the restaurant with meals/drinks available during the day. All rooms now have internet and you can watch Netflix etc and you are supplied with 4 bottles of water daily which is more than most hotels provide. Tea and coffee is available and a kettle in the room. Wi-Fi is good too. Maid service is excellent and I noticed the staff cleaning the beach too. This hotel is sometimes quite expensive on some of the sites but if you can get a good deal it is worth the money for what you get but don’t pay over the odds.

Booked here last minute as a stop over on the way home from Koh Phangan. What a great choice we made, set right on the beach in the middle of Lamai. Although it was sadly still very quiet in Lamai, there were quite a few restaurants, shops and bars open in walking distance.
We booked 2 deluxe villas which were set in a lovely garden area, one of which had a sea view from the seating area. The rooms were spacious, as were the bathrooms. The shower and toilet had doors within the ensuite bathroom/sink area. There was a large wardrobe with a safe inside, tea/coffee/water, a fridge, hairdryer and tv with Netflix, such a surprise. The beds were large and comfortable, there was a comfy sofa and a desk area.
The restaurant was nice and overlooked the pool/beach. There was a good choice from the breakfast buffet and eggs/omelettes/etc could be ordered from your table. The pool was small but adequate, as the beach and sea are so lovely. There were quite a few sunbeds with umbrellas but as things aren’t busy we had no trouble getting one. The staff were friendly and we would definitely stay here again.

This hotel is fantastic.
Lovely spacious rooms with a large shower and complimentary bottles of water and coffee sachets
Hairdryer in the bathroom was one of the best I've used in a hotel
Towels was changed everyday and the room cleaned spotlessly. The hotel staff work non stop all day even the guys cleaning the pathways and everyone is so friendly
Breakfast you have enough variety to choose from and it's all cooked beautifully
The beach towels was a bonus so no having to pack your own.
The pool had enough sunbeds so no fighting to get one
The restaurant menu had a great variety.
It's a shirt walk to the main street with ample bars and restaurants, you hear a little noise from the street when your on the terrace or balcony but once in the room and the doors shut its silent
The air con was great and was indeed needed.
We stayed in room 202 and to stay weve had a fantastic stay is an understatement
We will definitly be back

This was our third stay here at The Hive. We got a good deal but our room was up the stairs at the back of the hotel some distance to the restaurant and beach. The room was small but comfy with good air con and comfortable bed. Breakfast was the same each day no variation which was a little tedious and the nice cheese and ham were not available as on our last stay possibly to cut costs. Each day there was fried rice, noodles, toast, eggs, fruit, bacon, mushrooms, baked beans, tomatoes croissants, fried potatoes, cornflakes etc. The staff are all very good at this hotel and the room is cleaned each day with fresh towels. The location is excellent on the beach with a small pool on the sea front. I noticed that some of the loungers on the beach were being used by people not resident at this hotel and also people were reserving sun beds on the beach and at the pool at the same time. The hotel seems popular with the younger crowd or families and the bar area plays loud music which is not to everyone’s liking. On the whole the hotel is a little dated but well maintained and certainly worth the price we paid.

We had a wonderful stay as a family (2 adults / 2 children aged 8 and 12) in this hotel which offers many advantages. It is ideally located in the center of Lamai with direct access to shops and the market where it is so pleasant to dine. Everything can be done on foot. The swimming pool overlooks the beach which has the immense advantage of benefiting from an anti-jellyfish net. The beach is very pretty, well maintained. The hotel offers self-service beach towels, deckchairs, parasols and beanbags. The gardens are magnificent, very well maintained. The family room is large, very clean and very well soundproofed. No noise filters through. Neither from the outside, nor from the neighbors. The staff are lovely and very efficient. To resolve the slightest problem (a broken safe) or comply with a specific request (like booking a private driver for a tailor-made tour of the island ;-). We highly recommend this hotel where we stayed for almost 15 days.

If you love the beach, this place is for you.
Very comfortable sun beds right on the beach near a netted sea area so no worries about jellyfish or unwanted creatures!
Hotel room was clean and spacious. I liked that our room (602) was away from the main path so didn’t have people walking all the time. We had it cleaned daily with new towels. Room needs a bit of TLC but for a 3 star hotel, I think that’s reasonable. The aircon and fridge were very good! Shower as well was fine but can get some low pressure during busy times. Again, very normal in hotels!
Breakfast was small but had everything we need. I love eggs and had 3 different cooked versions so was very happy! My husband loved the different Thai curries they had each morning.
Bar was good if not a little overpriced. Cheaper places just a few minutes walk away on the beach. We loved eating at “the bamboo”. We did have some meals in the hotel restaurant and they were lovely. Drinks were nice as once you’ve paid for them, they bring them over which was good! We also sometimes just went to 7/11 for some drinks and drank them by the pool.
The reception staff were very helpful and offer a small discount when booking excursions with them. We booked to see the elephants and loved it.
For the price, this place is brilliant! The location is just perfect and the staff are so friendly. We had no sunbed wars but we are here in the quiet season. Saying that, we only had 1 hour of rain! Mostly blue skies!

In search of a quieter place after spending two nights in Chaweng, we came across The Hive Resort in Lamai Beach, nestled off the main strip in the most beautiful jungle-like setting on the beach. The room smelled wonderful when we arrived and the surroundings felt as if we had landed in a botanical greenhouse! The reception was so kind, allowing us to use their facilities such as the pool while they readied our room. The restaurant food was deliciously authentic Thai and Western and their breakfast (included in the room price) was spectacular! The staff were very friendly and accommodating, especially Phyo, the staff member at reception who helped us print out a few business documents. As digital nomads, we highly recommend The Hive Resort for its infrastructure (fast Internet everywhere, with outlets directly oceanside in the restaurant), its wonderful staff, food, and close proximity to the nightlife without the noise!

Apart from the seafront location on the beautiful Lamaï beach and its sea view swimming pool, everything else is sorely lacking in exoticism. Defective wifi, even impractical, it bugs every 3 minutes, dark and simplistic rooms.
Delicious breakfast, in short, very expensive for what it is.
The Lamaï Palace 50 m away is absolutely beautiful for an additional 8 euros per night, incomparable, a real palace 🙏

As there were no rooms available on booking.com we visited the hotel reception directly.
As soon as we walked into the reception the service & welcome from Witt & the team was fabulous. Quickly arranged our room booking for our return from Koh Phangan.
Witt arranged for our suitcases to be kept in storage whilst we travelled for a couple of days & arranged our taxi pickup from the ferry pickup. Nothing was too much trouble for Witt or his team members.
We had a lovely room on the 2nd floor with a balcony (508) quiet & bed/pillows very comfortable. Good sized fridge & TV (although limited choice)
Breakfast was a nice selection of fruit, pastries, bacon etc & Thai choices (noodles, rice, curry) with a wonderful view of the beach & pool every morning. Coffee from the machine was great.
When we needed to extend our room stay this was also done quickly & efficiently. Witt arranged for us to keep the same room for an additional 5 days.
Location is perfect, quiet but literally a few minutes walk from the main strip (restaurants & bars)
Alternatively there are restaurants just along the beach front with fire shows on different nights.
Would recommend and return if we visit Lamai again.
Good value for money.

We didn't but I am pretty sure its on the ground floor closer to the beach side. They looked roomy from the outside. Why not send them an email. They are really lovely and willing to help.
Thank you for questions. our swimming pool has completed renovation as a new look since 30 October 2019 please.
The hotel arranges pickup on request. Price was 500 Baht
Sorry for delay - arrange with hotel approx 600RMB per pax from memory
