We usually go to the Caribbean in January for some winter sun but decided this year to try Thailand instead. We stayed 8 nights in a Horizon Hillcrest Villa. The resort is outstanding and suffice to say we are unlikely to go back to the Caribbean again and will now come to Thailand instead.
Rooms: the villa is highly private with stunning view over the gulf of Thailand. There is no overlooking from other villas and no noise other than from the wildlife in the surrounding trees. Rooms are large with high ceilings and separate living area with large TVs that have chromecast allowing streaming from your own devices. All non alcoholic drinks are complimentary from the in room bar which is a really nice touch. Housekeeping was superb, always done when you are out of the villa and done to a high standard. The little gifts left at turndown is a lovely idea.
Staff: staff are very friendly and eager to please. Villa hosts give you a point of contact to organise any trips or reservations you need.
Food: excellent choice at the breakfast buffet; wide choice of western and Asian food at Sands and Edge restaurant and superb Thai cuisine at Saffron. Food and drink is of high quality and good value for a 5 star island hotel.
Activities: plenty of trips on offer, we did a cultural tour and a private boat tour (both with guide Joseph who was knowledgable, friendly and very professional) and also a Thai cooking class which was amazing (they even give you personalised aprons with your name on!). The Banyan Tree spa was also amazing. The concierge also recommended some nice restaurants to visit outside the resort.
Beach and pool: lovely private beach and nice pool area both of which were quiet when we were there. We would have liked a more proactive beach and pool service - staff immediately laid towels on the loungers and brought water on arrival but then didn’t really walk around after that to check if we needed anything. A minor quibble though.

The property is set up in excellent and rare location in Samui with full privacy on any places you go in the hotel. During this season of our stays you will hear Cicada singing all days and nights along with the sound of sea waves. Make you relaxing.
Not only private beach but also during the night time you rarely see any fishing boat come near the shore unlike others beaches where you will get unpleasant green light from fishing boats during night time.
Services here is top-notch staffs were all have attention to us all the time without us noticing. Giving us a privacy space while providing the best services at the best timing. Thats something I am impressed with all staffs.
Special mention to Khun May our lovely villa host was very helpful in coordinate for all matters for us. We are lucky to have her assisting us during our stays for 3 nights.
We will definitely come back to Banyan Tree Samui for sure.

The place is stunning. The villas are exceptional, all very private an accessible through a network of narrow lanes or foot paths, if you don’t want to walk anywhere a golf cart and driver will take you.
You typically book your table at the Saffron or Sands restaurant and ask for the cart to collect you ten minutes before. We had a Beachfront Villa, (B03) easy walk to the Edge for Breakfast and to the beach and pool.
The hotel did not seem too full when we were here maybe the effect of the Coronavirus impact on the region, but certainly no problems at the hotel (or surroundings) where the hygiene standards were very high.
One slightly unusual thing (for us anyway), was that it was not possible to get a drink at the bar before dinner, so you end up having your cocktail whilst sitting at the table, but we got used to it and adapted our schedule so we could have 2 for 1 cocktails at the beach or pool before getting ready for dinner.
All of the staff we encountered were very helpful, a special mention to our Villa Host Kate, who looked after us very well and our driver Pong who collected us and took us back to the airport and stayed with us until our bags had been checked in. All meals were excellent, high quality and good portions.

Beautiful resort in an absolutely adorable location. However too pricey when one can wander a few miles down the road for outstanding local food and experiences for less than a quarter of the price. First off, a little background about us. We live on Koh Samui. We are making the best of the covid situation and slowly making our way through all the 5 start resorts on the island as well as on Koh Phangan. We have stayed at many of the others, and yes - they have all been very nice (as one would expect from a 5* hotel) but the Banyan Tree took that expectation and smashed it! First off, the room. We booked a 2 bedroom family ocean view pool villa. Let me just say the pictures don't do it justice. The very tall (15+ foot) ceilings along with floor to ceiling doors and windows make for a very grand and spacious room. The beds are very comfortable with a wide selection of pillows. We particularly enjoyed the turn down service and the tasty cookies that were left every night. I enjoyed the room amenities, the lotions and shampoo smelled wonderful and I partook of many baths in the giant tub. Speaking of water features, the infinity pool is very big with a HEATED! JACUZZI! Before we arrived, I wondered, a heated jacuzzi - what, it's already hot here, we are in Thailand after all. Well let me stand corrected. It was very nice to relax in at night after the sun went down. Very nice indeed. Now to the great part. The people. From arrival at reception, to our buggy rides around the resort, the staff at breakfast, at the pool, beach or the gym where extremely friendly and helpful but in a tasteful non intrusive way. Quick to help with friendly smiles I dare you to find better service anywhere. Banyan tree Samui has set a new bar for me regarding hotels. This one will be hard to beat! I very much look forward to returning and recommend this resort to anyone.

The accommodation and facilities of Banyan tree is great. The service of my villa host (Richard) is even beyond my expectation in every aspect. He arranged a little surprise to cerebrate my birthday. But there was a flaw during my stay that has to be mention about. We stay at Banyan Tree for consecutive 2 days. I got a call from cleaning stuff In the morning(about 10:30 am ), she ask me if they can clean our room, i told her that they can clean it when we go out off the hotel after 2 pm,then we went to the swimming pool and the private beach in Banyan Tree. When we came back to our room, the stuff was CLEANING our room which make me very angry and put us a an embarrassing situation because we need a shower immediately. So i told them to stop the cleaning immediately. I don't know why this happened(maybe the one who phone me can't fully understand my words) and hope that won't happen again if i have chance to stay in Banyan Tree in the future.

This resort is wonderfully peaceful, even though there are few guests around at the moment due to the virus the staff tried to make our stay memorable and were all smiley and helpful. The rooms have a very nice layout, excellent sized pool and stunning views over the resorts private bay. Banyan Tree isn't the newest resort in Samui, however you can see that its had regular maintenance and refurbishment over the years, unlike some other competitors that look a bit tired, this resort looks spotless. The floating breakfast was superb! Highly recommended to get away from life's pressures and truly relax!

We bought the coupon to Banyan Tree Samui during the COVID period. Later we decided to upgrade the room with a charge, and then add 1 person with a charge. When we arrived at the resort, we were offered to further upgrade the room, and the charge was very reasonable given the previous upgrade we requested. The room we got finally was a family ocean view villa with 2 bedroom, one main and one small. Very suitable since we had 3 person, and it was located at the upper level of the cliff, so the view was really fantastic. The staff were really helpful, and very attentive, thanks to Nami, May & others I didn't catch the name. They even went out the way to help one of us to get to Krabi with very short notice. All in all, we were extremely happy with our stay, and wish we could have stayed longer...

We drove from Phuket to Koh Samui during weekday. The island wasn’t too busy however we booked Seatran Ferry in advance as per Villa Host recommendation who contacted us a week in advance for our preferences and help us manage the excellent trip. Thank you Khun Moss.
We had our jaws dropped once we reached the resort. The view from the lobby was so stunning...!! Friendly and warm welcome from Khun Pla(our best villa host), Khun Apple and Khun Remko. It’s very nice that they provided mobile phone for guest to use during stay with all hotel info including F&B menu. The hotel is doing great job in-term of safety eg. Providing complimentary safety kit(mask and alcohol gel) in the room, online menu, temperature check in all outlets.
The view from the villa is so stunning! The cleanliness and maintenance was great. I love the idea that telephone is outside the villa and the staff always call for permission to enter the villa for the guest’s privacy.
During the new normal, they offer complimentary in villa breakfast or it can be at the Sand which we can order in 1 day in advance. They always serve it on time. The quality of the food is great especially egg white omelet and bakery(croissant chocolate is best...I still miss it). Dinning at the Sand and in villa dining was tasty with excellent service.
So many choices of Recreation programme, we tried gym, Zumba dancing, snorkeling, paddling board and spa. The service was excellent same as facilities.
Really love this resort, value the money, excellent and personalized service. Very well managed and well maintained...well done! Thank you again for this memorable experience!

We spent 3 nights in a partial ocean view villa with private infinity pool. The location is absolutely stunning and the facilities are great. Our highlights were the view and the private breakfast delivered to the villa every morning. As most people stay in their villas most of the time the main pool and beach (beautiful private bay) were very quiet. Just a few minutes away by taxi to Lamai or Chaweng and with cheap little restaurants in walking distance, it allowed the perfect combination of luxury and local experience. Also make sure you try their signature Tom Yum and Tom Kha cocktails !

Sounds amazing! I am not sure about the orijentation of your Villa, perhaps hotel staff would be best to ask, but most probably sunrise 🌅 will be visible. I am sure you will enjoy it ☀️
