Detailed Reviews
Our only regret is we didn’t stay here longer.
Unfortunately our time at Outrigger was limited as we were only passing through Koh Samui, however we will definitely be returning in the future and staying here for longer.
We were welcomed at reception with the introduction to the hotel app, a convenient way to order items to your room and to book activities and treatments as well as making reservations at the hotel restaurant.
Our room was very modern and stylish which came with a JBL speaker I was able to connect to and feel right at home. The hotel had a colonial feel about it in terms of style which was grand with luscious gardens leading up to the main buffet and pool area.
There was a peaceful pool area inside the grounds of the main hotel with another pool, aimed more at families over the road at the hotel’s own private beach bar and restaurant.
The hotel offers a variety of activities throughout the day, every day, including: candle making, meditation, football and more! As well as a list of activities for children. On site is also a kids club and a games room featuring pool table, air hockey and table tennis as well as a gym and massage facilities.
The location was fantastic and only a 5 minute drive away or a 25 minute walk from the main Lamai beach area where we enjoyed cheap cocktails and excellent food.
As stated, we will definitely be returning here for longer next time so we can take full advantage of the facilities and activities that are on offer

Thank you for the glowing review with regards to your stay with us. I am honoured that your stay exceeded all of your expectations, what a compliment indeed! I am delighted to read that our colonial design, well appointed rooms and overall layout of the resort met with your expectations. Our pool area near Mala kitchen offers guests a more tranquil zone for guests whereas Edgewater is usually more popular with families and children. Thank you for also highlighting the number of activities and specialized events scheduled for our youngest guests which is often recognised via these forums. We are eagerly awaiting your return and longer stay with us at Outrigger Koh Samui Beach Resort. Kindest Regards Leah Matters

Hotel's Favourite
We absolutely loved our stay in this beautiful resort. It was a lovely little break away for myself and my boyfriend. We loved our room. We had a beautiful pool view from our balcony. The bed and pillows were just perfect 👌 we loved that there was so many different options at the buffet breakfast and the food was delicious! We loved the beach front pool and the restaurant did really good food. It was lovely to chill out on the sunbeds with a cocktail with a sea view. We loved the activities you could choose from, we did the Thai Muay Thai on the beach front and would highly recommend trying this one out 😀 Also loved the gym, it had cardio and weight machines so we could get a workout in. Theres a fire show on the beach every Friday and Saturday and you can’t miss this, it was brilliant! Overall we had a fantastic stay and we will definitely be back again, what a fabulous resort.

Thank you for the glowing review on your recent stay with us at Outrigger Koh Samui Beach Resort. It was an absolute pleasure to host you both. It was delightful to read that you enjoyed the views from your Superior Pool View Room. During our renovation last year, we purchased all new linen and towels to provide that cloud like sleep. Our activity schedule has a variety of activities including private Muay Thai classes with ex-Muay Thai champion Khun Pea. One can definitely stay active while holidaying with us! We can't wait to welcome you again when you are next travelling to Koh Samui. Until then, safe travels. Kindest Regards Leah Matters

We had a room on the first level overlooking the pool which was perfect. The room was small but comfortable and had everything we needed. Loved the clock as it also operated as a Bluetooth speaker ( I want one for home)
Bedding was 10 out of 10, super comfortable. King size bed with top quality linen and king size pillows to match. Towels, robes, liquid soap and body lotion were also of top quality ( loved the clean fresh fragrance)
On arrival had a warm welcoming from Norbert who helped us settle in and provided all the information we needed. The food was excellent and the buffet breakfast had everything we desired (never saw any bacon which wasn’t an issue for us)
The pools were clean and plenty of variety. The one near our room was very quiet so you could virtually enjoy that on your own. Plenty of sun beds and bean bags so no fighting for a spot unlike our experience in Chaweng.
The gym was a bit small but very clean and had enough equipment for a workout.
My only criticism is the beach, water was murky and plenty of rubbish in the water and on the sand. Perhaps employ staff to clean the sand a couple of times a day?
A special mention to Annie at the Edgewater cafe who always greeted us with a smile and provided great service throughout our stay. Good to see the GM Leah providing a presence and checking in on staff and guests- very friendly and approachable. Leah manages a well run resort.

Thank you for your time in writing a detailed review on your relaxing holiday with us at Outrigger Koh Samui Beach Resort. Your five star review is very much appreciative. Your feedback regarding in room features, bedding, amenities, food at our Edgewater Restaurant and breakfast at Mala kitchen is welcomed and appreciated. Bacon is available upon request with our Chef as we prefer to serve freshly cooked bacon with eggs of your choice. Please accept my apologies if the team did not share this information with you. Unfortunately, this side of the island during this time of year faces strong currents and wind which brings a lot of rubbish and debris ashore. All beaches in Koh Samui are owned by the government, not by the hotel and unfortunately there are no resources provided to assist in cleaning the beaches around the island therefore hotels must take it upon themselves to implement beach cleaning schedules. We have employed a company that undertakes daily beach cleans however at present nature is a force to be reckoned with. We issue positive feedback directly to our hosts, something very much appreciated by them in recognition of their efforts. Norbert is a valued member of our Front Office team and Annie of our Edgewater team who both constantly go above and beyond to provide distinctive service to our guests. Above all, as hosts, we strive to welcome and entertain our guests and friends with warmth and generosity. We do hope to have the pleasure of welcoming you again soon to our piece of paradise. Kindest Regards Leah Matters

Our family's stay at the Outrigger Resort on Ko Samui was excellent. We got to relax and make the most of the beach location and watch sunsets while enjoying drink and food service. The pools were frequented by our son, and both Mom and Dad enjoyed cooling down in the pool too. The Voyager Club was a well enjoyed too, with good drinks and snacks to enjoy while playing cards. Our son loved playing air hocky and pool, and the movie room was his favourite. Crossing the road between the hotel and the pools was easily managed with security guards. The whole facility was clean and well staffed. Our suite was massive and well provisioned, with lots of space for all to relax. The restaurants nearby were decent and reasonable walking distances to market to the south and Crystal Bay to the North of Lamai. Would recommend to other couples and families.

We booked a superior pool view for our babymoon. Last holiday before baby comes we wanted a hotel to relax by the pool/beach. Hotel has several pools, one pool is in the center of the rooms, 3 more close to the beach and to acces that area you must exit the actual hotel and cross a main road…
The real hotel has nothing to do with the photos.
The beach is terrible, dirty water and even broken glass on the sand, syringes, very dangerous. Piles of rubbish around this tiny beach, and the big surprise: a harbour (thai style, super dirty) right next to it which of course they will not show on the photos. The smell around the pool/beach area is absolutely disgusting and nauseous (also full of flies and mosquitos) The pool water is green due to mold, the water reciclying jets system were off and no chlorine smell at all, a perfect mix to catch an infection, i even saw pubic (yes pubic) hair floating. The hotel has been “refurbished” but basically they just painted. In the room the floor was dirty and taps they have never been cleaned. Air conditioning super outdated and extremely noisy. Shower is either cold water or you burn yourself. We had no bathing towels in the room and they took 20 min to arrive… floor, tv, taps, mirror, clothes hanger outside dirty and also toilet, toilet bin and wall close to it. size of the room is very small (not like the photos) and toilet is tiny, no space enough to put toiletries bags, they get splash… no privacy in the room as they all face eachother, to have privacy to need to close shutters and be in the darkness. Service trolleys running in the aisle from 8am non stop, impossible to sleep. No milk in breakfast buffet (they run out)
management offered refund which we took inmediately and left. Our holiday completely ruined we had to leave koh samui as decent hotels we looked at were fully booked or doubled in price.

Thank you Claudio and Eva for choosing to spend your babymoon with us in our beautiful destination, Koh Samui. Your feedback and subsequent rating has significant implications and is certainly not taken lightly. Thank you for allowing us the opportunity to respond and address your concerns. Accountability is something we do not shy away from and hence why I personally responded to your emails outlining your concerns. The issues you raised regarding the state of the neighboring Fisherman’s island in addition to the rubbish and debris washed up on the surrounding beaches is unfortunate, sad and certainly understood but making statements regarding a greater issue that you do not completely understand does not reflect on the management or commitments we have as a host. Our swimming pools are indeed cleaned and treated with chlorine by a pool professional daily. Upon receiving the emailed photo which referred to one swimming pool at the beachfront, I personally went to inspect and can confirm that the residue around the rim of the far side of the main swimming pool was from sunscreen. With a brush it was easily removed which should have been undertaken by my team earlier in the day and for this I offer my sincerest apologies. To read that the Superior room features, facilities, layout of your room failed to meet your expectations is certainly disappointing. I will address and investigate each one of your points further. Thank you for sharing. I do hope that you have the opportunity to travel to Koh Samui again in the future. Kindest Regards Leah Matters

We are about to conclude our stay in the outrigger (we check out tomorrow) and I have mixed feelings about the hotel, overall we had a positive stay but the hotel is not five star so come with 4 star expectations:
Hotel rooms
We stayed in a interconnected room overlooking the pool. The rooms are beautifully decorated and the beds and pillows extremely comfortable. However every evening the room smelt of sewage. We complained to the hotel twice and on both occasions they lit a candle to simply mask the smell.
Breakfast
The breakfast is plentiful and varied. This was definitely one highlight. Fresh fruit, delicious eggs cooked how you like.
Generally the hotel claims on their website to have ‘a great selection of restaurants’ this is not the case. The Mala kitchen only serves breakfast and is closed for the rest of the day. The Edgewater restaurant is located beach front. Service is painfully slow, meals are overpriced and the cocktail are simple dreadful (as well as overpriced). So there is one restaurant.
Facilities
There are two pool areas one located within the main body of the hotel is delightfully quiet (although very difficult to food or drink served here) the other is located on the beach front and have a great selection of pools, one slide.
The hotel is not beach front you need to cross a busy road to get to the edgewater bar and beach. There are however G4S guards helping you cross but a consideration with children
The spa: the photo of the spa is totally misleading! The spa is located in a room between the busy road and building site, it’s not air conditioned and has three beds with some dubious looking privacy screens. There are cracks in the floor and generally unappealing. There is also an option to be massaged on the beach if you’re happy to be massaged there.
Generally the staff don’t seem to have a clue what’s going on (this could be as I’ve learnt the outrigger has recent acquired the hotel) so they are still learning the ropeS. However everyone is friendly. lo

First time guest at an Outrigger branded hotel through a 10 night package deal which incorporated breakfast, dinner, free flow cocktails for 2 hours and a 90 minute massage. The hotel architecture is colonial style (just beautiful) and well maintained.
We took advantage of the gym on numerous occasions which was always clean, organised with complimentary towels and filtered water.
Daily breakfast was satisfactory and can definitely recommend an omelette from Chef Parn. Dinner at Edgewater was very good with a huge menu to select from and a fantastic barbeque buffet and fire show on Saturday evening.
Staff throughout the hotel are very friendly, accommodating and go out of their way to make your stay special.
Our room was spotless, daily water supplied with internet speed acceptable. The only minor gripe we had was the firmness of the beds and pillows .... just too hard for those side sleepers out there.
Overall we had a fantastic stay at Koh Samui and we will definitely be back again .... what a fabulous resort 😊

Really lovely place. Beautifully maintained. Housekeeping girls did a great job. Beds very comfortable and air con worked very well in the heat. Breakfast choices great. If you can't find anything you like there is something wrong with you. We went on a luxury escapes package and there was no drop in standard because of that. The twin room was not available as requested but this was not Outriggers fault. Special mention to Karwee who seemed to be at every meal we were at. He offered suggestions and booked tables and always bought the cocktails at an amazing pace - specially when happy hour was finishing. My only critisism was that the price of the alcoholic beverages was very high. That didn't turn out to be too big a problem as we walked down the beach (or road depending on the tide) to the New Hut Restaurant & Bar. Drinks there were amazing. I would definitely return. The location is a small distance from the main part of Lamar but taxis there are cheap.

An average resort, amenity orders took more than an hour to be delivered to the room and this was simple stuff like a bucket of ice or clean towels. The food was good but service at the Edgewater restaurant is very slow, they can definitely improve on it, it took more than 20 minutes to get 2 glasses of wine after having ordered, this happened regularly to most other orders. They need to employ more waiters to maybe solve this problem. I get the sense that because we booked a package deal through Luxury Escapes we were not treated like full paying guests, which is sad. The Wednesday buffet with fire show was great the food was good, the mains were a little dry however. Other than that it was ok.

Thank you for your time in writing and providing constructive feedback relating to your holiday with us at Outrigger Koh Samui Beah Resort. First, it was disappointing to read that we failed to meet your expectations with relation to delivery times and service at our Edgewater Restaurant. I have taken the liberty of sharing your feedback with my management team to discuss and remedy for the future. Feedback here is reviewed, shared and discussed; our intentions always to improve the stay experienced by our guests Thank you for highlighting and providing positive feedback on our Southern Thai buffet night, which I will share with our Executive Chef Din. Outstanding Resort. From arrival for our entire stay, this resort has exceeded our expectations. Staff are so friendly and professional, Rooms are spacious and well maintained, Beach access is so easy, even safety crossing provided at the entry to Edgewater.Food is five star standard and presentation of meals which are generous serves is outstanding. Any request for assistance is met without a problem eg.Shower chair for bathroom. We four as Guests highly recommend this resort and will definitely return.Choice of pools for Toddlers through to Adults wishing to swim. One improvement we feel would be to move Club lounge to a section of Edgewater as access to Club is too difficult for any disabled Guests. The only downside to the whole resort is the spa services which is obviously outsourced but there are great beauty salons and massage businesses just a few doors from the resort entry. Two of our group would normally spend quite a bit on pampering ourselves at the resort but we found the spa was a let down.A short flight from Phuket to enjoy this magnificent resort which is very well managed and as we come to Thailand for a month each year we are well aware of expectations. This has been the standard of the amazing Robinson Club in Khao lak where we have been previous Guests.Well done and heartfelt thanks to all the Staff at Outrigger Koh Samui Beach.

Hi, I did not hire a scooter when I was there, so I can’t recommend any place. As for restaurants - you might find this “weird”, but we dined at the resort every night. Dinner was included in our rate, and they had a great menu so we didn’t feel a need to explore restaurants outside the resort.
So sorry, I’ve just seen your question. I hope you enjoyed your holiday.
