We should have known by the price not to expect anything grand. But what we actually got was disappointing. Holidays are supposed to be "special" and this hotel is not. Spartan (small) rooms, hard bed, one pillow each, one mains socket in the room, one plastic glass between 2 of us, the wi-fi was completely unavailable on arrival (and not available in our rooms at all) and there was no-one at reception when we arrived. But to be fair - it's clean and quiet, and if you simply want somewhere inexpensive to sleep, it's perfectly acceptable.
We had a room on the second floor and although we could not see the water, we were very close. The beach was gently sloping and the sand was white and so soft. The water? Bellisimo. Room had a balcony and was very fine. the food at the restaurant was very good-for 15 euros you get a salad and first course, second course and water. Great deal and always verywell prepared, esp their pasta and soups. Breakfast came with the room cost and was expansive.
I stayed in Il Giardino for 2 nights in May 2013 with a large group of tourists with special needs. The location of the hotel is quite spectacular: they are small bungallows scatterred in a large lush garden (they even have a plot of forest nearby, extraordinary!), very close to the beach. Wild birds were lulling us to sleep and waking us up in the morning. The hotel has all the amenities one needs for a comfortable stay, including free WiFi connection in the lobby. Rooms and bathrooms are very clean, there is enough storage and I imagine that it would be a perfect place even for a longer sojourn. The hotel is within walking distance from the village and you can walk on the beach, which is fantastic. It was quite a cold spell for Elba in May, but all our requests (more covers etc.) were met immediately by very helpful staff and we were all very comfortable after all. We were also served breakfasts and dinners and food was absolutely splendid. Abundant choice of fresh salads for dinner, superb fresh fish, nicely seasoned pastas. Homemade tiramisu to die for. Very good choice of foods for breakfast. Swift and efficient table service, I was very impressed, as it is not that easy to cater for large groups. I really adored the atmosphere of the hotel. You can tell it is run by a family and it has a warm ambience of a family home. The owners have three adorable dogs and we made friends with little Spred :) All the staff was also very efficient in meeting special needs of our group. Overall, we all left very satisfied and happy. Last but not least, the pricelist is very reasonable and if I am ever planning a holiday on Elba, I will definitely try to book there. Thanks to Antonella and her team for such great stay and beautiful memories.…
Family-run, basic hotel located just a 3 minute walk to the lovely beach of Lacona. Rooms extremely basic but good value, especially half board. Service in restaurant very fast but efficient. Great service from family and I imagine it would be good for families. Thank you!
The hotel is loated in very pleasant area, surrounded by trees and even a little forest. There are more buildings in which all the rooms ditributed. Breakfast, lunch and dinner will be excellently served in the main house where also the reception, a cafe and a terasse are situated. Antonella and her colleagues - I assume most of them family - are very friendly. polite and give you the feeling to be welcomed.
