We went during Christmas period for a 8 night stay and had a fabulous stay at the hotel . It’s 4-5 minutes walk from Pria de Gale beach , and a similar distance to a very handy supermarket Apolonia and about 10 mins walk to the lovely Colibri 2 cafe that did amazing Portuguese breakfast and pastries . The staff were friendly , and couldn’t do enough specially Gracinda and Nelson R. My child had a little accident and the staff specially Nelson couldn’t do enough to help us , which means a lot when you are in a foreign country . Gracinda makes the most amazing Sangria and goes out of her way to make you comfortable . My daughter loved the breakfast there , we adults thought it was alright . The Christmas buffet was fabulous, we had a superb melt in the mouth lamb roast there. Housekeeping staff were very efficient at their job . The kitchenette is very basic ( no oven ) , wine glasses or even proper coffee mugs ( plenty of cups of varied sizes )and you have to ask for a kettle . Also apparently only one iron for the entire hotel , a bit weird that . This was all a minor inconvenience but the cons for us were the beds were not very comfortable, hubby and I thought it was too hard . Also for a room that was rather big, the telly was really small and the sound not clear . Also do not forget to take your own swimming hats when you go to the pool , we had to pay 4 Euros each for ours .Apart from this the hotel really is lovely, and a good location for driving trips to beaches on both sides of the coast .

First time in the Algarve and we feel quite lucky to have ended up here. As the reviews helped us, we thought we would leave our own.

We booked one of the studio apartments, which are very generous size wise and is equipped with everything you would expect, including some you wouldn't such as a food mixer. Almost all of the rooms seem to have to have a sea view, we have been on the top (4th floor) and the view is magnificent.

The staff are exceptionally friendly and communication in English was no problem. The hotel has plenty of facilities and is well maintained, my daughter has particularly enjoyed the indoor pool and the playground. The hotel has plenty of lifts and ramps and is suitable for those with mobility problems.

We have eaten at the restaurant, food more than adequate, if a little slow in coming.

For us, the hotel has functioned as the perfect base from which to explore. Gale itself is exceptionally quiet and it feels like we almost have the place to ourselves. The hotel is also very quiet and therefore we have virtually had a personal service. As we chose the hotel to have a quiet week away over new year, the hotel and location have delivered in spades. Gale is bracketed by more lively areas both sides and in the summer we can imagine it is a lot less peaceful (if no less stunning).

The beach is 5 minutes away and is a rather fantastic stretch of golden sands mixed with fascinating sandstone rock formations, more than enough to keep everyone's interest. For those that like to pick up shells, not to mention the occasional fossil, the beach will not disappoint.

Other activities are not far away, for example horse riding is just 2 miles away, boat trips perhaps 20mins and the hotel is close to the main A22 road which can take you anywhere along the coast.

The facilites are good and everything is kept clean. The rooms and furniture are slightly dated but housekeeping staff do a good job refreshing the rooms daily.

The best thing about the hotel is the service, any issues are dealt with quickly and efficiently, the reception staff are attentive.

Breakfast was varied with pastries, baguettes, juices, fruit, continental breakfast options, cereal, tea and coffee.

Facilities include indoor pool, outdoor pool, outdoor kid's pool, hot tub, a small gym, kid's outdoor and indoor play area, games area.

The Algarve shopping centre is about a 15minute car drive away. Zoomarine is a 15 minute car journey away.

The neighbourhood is very quite and relaxing. Apolonia convenience store is about a 15 minute walk away.

The kitchentte with fridge in the rooms is very useful as is the free parking onsite. A good hotel for a quiet, relaxing break.

The place where you stay on holiday should enhance the enjoyment of the experience, not diminish it. Sadly, that was not the case for our stay at Vila Gale Atlantico. The only real positive is the great location.

The room we got was sold as 'garden view', but it was on the ground floor, next to a loud road. It only had a French window, that we had to keep open at night to let some fresh air in, so we did not feel safe as it was close to the road. I think the hotel should only sell the rooms facing the front, and possibly upper floors, unless you plan on adding windows to the ones on the ground floor. Mosquito nets are badly needed, too.

The food at breakfast was average (apart from the bread which was good!)
We only tried dinner once, as it's overpriced and very low quality.
Luckily there is a kitchenette in the room!

The so called 'spa' is not a spa at all, just a small pool in the dark basement, no windows, with a minuscule jacuzzi that is half broken.
Needless to say, it gets overcrowded from 5 pm, despite the booking system. It is obviously insufficient for the hotel capacity. They sell caps at 4 euros each! We were chased away from the showers at 7 pm by an unfriendly lady shouting 'it's closed!'.

The wi-fi is unstable.

The brownish carpet is appalling.

Overall, this is not a 4 stars facility, but it is pretentious in how it presents itself online (the 'best hotel in Albufeira'?!!!) and in the prices.

The only good feature is the outside pool, which is lovely, but spoilt by the loud old music of the animation team. People come to Portugal to enjoy the peace and quiet, not to be deafened by amplifiers...

A really nice clean hotel with very friendly staff.
If your looking for nightlife and action this is not the hotel for you. However if you are looking for a stress free week away from the hustle and bustle keep reading.
Situated at Vila Gale about 15 mins from Albefeira its a very quiet resort with few restaurant's and bars, the good news is the hotel food is excellent and really competitively priced, the drinks around the pool area are also good value, make sure you check out Gracindas Sangria, at 12.5 euros it has to be the best presented jug I have ever had the pleasure of drinking, she takes great pride in making them visually special. there is also a great kiddies pool area.
You can take your own drinks to the pool providing there is no glass.
just outside the pool gate turn left and walk about 500 yards and there is a fantastic supermarket crammed with everything you need.
Again out of the pool gate walk straight ahead and the beach is a five minute walk down the slope and if you enjoy walking then when you get to the beach turn right and you can walk into Armacao de Pera Nascente, this place is packed with bars and restaurants. about an hours walk along the beach.
Close to the hotel just around the corner from the beach is a pizza restaurant and small café , both have good menus. opposite reception on the main road is planet fusion that also does food and drink at great prices.
Hope you find this helpful

Just back from a wonderful holiday at this fantastic hotel. Everything from check in to check out 7 days later has been great. The junior suite we were in on the 4th floor was enormous with a decent sized balcony overlooking the pool and the sea. Rooms were cleaned, beds made and bins emptied every day, and we found all the staff to be so friendly and helpful. The air conditioning worked fantastically! Food-wise, there is a massive selection of food in the breakfast and dinner buffets, including themed nights such as Brazilian night meals or seafood night.

The outside pool was warm with plenty of sun loungers and umbrellas (plus a big tree too sit under for those who prefer the shade) and the kids pool was good fun too. Lots of activities every day including basketball competitions, bouncy castle, and painting in the kids club. There’s also a trampoline and some football goals for impromptu games of football.

There is a really well stocked supermarket 3 minutes walk away, which also sells beach toys such as balls, buckets and spades and flip flops. We found that if we turned left at the beach we came across a gorgeous expanse of little caves and rock pools which kept us entertained for hours.

We struck gold with this hotel and will hopefully return in the future!

The location of the hotel is close to a lovely beach. It is on a bus route to take you to old town but the bus drove straight past us so we got an Uber, which is only around €9. I was travelling with my mum for a special birthday and I had asked previously for a room with a nice view but we were put in the basement opposite a noisy games room in a very dated room. They did offer to move us two days later but we had activities booked and didn’t want to repack just for another two nights. They did put wine in our room on her birthday which was a nice gesture but did not make up for the rude treatment when we arrived. We had a horrible transfer which dumped us on the street outside the hotel late at night. The reception is also the party room and there was very loud music when we arrived. We were given no information and couldn’t hear directions to the room (there is confusing numbering, the basement rooms have the prefix 0 which wasn’t made clear at all so I tried to get into a first floor room, the receptionist was very rude to me when I went back).
The breakfast is just ok, the guy making omelettes is not friendly at all but the team who check you in are lovely. I’d like to see more healthy options rather than fruit in syrup.
Pack your own pool towels as there’s never anyone around the spa to hand these out,
It’s definitely not a 4* hotel.

We are currently staying here for a last minute week long break to the sun booked via Jet2 holidays. The weather is glorious! The hotel’s location is exactly what we were looking for. It’s in a beautiful, quiet village, a short walk to a lovely beach as well as a well stocked supermarket a few minutes stroll away too. The transfer was around an hour with 5/6 stops before ours. On arrival a very large group of (rude) French travellers had just arrived ahead of us and were commandeering the whole reception area, literally pushing you and your baggage out the way. The young gentleman who checked us in handled this well and our room was ready on arrival. We are in a junior suite with sea view on a half board basis. The room is a great space for two adults and two children. The kitchenette is handy particularly the full size fridge. The two single sofa beds are a little hard but not a big issue. The breakfast is grand and a typical selection. The evening meal seems to cater for a more European market as does the whole hotel in general. The dining room lacks space and is noisy when busy. Whilst the food is very fresh, items disappear quickly limiting choices at times. This is particularly noticeable on the nights the large tour group are in. Breakfast is served from 07:30 and dinner at 19:00 which is a little late for our wee ones. The general hotel facilities are good and our girls are loving the splash pool and play area. The pool bar staff are very friendly and the snacks and drinks aren’t too expensive. Entertainment is as per the photos this week. I’d certainly return to the hotel but would book bed and breakfast only. If you are looking for a very restful and relaxing break in a quiet wee place this ticks the box.

Vila Gale Atlantico it was okay, the apartment was spacious, not well equipped, e.g. no kettle or mugs, Watch out they leave bottles of water for you and charge you for them at the end of the week. The transport arranged by the hotel failed to turn up a mistake by the taxi company but it left me at the mercy of the airport taxis, they did us a half price fare back to the airport though €25. You need transport here if you want to go further, there is a bus service but they are very infrequent. We did have an excellent electric bike tour with N-Bike and went horse riding which is a half hour walk away. They charge by the minute for the use of the pool tables. There is a Apolonia supermarket about 5 minutes walk away and they had everything we needed, the selection of cakes was great.
So it appears that our trip to Portugal will be our last with RCI. We have so many points that we have religiously extended to the point where it is just getting cost prohibitive to extend any further.

After a long day travelling with our baby we arrived at the hotel at 4.40pm to be told our ‘room wasn’t ready’ (check-in was meant to be 3pm). No explanation was offered and we were told to ‘keep coming back’ to see when it would be ready. I explained we needed to change and feed our baby and for us to ‘keep coming back’ at seemingly random intervals really didn’t work. After 5pm our room still wasn’t ready so we ended up having to change ourselves and our baby in reception and leave the hotel to try and find some food.

I’ve never been to a hotel where you couldn’t check in on time, let alone 2 + hours late with a baby. The gentlemen on reception once we explained our displeasure was apologetic but the most frustrating thing has been that since our booking we’ve emailed both the general manager and HR and neither have had the decency to even acknowledge our complaint.

Best to ask the hotel direct, they don’t seem to answer here. For recommendations outside of hotel, (which will be a lot cheaper), ask on the Tripadvisor travel forum. Galé is a very quiet area in winter, most restaurants are closed for winter, so you’ll probably have to travel into town.

I'd guess around 8 to 10pm. We were there November, '19 and the weather was mild, but only a few hardcore folks using the pool. Saw no one in the hot tub. Enjoy. This is a great place to visit.

Hi I’m afraid we didn’t have kids with us but there is a separate pool and area for kids and their parents. They also seemed to have different things on for kids but I don’t know if they have anything at this time of year. They are very nice there so I’d email them and ask.
