I give them one star for the bartender Timothy, and one star for the view. Upon arrival on Friday, we were met with an unfriendly desk person. Went directly to the spa to see the facilities and were impressed. We made the mistake in assuming...More

Hello Mark, your questions are very valid and worth pursuing. Contrary to what DevonPam believes, my previous 'bad review' does not mean we are people who expect 5-star luxury at a cut price. We have traveled all over the world, dozens of times to the Caribbean so we know how diverse accommodations can be. Plain and simple, this property is an adequate place to sleep, nothing more.
That said, I would not go with the all-inclusive option because it is not the same as any other all-inclusive resort - there is not any service staff, not prepared food and we never saw a bartender at the pool bar. In fact, it was NEVER open.
In addition, there are lots of great local places to meet local folks and try their home cooked food at their family run restaurants.
Le Grand Courlan is anything BUT grand. Very inexpensive accommodations - but spend your meal money somewhere else. Do not reward these folks for inept service. BTW, we were told that they also own the neighboring Grafton property - which is also in disrepair.
