It's a rural hotel, meaning there is no staff. A bit deserted with very little atmosphere. Breakfast was disappointing with no fruit, very little choice, poor presentation, no ambiance and very old school music. This was for us the most expensive of our hotels in La Gomera (sometimes not much choice) but we got the poorest service here. Agulo is a nice town, but I would not recommend staying there. Absolutely nothing to do.

Response from Casa Lugo H, Propietario at Hotel Rural Casa Lugo
Responded 23 Nov 2019
Dear Mr. DrTomvdb: Thank you for your stay, which we doubt, because you don't even say your real name and hide behind a code name. As for your opinion, we comment: You must be confused of accommodation or not being honest at all because: Hotel Rural Casa Lugo has 10 rooms and has staff to assist you normally on arrival and our normal reception schedule as announced is from 9 to 14 normally every day. Sometimes it is until 20 or 22 hours also if the occasion requires it. Breakfast is served from 8 and from this time we are at the hotel. We are the same people who are here every day, but of course 24 hours is never possible and does not fit our category, and it would not be human either because we must also sleep or rest. Inform you that Entertaiment Department with animators and / or orchestra to animate the rural hotel as well as butler service we do not have nor do we believe they are necessary since tranquility and peace is one of our best qualities. 24-hour phone numbers are available in case you need anything else or have any questions. Our breakfast is advertised as continental, which in case you don't know it consists of coffee, milk, toast, butter, jam. However, for an economical price (whether it comes directly or by agency) we offer a buffet adapted to the number of guests consisting of: different types of breads, pastries, seasonal fruit, cereals, various types of sausages, cheese, jams, honey, tomatoes, milk, coffee, infusions, eggs, sometimes roasted bacon, sausages, etc. It can be repeated several times and the dining room is usually set with classical music of all time or similar. A shame that you confuse classical music with old or school ?, better not comment. For everything explained above: What you say about breakfast does not fit reality. Staying in our Rural Hotel, typical emblematic house costs an average of 30 euros per person by booking directly, being one of the cheap rural hotels in the area. Perhaps you came through the Travel Agency and do not know that they take commission or increase prices because if you do not know, we will also clarify. Agulo is a rural town where its tranquility, landscapes and the charm of its streets and houses stand out. When it comes you can enjoy all this, as well as its network of trails, church, square, museum, restaurants, bars, supermarket, all accessible at street level. Apart known viewpoints, Visitor Center of the Garajonay National Park, etc. A shame not knowing how to appreciate and enjoy. If you were thinking of finding a party and party atmosphere, maybe you chose the wrong destination when you came to La Gomera and Agulo. If what you are looking for is a lively hotel with hundreds of people in a city or destination with a multitude of activities and personalized 24-hour service, a large breakfast buffet with 20 variety trays, it is better to go to Ibiza or Tenerife South for example, But of course this is very difficult to find that it costs an average of 30 euros per person per day and also includes breakfast. We wish you good luck in your search. We regret not having met your expectations in your case despite the high scores we have for attention, quality and price in our small Rural Hotel. We send you a cordial greeting, Management - Hotel Rural Casa Lugo

Two couples stayed here for two nights as part of a longer, predominantly walking trip to La Gomera. Agulo is a particularly pretty village with an astonishingly vertical walk up the mountain behind to a glass bottomed viewing deck and cafe/ bar at the top (cold drinks only 1.5€!). The rooms here are well kept, simple, clean and roomy. Breakfast is lovely - usual local choices plus bacon and egg(!), cereals, cheeses, ham, fresh bread and home made jams. Nice coffee. The village is very quiet and evening out dinner places limited but do exist and shouldn't put you off. We did a last minute Booking.com booking but on hearing from the lovely owner they take 15% I'd alway try and book direct to help caring, local owners who have pride in their hotels and service.

This is a rural hotel, which means it has restricted service hours. You are on your own most of the time. Breakfast is normal Spanish, exceptional local preserves. If you ask, you get good coffee. Rooms are small, bath room fine - area is quiet and near by is the village center, restaurants. Popular with people who want to hike in the terraced landscapes and mountains nearby. Good place to stay and then visit. Very nice owners who take care of you.

Hostess/Manager is exceptionally kind, caring, attentive. Our room was spacious, clean, elegant. The bed was comfortable. Breakfast was generous and delicious. The hotel is small (that's good!), with a serene, inner courtyard. The town is the loveliest on La Gomera.
