Staying at this hotel in this remote place was somewhat special experience and evoked a mixture of feelings. The view and surroundings are fantastic as you can see Snaefellsjokull glacier and the lava clearly from your window. The hotel and the rooms are basic but very clean and satisfactory. The service was however far away from the usual Icelandic hospitality... More

Despite the "Welcome" in the name of this hotel, it is far from welcoming. The overall feeling is one of economy. The room that we had is a generous size, but the towels were skimpy, and the pillows about as insubstantial as they come. Breakfast was very disappointing indeed. The only bread on offer was slightly dry sliced bread, and... More

As other reviewers have written, this is an antiseptic and stripped down place. Everything is new and clean but there is no one available in person or by phone to help with any requests for ice, directions, a cork screw or local information. The women who tended the mediocre buffet at breakfast do not understand English. The beds are soft... More

Perfectly nice hotel in a sleepy seaside town on the ringroad. Lovely view of the glacier. Comfortable rooms, good bathrooms, excellent buffet breakfast put out in the morning. Liked the self-check option! Just be sure to write down the code they email you before your arrival!

Looks like a Motel 6 from outside, clean and eerily empty inside. No staff, no reception. Rooms clean, decent size, But anti-septic. Guests all confused. Breakfast really sub par. Most dissappointing stay of our trip. Wifi available, but unsecured and spotty.

This hotel is the worst value for money I have ever encountered. It's charges very high rates (190 Euro per night) but offers a lower service than the average hostel. The management seems to do everything possible to keep the cost low in order to increase their profit and squeeze the tourist. As demand exceeds supply, they seem to get... More

The rooms are warm, clean and comfy. This has been the only hotel I've stayed in described as soundproof but it isn't completely. There's no self catering facilities Breakfast is provided but it's pretty basic Free wifi which is a good service It's advertised with views of fjords but our room didn't have this An issue with the hotel is... I was told that the hotel changed hands recently. I don't know what it was like before May but it is a terrible place now. Unless all you want is a room for the night, motel style, then it is fine. Rooms are clean and comfortable. However if you're looking for a hotel, with some facilities such as a restaurant... More

Hellissandur is really a nowhere town and the (only) local hotel matches the town. No reception at all - you use a couple of numeric codes to get into the building and into your room. The rooms are OK, but just that. I can't figure out how this hotel manages to bill itself as a three-star establishment. There wasn't even... More

We arrived at 7pm straight from the airport for our booked 3 night stay to find the hotel locked up and in darkness. We could see in to the restaurant and chairs were stacked up on tables so they obviously weren't expecting any trade. We couldn't find anyone to ask and the hotel phone number went straight to voicemail (in... More
