Spent a night at this lodging and we were the only ones around. The living room was very cosy and we could help ourselves to hot tea or coffee from the dispenser. The next morning we were treated with a breakfast buffet spread even though it was just the two of us. Wonderful place and we will be back

I stayed one night with a group I was traveling with. The place has a farm/home feeling. Our rooms were on the second floor which was a problem for me trying to get luggage up the stairs as there is no elevator. One of my traveling friends helped me. In reality you shouldn't expect an elevator in a farm house....

We didn't go there to stay. We just went to learn about Icelandic horses. The owner and a few others rode the horses for us and demonstrated their different gaits. One even rode around with a full glass of beer...and didn't spill a drop. After the demonstration, we went out to the barn and got to "meet" the horses. It...

Located in a Horse Ranch, chances to visit the horse barn and posiblity of horse bach rides. Very friendly staff, nice rooms, access to a great living room. Nice restaurant, with good view and food, but offered horse meat. Wonderful breakfast.

Stayed for just one night, which was more for the convenience of the drive around Iceland. Got the feeling that there were a number of different styles of rooms available, though we had a room for 3 people, which was a bit tight, though manageable. Social area of the place, was a nice place to mingle with other guests. Staff...

We were doing the Ring Road around Iceland and requested a stop where we could ride the Icelandic horses. Our tour operator (icelandselfdrive.com) selected this stop for us. While this is not a true hotel, it has a number of rooms Ours was huge (twin bedded) with a large bathroom. Beds were super comfy and we did not experience any...

If you are looking for horse riding in remote landscape or quality accommodation / food this is not your place. However, if you have kids and you want to give them a first experience with horses - and you are fine with riding one hour along the mainroad, this may be an appropriate place. But expect a quite expensive ride....

This was a one nighter for us clean and tidy and served a purpose. There was a really friendly welcome and the hotel had a great lounge where you could relax. Not keen on a meat buffet so drove the 15 minutes to the harbour where we went to their harbour restaurant and had a lovely evening meal. Would have...

Very beautiful place near Hvammstangi. Nice welcome, reltively cosy room. But that's it. Unremarkable, pricey dinner. But the worst is how noisy the place is. Impossible to sleep! We could hear everything: people entering their rooms, what music our neighnours on the left were listening to (at midnight!!), what our neighnours on the right were talking about. Very short time...

Really made to feel welcome here, right from arrival nothing was a problem. Restaurant had great choices, incl local touches (bit nervous about the horsemeat though!) and prices were reasonable - at least for Iceland. Room on the tight side but worked OK. Bathroom had some nice touches incl heated towel rail. Lovely outlook over their long-established horse farm. They...

“Gauksmyri has several types of rooms, of which I doubt any will fail. They all have a stunning view towards mountains and fields of horses and in right season northern Iights. Swimmingpool is poor because it is in a neighbour town, and fitness terrible because there isnt any. But the surroundings offer plenty of excersize, either riding horses or hiking up to the mountains.”
