I am recently back from my tenth visit to Seavilla, Ardgroom, since the late 1990s, and its overall excellence has never changed in all those years. The bedrooms are tastefully decorated and frequently renewed; the beds are very comfortable, and bathroom, tv and lighting etc all highly suitable. Breakfasts are varied as to menu, but all are delicious and plentiful, and dinner likewise - I have come back heavier! Just to mention one, the French toast is "to die for"! As to the surrounding area, every time I come back, I marvel at how beautiful the whole Beara peninsula is, the most beautiful location I know. But the best feature of Seavilla by far is its hosts: John Gerard and Mary are two of the nicest and kindest people I have ever met, and their treatment of guests makes them like family. Seavilla is like a home from home.

Mary and John are spectacular hosts and spending one night at Seavilla when walking the Beara Way in 2020 was definitely one of our highlights. They are just so kind and warm people and made us feel welcome at every stage. To begin with, they were very accommodating when we slightly had to change our itinerary because of a storm. Next, John picked us up in Ardgroom as Seavilla is a few kilometers off the trail and insisted on carrying our backpacks. Arriving at Seavilla, it's a stunning villa in beautiful surroundings. You could tell that walkers are very welcome. John immediately took our shoes, stuffed them with newspapers and put them in a shed to dry. Still baffled by the sudden kindness and warmth we experienced, Mary greeted us at the main door with two glasses of prosecco. And that was just the beginning of a wonderful time that included a delicious dinner and breakfast, lovely conversations and warmth and care. The next day, while being on the Beara Way again, we got a call from Mary because she had noticed online that our next B&B got flooded (which ultimately was fine) and cared about where we would stay for the night and offered to pick us up again. We cannot recommend staying at Seavilla enough. It's a lovely place and if you get a chance to spend some time with Mary and John, you definitely should. We hope to be back there at some time!

I never leave reviews on trip advisor but this place definitely deserves one. Mary and John went above and beyond with food, drinks and hospitality, they were more than happy to spend time talking to us about the local area and pointing out things to do while on our holidays. They are full of craic and fun and really made the holiday. The rooms were finished to hotel standard and the breakfast was great!! They are constantly updating the house so its finished to a very modern yet comfortable standard. We will definitely be staying again and would highly recommend it to anyone staying near this area.

Sea Villa is a fantastic gem of a Bed and Breakfast set in the beautiful village of Ardgroom Beara. Sea Villa has a very high standard of service and cleanliness. The accommodation is beautifully presented and the food is amazing and plentiful. A great choice for breakfast including BucksFizz.. Sea Villa feels like a high end hotel and is certainly value for money. Mary and John Gerard are fantastic hosts who are so attentive and go above and beyond to make your stay comfortable and memorable. When we checked in we were treated to a glass of prosecco which was greatly appreciated. On returning from a night out our beds were turned down and a lovely note and night cap awaited us. We would give this Bed and breakfast and hosts a 10+ rating. We would recommend Sea Villa and Mary and John Gerard to all potential visitors as you will be treated like royalty. We will be back. Brendan & Marian Galway.

What incredible hosts! We arrived at Sea Villa in August 2021 while hiking the Beara Way. Mary and John were an absolute delight! Our weary bones were greeted with Prosecco to celebrate another leg of the journey done, and we were directed to the Honeymoon Suite to clean up. Our multi-course meal was delicious, and their company was so much fun. We hated to turn in, but we discovered Mary had placed caramels on the pillows and chocolate mints along with a shot of Irish whiskey and shot of Irish cream and a sweet note on the dresser! Breakfast was incredible, and the Bucks Fizz was a nice treat. Mary packed a lunch for us that was the best we've EVER had on our hikes! (She even included another round of whiskey and Irish cream to fortify us on our journey!) Back home in the US, we still talk about how great our stay was at Sea Villa. My hubby says, "I think if we lived there, we'd be their friends." The best word to describe the whole experience really is "delightful." We hope to get back there.

We stayed in Sea Villa B&B in August 2021 and from the minute we walked in the door we had the most wonderful stay. Mary & John were so welcoming and after our long journey a cold glass of precesso was exactly what we needed. Mary cooked a beautiful dinner from a great 4 course menu. Not only was the food plentiful, the company was great and we felt so at home. The ensuite bedroom was very comfortable and service wouldn’t be out of place in a 5* hotel. We had a great breakfast menu to select from and yet again Mary’s home cooking was outstanding. We cannot rate Mary and John highly enough, fabulous people, fabulous food and fabulous place to stay. We highly recommend Sea Villa and we are looking forward to going back to our next visit to relive this experience. Joan & Gary Mayo

Thank you so much John and Mary for such a wonderful repeat stay at Sea Villa! I truly always look forward to this part of our Ireland holiday. Sea Villa is sure to be spotlessly clean with every modern amenity you could ask for. We were greeted with Prosecco and a lite snack. The breakfast was one of our best meals of the entire trip! Fresh brown bread, delicious coffee and a traditional irish fry made the start of our day delightful! Don't even get me started on the Bucks Fizz! Delicious! Honestly, cannot wait to go back! Thank you John and Mary!!

Sea Villa has undoubtedly the friendliest, most accommodating hosts we've ever experienced. It's a lovely place, quite comfortable with very nice linens. They do not overlook any detail: the meals are served on elegant matching china and are deliciously prepared. The fresh mussels were magnificent. We returned to our comfortable room to find lighted candles and a night cap.
It is the finest B&B we've found in our extensive travels in Ireland, perhaps the best anywhere.

This is a gen of a place hidden in the Beara Peninsula mountains.

The hosts here are second to none. We were treated to strawberry Prosecco and cheese on arrival and made most welcome.

When we returned from a local restaurant there were night caps (shots of Baileys and Powers Irish whiskey) in our room.

The room was spotlessly clean and well maintained with all the facilities you’d ever need.

We’ve just finished breakfast (started with a Bucks Fizz - Prosecco & fresh orange juice!) and then a full Irish fried breakfast (chosen from a long menu) that was just excellent.

We will be back

Thanks Mary & John - we really enjoyed the craic!

Best place you’ll stay in Ireland! I arrived as a guest and left as a lifetime friend! On my first stay with John & Mary they made last minute accommodations and I’m so glad they did. I enjoyed them so much that I booked another trip back within 4months to work with John on his mussel farm. Beara Peninsula is often overlooked but such a gem! If you’re looking for a authentic less touristy location, this is it! You won’t be disappointed!
