We loved everything about this fantastic resort. Katerina was wonderful to deal with in the mornings. Sam and Valentina were perfect hosts in the afternoons and evenings and defintely helped make our stay very enjoyable. The other lady, (apologises I can't remember her name) along with the rest of the staff were hard working and very polite. Nothing was too much trouble for them to ensure that we had a good vacation. We are hoping to return next year. The view of Stromboli belching gas is our enduring memory of the sunsets during our stay.
We’ve just came back from our week vacation in Calabria, and we stayed in this beautiful and cozy resort. The same minute you enter the area of this small hotel, you are in love with it. Very green and with beautiful views on sunsets. You feel like you are received by a family of very old friends of you. Always helpful and smiling , they took so good care of us. Supermarket is close, restaurants - plenty of choice just nearby (but we’ve found a really good one a bit away from the hotel La Notte Pizzeria, which we definitely recommend for so tasty food, local atmosphere and friendly service). The hotel shuttle takes you to Grotticelle beach and pick you from there according to schedule. We’ve used catamaran and a boat to go to Focu beach, clean water and so nice beach (but you should take everything with you there, snacks and water, as it’s an empty beach). And thanks to previous reviewer we also went to Tono beach a couple of days, which is wider and maybe less people are there than on Grotticelle beach. If you have a car, you can travel to so many beautiful places and beaches around. We also used a public bus to go to Tropea, the schedule is available on reception and he bus stop is just close near La Campangola restaurant. Car rent you can also ask on reception, they call the service and they bring a car to hotel for you, very convenient:) we’ve paid 50 euro for one day rent. Berta & Sam, we are looking forward to come back next year:) oh, and thanks for the farewell pizza party, we’ve enjoyed Calabrian music and pizza and dances:) …
We had a perfect vacation at L‘Arcobalena Resort in Capo Vaticano! A pittoresque place with clean and cozy apartments that offer everything you need, a great view and the most beautiful sunsets I’ve ever seen! Thanks a lot to the kind and loving team Samuel, Roberto, Petra and all the others! We‘ll be back! ☀️🌊🇮🇹🌋😎👏🏻
The property on which the Resort is located is smaller than we had anticipated. We very much liked the many well cared for plants which gave the area around the pool a lush tropical feeling. Both the German receptionist and the German speaking bartender were very friendly and helpful. Our room no. 20 was located under the roof. The pitches of the roof made it feel cramped and we hit our head more than once. But we had a large roof terrace with a great view onto the sea. It was a bit sparsely furnished with a table, two chairs and a very small wall mounted clothes drying rack. Upon request we got also a larger portable one. We missed a sunlounger for the afternoon nap and cushions for the chairs. The kitchen was only equipped with the minimum necessary. There was only 1 lid for 3 pots and 2 pans. We received another one after we asked for it as well as a kettle to boil tea water. We had our own large tea cups with us and a small vegetable knife. Both were missing in this kitchen but would have been provided if we had asked for it. It would have been nice if they had equipped the kitchen better in the first place rather than us having to ask for everything that we considered missing. There was a gas stove with 4 places but no oven or microwave. The lighting was not good. When you cooked or washed dishes you had it behind you and the whole workspace area was in shade. The lighting was also not good in the shower which is a standard size but feels small due to the roof pitch. There were only 2 towel hangers in the whole bathroom and those were only suitable for small towels. There was no light above the mirror in the bathroom, just some cables sticking out of the wall. You can order rolls for breakfast at the bar and pick them up the next morning. This was great as there is no larger supermarket or bakery in walking distance. They offer a free shuttle service to Grotticelle beach but we much preferred Tono beach. None of the beaches are in walking distance especially as there are steep winding roads leading down to them. You definetely need a rental car when you come to Arcobaleno resort. They have a free parking space with a barrier in front of it. The barrier was not completely OK. Most of the time it only opened after you had put the code in for the 2nd or 3rd time. The pool is not big and is just good enough for cooling down but not for swimming. We were surprised that it was obligatory to wear a bathing cap in the pool. It was provided free of charge at the reception but spoiled the fun. Between 2 and 4 pm you were not allowed to use the pool as it was 'rest time'. There is free wireless internet but it did not work in our room. We had to go to the pool or bar with our laptop and smartphone. The prices at the bar are very reasonable. All in all we liked the Resort as it has a nice relaxed atmosphere and staff that works hard to make you feel welcome.…
We stayed in this amazing resort L'Arcobaleno in Capo Vaticano for 6nights with my boyfriend. Arrived it the late evening around 8pm and got a special welcome to the resort by wonderfull host Sam (hotel manager who also works in the bar and in the reception) - Hi to Sam, we already miss you! :) Our apartment were downstairs, very clean and nice apartment with wide kitchen, large bed and nice terrace. Ocean view would have been nice, but couldn't get it because we booked the apartment only one day before arriving. But it didn't bother us, we still had a really comfy outside terrace which had a little fence for blocking visual contact straight to the pool. Every night we spent couple hours in the terrace playing cards, drinking wine and chilling. There is a little bar besides the reception, where you can buy little snacks, coffees and drinks. The most wonderfull staff were always helping us and cheering our days in the resort - Hi to lovely Valentina aswell! ;) ..for having a lunch or dinner you dont have to go far - there is two the most amazing restaurants serving the typical Calabrian cuisines just in the corner (Da Mimma and Campangola). A little market and the beaches are also very near - just a couple minute walking distance. For discovering Capo Vaticano and the nearest towns and villages you can easily reach by walking or hiring a bike - but we had a car with us, so we had the oportunity to go a bit further (to the beautiful old town Tropea and up to the hills to Brattirò). The roads and traffic may look a bit crazy and scary, but once you go into it, it's really easy (thats what my boyfriend says, myself I would think twice about doing that hahah) We were travelling in the end of September and the season were almost over... which seemed really nice for us - there were only couple families with little children and a few older couples in the resort with us on the same time. Beautifull landskapes, nice weather, DELICIOUS food, good local wines, friendly staff and people around us - If you want to have vacation with lots of relaxation, then L'Arcobaleno and Capo Vaticano is made for you! ...And now we definetely know where to go next time ;)…
This is a very well run and very well cared for resort. The grounds are beautifully kept, and the swimming pool and surrounding area are very attractive. We found the staff very helpful, friendly and always ready to oblige. We had no car, but lifts were provided by the resort to the nearby supermarket, beach and railway station, which gave us easy and fast access to other nice towns along the coast.. The staff spoke English very well and we would highly recommend that other British tourists seek out this hidden gem of a resort. Dorothy and Alistair MacGregor (Glasgow)
Very nice place. Very friendly hosts that make you feel welcome. Clean and nice rooms. Calm and relaxing place that want to make you stay longer. We had a really good time here. The coast is amazing and if you wanna do something else than lying at an amazing beach people make great recommendations on other things to do.
Very nice Italian owner and staff. Not to big complex with one and two bedroomappartments with airco or fan. Nice swimmingpool, depth 1m, childrenspool, you have to use a swimmingcap (avaliable at the reception). Small playground. Some appartments have a beautiful seaview: you can see the Stromboli! Kids activities in August (high season for the Italians). Mostly German and Italian and some Dutch tourists. You definitely need a car in this area! Beste restaurant in the neighbourhood: Il Vigneto
