Duma Tau was the second camp of my Botswana safari. The camp is in a great position facing the Linyati swamp. Tents are adequately appointed with private decks and river views. The raised timber walkway connecting the rooms is designed to let the animals pass on their way to the river. Elephants can often been seen crossing to the other...

Thank you Orford60, for the fabulous review and sharing your adventurous memories with us, sounds like you were on a hunt more than the predators you were tracking. The boma/ Floating fire deck was one of the last additions to the new DumaTau and has proven a great success. A stand out feature as you enter the main area, a...

Duma Tau is a 40 to 60 minute flight from Maun depending on the size of your plane and then a 30 minute drive from the airstrip. Every minute of that trip, and all the distance you've gone beforehand to reach Botswana is absolutely worth it. The Linyati concession area has only 3 Wilderness camps and throughout most of our...

Duma Tau was the last stop on our week long luxury safari experience in Botswana. I wondered what we would find at Duma Tau, and could it possibly live up to our experience of the past 5 days! And it certainly did! This camp has serious WOW factor, and well deserving of all its accolades! Duma Tau has recently been...

Dear Cooperpeterj, Thank you for the brilliant review, we are overjoyed to see you emjoyed your stay with us, even on the chilly winter morning drives. The Linyanti River and the Savute Channel attract many species of wildlife, particularly in the winter months when this is the only water available. Elephants are especially abundant at this time. Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Perhaps the best game viewing in far northern Botswana - from its newest and most stylish camp. DumaTau means "roar of the lion," but the elephant reigns here. The camp is set on a lagoon on the Linyanti River between two "elephant highways," affording unparalleled viewing of these iconic mammals, along with other wildlife. Together with sweeping, dramatic views of the river, the architecture of the camp expresses the explorer aesthetic, as well as the idea of space. There is an airy dining and lounge area, and a pool, all taking advantage of the superb view of the lagoon. Highlights DumaTau is located close to the source of the Savute Channel, with access to the Linyanti Swamps, floodplains and extensive mopane woodlands, thus offering an excellent combination of land and river. During winter, large elephant herds traverse the area. Chances of viewing leopard, lion and wild dog are excellent, along with other large mammals like hippo, red lechwe, giraffe, waterbuck, kudu, impala and occasional buffalo. 10 Tents (including 2 Family Tents): Rebuilt 2012; en-suite; spacious; raised off the ground; clear-storey window; 100% solar powered Experiences: Day and night game drives • Nature walks (on request) • Boating and barge (seasonal) • Game viewing hides • Catch-and-release fishing (seasonal) ... more   less
