This was our second time in the Linyanti Reserve, last time 2 years ago at Duma Tau. The Savuti waterway has dried up again and the landscape has changed dramatically in 2 years. Much of our time was spent traveling great distances to the water up to 1 1/2 hour by bouncy Landcover. We did see a spectacular huge croc...

Dear Jenckes, Many thanks for your feedback and advice to other travelers. Conditions have indeed changed along the Savute Channel in Linyanti. The water has dried up in front of camp and the channel – inundated with water for the past 5 or 6 years – is now reverting to a ribbon of grassland dotted with natural and pumped waterholes....

On our recent trip to Africa - we had the pleasure of staying at Savuti. We came from Sabi Sands/Kruger and weren't sure what to expect with Botswana. It was amazing. Having been on safari in Kenya during the migration we wanted something that would "knock our socks off." Sabi/Kruger didn't do it, but Botswana was right up there. We...

We had spent a few nights at Duma Tau and then transferred to Savuti for our last night in Botswana. The camp is a true African experience. The staff are good, the lodge is very low key and relaxed and the rooms are fantastic. One also cant been the game activity as the Savuti Channel was starting to flow but...

Dear SR22TSC, Albeit a short visit, we are so glad you enjoyed your recent stay at Savuti. It is quite interesting to see how the dynamics have changed over the years - from a dry channel before 2008, to being able to boat and canoe in front of camp in 2011/12 and back to a dry channel now. Of course,...

I would highly recommend this camp. When we arrived at the landing strip, our bags were dropped into the Land Rover and the adventure started immediately with the 30-minute drive through the bush. On the drive we were stopping to look at all the elephants, zebras, giraffes and an assortment of other animals- unreal excitement for us! When we finally...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Standing on the raised wooden deck of Savuti, one is able to marvel at the phenomenon of nature at work. Just beneath this remote safari camp flows the enigmatic Savute Channel, until recently a dry grassland. In 2008, the waters returned and as a result game concentrations are particularly high in the dry winter season. A thatched main area and viewing deck take in the scene, while exploring the length of the Savute and its associated woodlands by boat or vehicle is a highlight here. • 7 tents (1 family) • day and night game drives • guided walks • boating • hides ... more   less
