Penzion Fontana was our second choice due to our first being fully booked, but it turned out for the best. The rooms were spacious, clean and comfortable and the staff helpful. Reception staff will help you register for a Go Pass, which allows you to get a daily discount for entry to the hot springs, at the bar inside and on some of the food. The real highlight of the hotel is the food in the restaurant; we had several delicious evening meals there. There is also a supermarket nearby and a good Pizza restaurant - Pizzaland.
Loved this place thought the food was good too. Staff nice and speak English well. Rooms clean. We went here recently and it was hot due to a heatwave and no air con. So hopefully they may get some for the future or maybe a fan. But also only 500m to the waterpark and thermal spa. Would recommend.
We had comfortable and clean and spacious room. There was also sofa, 2 smaler tables, little fridge, good TV with good range of TV programms. Furniture is new and clean and nice. We had 2 glass doors in the room, suitable for good lightness and air ventilation. We missed kettle to make coffee or tea, because outside was winter. Sometimes we heard noisy train, but only during day. Bed was comfortable. We used welness, ut was relaxable and very nice. There is a lot of parking place. Near hotel is food shop. Also we visited Gino Paradise Thermal park, great place for relax. Near to this hotel there is a lot of places for skiing (Jasna, Chopok), High Tatra etc. Service people was willing. Very nice short holiday, I want to visit it again in the future.
This hotel is located around 10 minutes' walk from Gino Paradise so if this is your reason for going to Bešeňová, then the location is really good. Our room on the second floor faced the garden/outdoor restaurant tent (did not see a lift - only a staircase). The room is functional, features a fridge and a shower. It was also quite warm and there isn't any air-conditioning, roof fans or other fan to help you cool down. This meant we slept with the window open. This means in the night you hear the fountain outside which is actually quite nice. However, the trains are a bit noisy and it goes on all through the night at intervals - something I reckon the whole town suffers from. Fortunately the road gets quiet during the night so not much traffic noise. Breakfast is buffet-style and was slightly different every morning and I thought it was quite ok - no reason to leave there hungry. I did like the coffee. The hotel was able to offer us discounted tickets for Gino Paradise at €20 per person (sea & fun ticket), which appears to be a saving of €5 per person. You have to pay for this in cash. We also used the wellness centre located in the hotel one evening - this has to be booked in advance and was €10 per person. There was only a sauna and a spa - nice enough and you don't have to leave the hotel but not a very compelling reason to stay here. We also had a massage each (full body for €14 and stone for €26). This has to be booked in advance and is done by an outside person - pay in cash only. He was quite good and it was good value for money. The restaurant serves dinner as well - reasonable prices and quite good food. It's handy since there're not many places to have dinner at within walking distance from the hotel. There is parking at the hotel. The hotel staff is generally very friendly and helpful but not so proficient in English as you might hope. Internet connection (wifi) in the hotel is really not good - in our room it worked sort of ok on the toilet but not in the bedroom. Even when you had a signal it was slow. It might be a bit of a challenge if you don't speak Slovak, but not impossible. The town isn't very well linked by public transport. The closest train station is around 25 minutes walk away.…
The hotel staff were impersonal throughout, possibly down to the language barrier, which made us use the hotel as a base only & eat elsewhere. I informed the hotel that my partner was vegetarian - no allowance for his dietary requirements was made at all. Breakfast was so disappointing & awful we cancelled our last day (€5.50 for a bowl of purple yoghurt for 3 days running was enough!) We did not have any contact with restaurant staff during breakfast for any of the days we went, yet alone to ask if we would like some fresh eggs or anything else. (a nod from behind the bar you had to pass to get to breakfast room with 2 unmade tables, if he was there, at most - the rest of 'made up' tables were situated in the bar area - it was unclear that we could sit here for breakfast!) Tea, coffee & juice all terrible. Meat & cheese all together on same serving platters - useless for vegetarian requirements, along with chopped sausage in the scrambled eggs next to the cooked sausage to have with the eggs & sausage.....I'm not surprised there was plenty left drying out further! No fruit (dried or fresh), muesli or toast. Very poor selection of anything offered. We checked into a dirty room & it was promptly cleaned within the hour while we waited -the room was basic but spacious, having a separate sitting room & bedroom with en-suite bathroom & a reasonably comfy bed. The hotel has a very nice sauna & whirlpool area which can be used for an extra fee. The train line runs behind the hotel, across a small field, with regular trains in transit into the night & early mornings. There is no lift in this hotel. Great location for the aqua park, also cheaper & the train line runs closer to their accommodations.…
