Glasson Lakehouse has garnered appreciation for its comfortable and stylish rooms, though some guests have encountered issues with noise and maintenance. The hotel's cleanliness and stunning location are consistently applauded, offering an ideal backdrop for relaxation. While the eclectic decor and inviting atmosphere are highlights, the noise level can be a drawback for those seeking tranquility. Service quality varies, with commendations for friendliness alongside critiques of inconsistency. The amenities, including the outdoor heated pool and pet-friendly policy, are popular, but perceived value suffers due to high costs and extra charges.

Outstanding hotel. We enjoyed our stay from the second we arrived. The location and scenery are just beautiful. The decor and whole vibe of the hotel was just so relaxing and special. It was my partners birthday and the staff went above and beyond to make it special for us adding balloons and a banner to the room and also at dinner brought out his desert with a candle. This was so thoughtful and we appreciated it very much. Food was beautiful, Bonnie’s dinner menu if you weren’t a foodie you’d struggle to know what each dish was, simple dishes and we were very happy with our food but the descriptions of each main or starter were just a little mind boggling but the food was delicious. Tom’s bar was gorgeous and cozy also the wings and nachos were divine! Bedroom was decorated fabulously I couldn’t fault it and there was a huge selection of snacks and a mini bar everything you could need should you need it. We were so impressed. Only down to the room was the shower temperature couldn’t be regulated, it was overly hot so we didn’t get to use it. Hot tubs were lovely but thought slightly over priced for what they were, 1hr for €40 and I have to say the water could have been hotter I think the tub might have been filled a long time before we got there, also screens between tubs would be nice for privacy as they are very close to one another and there’s zero privacy. Also location of the outdoor pool is a bit odd, in full view of the restaurant which is not ideal if your stripping out of your robe to a togs in view of a full restaurant.
Above all we enjoyed the stay and will be back!

The decor in this hotel is the funkiest I’ve seen with lots of cool touches in the rooms (SMEG fridge, hair straightener, cool little snacks). The beds were very comfortable and the room we stayed in was so quiet during the night, despite the fact that a hen party were also booked in.
The food was tasty for breakfast and dinner and Tom’s bar served us amazing cocktails on our first night there, with a superbly efficient bar man from Liverpool.
I’m taking off a star unfortunately for the service (the Liverpudlian being the exception). Each time we ate or drank in Bonnie’s, we had to ask for water for the table, clean cutlery and a reminder of the coffees we had ordered. We were served a lukewarm breakfast, which to be fair, was removed and rectified immediately, when we could get someone’s attention. The lady and gentlemen who seated us were both very efficient but generally, the waiting staff were forgetful, slow and inattentive.
It really didn’t affect our stay as we didn’t have to be anywhere but for the price, it could be improved.
As a previous reviewer, I do believe that the hot tubs should be complimentary to paying guests and also, maybe add some hooks into the bathrooms to hang the wet towels or robes.
Gorgeous setting, beautiful rooms and we had a fabulous time but a few minor tweaks and training of staff required.

This hotel is well worth a visit. We stayed for one night and would gladly book again. The grounds are beautiful & the outdoor pool was fab. I can't understand how other recent reviewers said the pool was cold. It was a lovely warm temperature over the two days that we were there. The food in the restaurant is first class. The smoked salmon starter was one of the nicest starters that I can remember having in a long time. The chocolate creme brulee was also amazing. The menu is limited but the food speaks for itself! The bedroom was very comfy & stylish. Lovely big rain shower in the bathroom. Every member of staff we came in contact with was very nice. I would have liked to use the spa and hot tub but pricey, I think €50 is a bit steep for the hot tubs considering the price of the rooms. Other than that, a lovely place to visit!

My friend and I visited Glasson Lakehouse on 4th November, 2024, and were truly enchanted by the vibrant colours, elegant design, inviting lighting, cozy fires, and warm atmosphere! We enjoyed a lovely view of the lake while reviewing the lunch menu. The restrooms were spotless and beautifully maintained.

We ordered bruschetta, French fries, and a green salad with melon, olives, feta, and chicken (which the waitress suggested, although it wasn't mentioned on the menu). The food arrived quickly, but we were disappointed with the French fries, which were overcooked. The waitress kindly agreed to have them replaced.

However, the salad left much to be desired, consisting mainly of lettuce leaves with just two olives, three pieces of melon, and a handful of feta, lacking in flavour. The bruschetta was poorly presented, featuring a single large ball of mozzarella, and the pesto was bland.

For a light lunch featuring the items mentioned and a single drink, we spent €46, which felt very disappointing. We had initially talked about returning to this beautiful venue, but the lackluster experience with such a basic meal has made us reconsider.
Not recommended.

Hi Julie201415, Thank you for sharing your detailed feedback with us. We’re so pleased that you enjoyed the setting, ambiance, and the beautiful view of the lake during your visit. It’s great to hear that you found the restrooms spotless and well-maintained as well. However, we’re truly sorry to hear that your dining experience did not meet your expectations. We take food quality and presentation very seriously, and it’s disappointing to learn that the dishes you received were not up to the standard you were hoping for. We sincerely apologize for the overcooked French fries and the unsatisfactory salad. We also appreciate your honesty regarding the bruschetta — the quality and flavor you describe is certainly not reflective of the level of service we aim to provide. Your feedback is incredibly valuable, and we will be reviewing both the food preparation and presentation as well as the menu descriptions to ensure our offerings meet the high standard our guests deserve. We hope you might reconsider visiting again in the future, as we’d love the opportunity to give you the experience you expected and more. Thank you again for your feedback, and we apologize for any disappointment caused. Kind regards, The team at Glasson Lakehouse

Just back from a 2 night stay here and to say we were disappointed is an understatement. We had been last year for our pre Christmas break and really enjoyed it so we were looking forward to coming back again.

On arrival the hotel was very busy as there was 2 weddings on, we were staying in a doggy friendly room so hence brought our small dog. We had lunch booked for 2.30pm and were told our room wasn't ready and dogs weren't allowed in the restaurant so had to eat in the lobby. We were fine with this however after getting served our first course we waited over an hour for our dessert after they forgot about us. Meanwhile with no room for our luggage we waited in the lobby until 4pm for our room. After settling in we went to go for a swim only to be told it closed at 6pm. The pool last year didn't close until 9/10pm. With this we said ok we will just go tomorrow after our spa treatment. Forward on to dinner which was mediocre we ended up going back to our room as the bar was so over crowded from one of the weddings. My husband was up until 3am with girls partying in the room above us. After making 2 phone calls to reception it took 2 hours to resolve over mix up in communication during staff change overs. Next day went to our spa which was nice however we went to the pool after and it was freezing 🥶 we had watched people all that evening after that go in and straight back out as it was so cold. This was not the case last year so we were very disappointed, not only that we said we would pay the €50 for the use of the hot tubs as the pool was so cold to only be told that they were booked up for the next 2 days. Honestly if I didn't have my dog with me I would have checked out the first morning and went to another hotel. Sockets in the room weren't working either and I have seen other complaints about this also. Very unfortunate it just seemed to be one let down after another 😕

Hi Stepbystepm, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback, and we sincerely apologize for the disappointing experience you had during your recent stay. We're sorry to hear that your visit did not meet the high standards we aim to provide, especially given your positive experience last year. We completely understand your frustration regarding the delays with your room, the pool hours, and the issues with the restaurant and service. It’s also concerning to hear about the noise disturbances and the cold pool, which certainly shouldn’t have been the case. We’ll be looking into these matters closely to ensure we address them for future guests. We also apologize for the issues with the sockets in your room and any confusion with the hot tubs. These are important aspects of your stay, and we will work to resolve these technical issues as soon as possible. We deeply regret that your stay was marred by these multiple issues, and we understand your disappointment. We do hope you will give us another chance in the future, and please know we are committed to improving based on your feedback. Thank you again for bringing these concerns to our attention. Thank you, The team at Glasson Lakehouse

The Glasson Lakehouse is a fabulous location. the bedrooms are beautiful, clean and comfortable. We recently stayed at the Glasson Lakehouse and as a hotel location, it is stunning. However the experience was a let down.
Firstly, all the wonderful things....
Beautiful retro style lakeview rooms. These rooms are really nice, clean and the beds very comfortable. The view from the lake view rooms is stunning. The rooms are well stocked with snacks and booze (at a cost of course), but well stocked, nonetheless.
Hot Tubs: The hots tubs are well worth the money. Greg looked after use and was very knowledgeable on the location and history of Glasson Lake house. We had stunning views and a really relaxing time
Outdoor Pool: Lovely heated outdoor pool with great views. It was lovely and quiet while I was there and had a peaceful, relaxing swim
Spa: The Spa experience was lovely, nice and relaxing

The let downs were unfortunate and consistent and were all related to Bonnie's Restaurant.
We had booked a lunch with the SPA experience, it was very busy for lunch with an event happening at the same time. we were waiting 40 mins for cocktails and the charcuterie boards were missing some of the cheese. The service was slow and we never got the dessert which was included with the lunch.... still paid for it!
We also had Bonnie's booked for Dinner, again service was slow. I ordered the tagliatelle with chicken, they forgot to add the chicken to the dish, a bit of grilled chicken was brought out with an apology. We skipped the dessert. WE had the beef cheeks for starters and they were amazing!
For breakfast the following morning, again service was slow, had to remind them for the tea / coffee. There is no buffet breakfast, its all table service. Except for Orange juice and some pastries. Orange juice ran out!

For such an amazing Hotel and destination, Its such a shame about the restaurant experience was poor. Based on this, I won't be in a rush back.

Overpriced. Breakfast and service are terrible.

Reception welcome was seriously lacking. We were given no information and could feel her annoyance when we asked to split the bill between 3 of us.

Service was awful, the staff are so inexperienced and there's no manager to give guidance or direction. Waitresses unable to open a bottle of wine. To be fair at dinner, the starters and main course were delicious, dessert wasn't great, but it was edible. Vegan food wasn't good for dinner or breakfast. We were then overcharged for dinner, but were given complimentary drinks to apologize. Wait times for food and drinks are extremely slow. My sister sat on a very broken chair in the bar. Again some bar staff were extremely inexperienced, had to tell one person more than 3 times the drinks order for 3 people. One man was fab, dropping drinks to the table, but this level of service depending upon who served you. Breakfast was awful, wait times -really slow, we left 2 full plates of food behind us and not one member of staff asked if everything was ok, which I would expect to be normal practice. I got the eggs Benedict, which I love, but there was way too much ham, eggs were undercooked and the sauce was tasteless. My sister is vegan and didn't enjoy her breakfast either. Had to ask 3 times for a coffee before being served.

The walls in the rooms are paper thin, you can hear people in the rooms beside you, so this could potentially be a massive issue. We could hear someone snoring from another room, which was quite annoying. One pillow in the room was stained, which wasn't pleasant. Patio area outside of our room, which you couldn't access from the room. Internet connection is slow and non existent in some parts of the hotel.

Overall, decor is charming and location is beautiful, but it's way overpriced. I would not be returning.

Dear Dreamer, Thank you for choosing Glasson Lakehouse for your trip away and for taking the time to share your feedback. I am very sorry to read of your experience and especially the level of service. I am also very sorry that you felt there was no manager available. I and/or other senior managers are in the hotel everyday without exception, may I ask if you asked to speak to a manager at all, to highlight some of the difficulties? I have carefully read through every aspect of your review and I assure you things will be addressed and I do hope that you will come back and visit us again sometime in the future. In the meantime Dreamer I wish you a great New Year ahead. Thanks once again and please accept my apologies again. Kind regards, Conor O'Leary, General Manager.

The minute you walk into this hotel you are greeted by a cosy, friendly atmosphere. I was greeted by Niamh and Leona at reception and they went above and beyond to make our stay special for my friend’s birthday celebrations. The rooms were gorg with a quirky, cosy interior. The housekeeping team had the room decorated for our celebrations along with fab towel art on the bed that really amplified the attention to detail the staff take for each guest. The food and service in Bonnie’s throughout our stay was fabulous. The hot tubs were perf and so relaxing. I can’t wait to come back. Would highly recommend to anyone.

It's a lovely hotel, the staff are very welcoming and the rooms are very large & comfortable. We ate in the restaurant both evenings and the food was excellent.
We were in room 53 which is located next to the gym and were woken each morning by the weighted ball being thrown down continuously. Perhaps move them to the otherside of the gym to prevent this.
There was also a wedding on the Thursday night and music was played until the early hours. Please add ear plugs to the welcome tray in this room as they would have been handy that night.

Wedding 13/09

We got married there on Friday the 13th September and we could not speak higher of Glasson! The staff were amazing and extremely helpful, the rooms were stunning and the food was out of this world. Alexandra, Colm and the team left no stone unturned in making sure that our day turned out exactly as we had planned it.

We also had our day 2 on site along with hot tubs, a dip in the pool and a round of golf! The bbq area is unreal and despite it being very windy, the heaters done their job! There was also another wedding on day two and the team somehow managed to make you feel like you were the only event they were hosting that day!

Honestly if you want a slightly different day to the typical Irish hotel wedding but still remain in Ireland, well then I could not recommend Glasson more.

The rooms are a little pricey but you quickly forget this when you see the level of detail and service that goes into your stay!
