The cottage and grounds are lovely, but we thought that we had booked a relaxed and quiet vacation with a beach feel. We had neither. The cottage is too close to the main road and the noise is constant. It is impossible to sit in the yard or patios in peace. In fact, when we commented that the outdoor backyard furniture was tired, we were told that "no one sits out there anyway." There is no beach feel because you have to walk through locked gates and passageways to even see the beach or get there. This is the first time that we had used Isle Blue for booking. They knew how we usually travel, so we were surprised that they recommended this property to us.
We sold our house in Barbados as we didn’t use it enough. But we still love the island and want to establish a ‘home from home’ in a rental property that we can return to regularly. We tried three different rentals varying in location and cost. Bluff Cottage was the first stop and has a lot of what we are looking for. Amazing beach access to IMHO the best bay on the island. Walking distance to Holetown and all it offers. Reasonable rates. Nice space. It is a little more tired than it appears in the photographs but nothing major and is very comfortable so wouldn’t mark it down at all for that. Desiray is a great cook (don’t come here if you are on a diet) and very accommodating. WIFI a little spotty and TV pretty nondescript but managed to download some bits and Apple TV (ours) worked fine most evenings. There was a bit of road noise but in fairness on the absolute west coast of Barbados it is almost unavoidable so for a holiday must not put you off – you’ll be on the fantastic beach all day anyway - and it did not disturb sleep at all. But we tend to hang around the house more than I think most folk would so it did affect us.…
