My husband and I have been coming to Glitter Bay for many years and we were both looking forward to this year after covid. We had an email in November saying about the dispute at Glitter which has been going on for many years but had obviously now come to a head sadly. The email listed areas we were unable to use, swimming pool, bar & eating area and designated seating, we were offered a full refund but obviously the flights had been booked and to get another apartment at the busiest time of the year in Barbados was going to be very difficult, so we decided to still continue with our holiday. On arrival we were given a form to sign to say we except the rules. In our apartment we had separate yellow towels to take to the beach and on our first day on the beach we also had separate yellow sun beds. We were told also because we were unable to use the bar for any drinks at all we had two beach attendants to accommodate us ( it did say limited ) The beach attendants were very accommodating but all they could provide us with was bottled water, coke and Banks beer. My husband and I felt for all the staff including the housekeepers who were all very attentive but unfortunately their hands were tied because of the situation. My Husband is a non swimmer and we had a couple of days when the red or yellow flags were up so with no pool we retired to our apartment just to cool off. Too our surprise the security was very top heavy particularly around the pool area checking that any one with yellow towels were not using it ( very disappointing) We would like to say the way as a paying guest we were pulled into this awful dispute was very unprofessional and unfortunately we will not be returning to Gliiter Bay. We will be returning to Barbados because we love the country & the people who live & work there.

Having been coming to Glitter Bay for nearly 20 years with a group of friends we were looking forward to our stay as always, unfortunately 5 weeks before flying we get an e mail to say that there was a legal problem between owners which would affect our stay, there not being a lot of time to change our plans we thought it wont be that bad and went hoping it would not deter from us having a great time as usual, how wrong we were. Our apartments this trip where booked with Royal Glitter bay who are obviously the underdogs in whatever the debacle is as we had all amenities banned from use and where made to feel very degraded by the experience, we were even put at the back of the beach on inferior sunbeds of different color. The property we were allocated is now in desperate need of upgrading as in the whole two weeks we had hot water to shower. I have contacted the owners and were given a discount this is not what I required, an explanation and reply in the first instance would have been polite but as yet nothing. I will add that the manager and her team, tried there hardest to look after us but have obviously been sworn to silence which must make there jobs very difficult. Whatever there problem is it should not reflect on the paying guest and totally spoil the experience of Barbados, we are unanimous in saying we will not visit Glitter bay again as the individuals and management teams have no idea how to run a bushiness looking after paying guests, and if either side thinks any of this will benefit them in the long term they are very wrong.

we travelled with my parents, a couple in their late 70's who have stayed at Glitter Bay many times. 24 hours after we had paid the final balance and 3 and a half weeks before our trip we had an email to say due to a fall out between RGBV and Glitter Bay Estates we were excluded from certain facilities, the pool, the bar and restaurant and the gym and we had to be segregated from others on the beach. They requested that we acknowledge/accept the situation. We acknowledged it but responded to say that we had no other choice with such a short time until our holiday was due to start. It was a dreadful situation to put us in as my Mum cannot go into the sea after a brain op caused severe vertigo, partial deafness and partial loss of sight,. we were told you can cancel your accommodation and have your money back as compensation!! It was far too short notice to try and organise different accommodation when your flights are set in stone.. We hoped to appeal against the ban for my Mum given the circumstances once we reached Glitter Bay. We had no option but to continue with our booking. Upon reaching the villa we were told by the management of Glitter Bay Estates, not our landlord, to sign a document agreeing not to use the facilities detailed on the sheet. We declined. We did however explain my Mum's position and requested special dispensation, only for my Mum, allowing her to cool off in the pool once a day for 10 minutes. they said no. Furthermore we were were not allowed to buy a drink at the pool bar or have a meal, yet, any non-resident walking along the beach could rock up to the bar and be served, and did on several occasions. What is that all about? I will tell you, they just wanted to make life awkward for us, the guests of RGBV. My Mum did go in the pool, for 10 minutes, each day and one of us watched over her, helped her down the steps and out again. The management of the Glitter Bay Estates and one of the owners actually called security to pull a 78 year old lady out of the pool! Disgraceful. We had a terrible holiday as a result of the fall out between Glitter Bay Estates and Royal Glitter Bay Villas. We paid in good faith for the use of ALL the facilities but were targeted and made to feel like lepers and pawns in the ongoing financial battle. Both sides are equally at fault for totally ruining our holiday, RGBV should have been honest about the situation long before we paid up in full and as for Glitter Bay Estates, the treatment of us and other guests in the RGBV apartments was truly awful. You should be ashamed of yourselves. All this before i mention that the apartment was tired and in need of decoration, the second bedroom smelt badly of damp, the bed linen was tired and could have done with renewing. The cooker extractor was so rusty that when we opened the hood the rust fell into our food. Although to be fair, the maintenance man did come pretty quickly and replaced the filter, this held the rust back nicely. All in all - It COULD have been amazing. It was not, it was stressful and distressing.

Unlike many holiday destinations 109 lived up to, and even exceeded its photo images. The apartment was full of personal bric a brac which made it feel like home. All the equipment was modern and in good condition. Our only minor comment would be the wet rooms - but I guess that is a matter of personal taste. The little sparrow shown in the photos was a welcome daily breakfast visitor. The gate from the terrace to the extensive Glitter Bay grounds made the apartment feel more like a villa. We rarely used the front door. Glitter Bay is a fabulous understated resort with extensive amenities and the best beach on the West coast. The pre booked beach chairs system works well relieving the tension about securing chairs. All the staff were excellent, particularly Rocky, who was in charge of beach chairs and towels and made the best rum punch on the island. Our only regret was that during our last week the bar stopped serving lunch. The bar during Happy hour was a great venue from which to watch the setting sun. Glitter Bay is well located being within walking distance of Holetown either by the road, or at low tide, the beach. There is an excellent supermarket (Massy) in Holetown serving all needs. The bus ride back for $3.50 Barbadian (a flat fee to any destination) is an experience not to be missed. The drivers are better than the Le Mans start from the bus stop sounds. There are frequent buses both north and south from Stops just outside the entrance gates Also thanks to everyone at BVS for all there help and assistance before and during our stay at Glitter Bay. A special thanks to them for introducing us to Perry the taxi driver, who never let us down during the many taxi trips we took during our stay. As you will gather we loved our stay and when we return to Barbados there will only be one place to stay - 109 Glitter Bay.

We stayed in Glitter Bay 113. The location on the beach is great. Very quick walk to the beach, beautiful sand and amazingly blue water. From Glitter Bay, you can walk to a couple of hotel restaurants and bars. The beach at Glitter Bay was never crowded. While their system of reserved beach chairs is nice, as you do not have to worry about getting chairs, it was clear that only “regulars” got front row spots. We were put in the last row of chairs and every day asked if people had checked out and were told “no.” However, the rows of chairs in front of us were empty almost every day. The beach attendant would also not give us an extra umbrella (despite tons not being used,) nor could we get more than one towel per person. One day we were leaving early for an excursion and they said there were no towels available. The villa is adequate. It had an odd smell and all of things in the closets (clean clothes, suitcases) had that smell upon returning home. The unit has a lovely balcony and the master bedroom was nice. The rest of the unit could use updating. While they provide daily maid service, it was more like a quick straightening up than staying in a full service villa. Driving up to Glitter Bay is unimpressive and the grounds at the front of the property are unattractive. The attraction is the “back” or beachfront area. There is a small restaurant on site where you can have lunch. A couple of days a week they also serve breakfast. There is a bar, but after the first day, they stopped coming around on the beach to take drink orders. You had to go up to the bar for a drink. There is an office for an on site concierge but it was almost always closed. Overall we were disappointed in the “villa” but the beach was one of our favorites.

Apartments are very clean and well maintained. Beach is lovely. Walking distance to Ju Ju's and Top Deck. Great staff all round the resort from housekeeping, gardening, maintenance to bar staff, kitchen staff and beach staff. Gets very busy in peak times .

Such a beautiful place and lovely, friendly locals. Shells 312 is an amazing apartment, extremely comfortable and has everything you need to enjoy a superb holiday. The local supermarket was a short walk away and a reasonable taxi trip back cost wise. Felt comfortable enough to walk into holetown for evening meals but due to dark roads and lack of pavement In some areas it’s is best to use a taxi back. Lots of helpful information in the apartment to enjoy outdoor activities and planning meals. Only one issue regarding using US dollars at the beach bar, our daughter handed over an amount to the waiter in our absence and what she was given back in Barbados currency meant she had paid a ridiculous amount for a coke. Honest mistake?.....take note..... make sure you know what you should get back in change before you pay for anything.

This place is stunning. Superb location, wonderful beach, easy access to fabulous beach bars and top quality restaurants. The pool is lovely, 7yo could stand at either end and there’s a toddler pool too and little play area. Beautiful grounds. Only complaint, and this is a very slight one, is that it was so quiet there was little atmosphere. If you want anonymity and seclusion this place is for you. We stayed in Villa 103 and would definitely return.

Stayed at 109 - Sweet Fuh Days - in April 2019. This was our fifth visit to Glitter Bay and our first time at 109. Gliiter Bay and BVS never disappoint. From the arrival and the 'welcome pack' of essentials (Banks and Rum!) to the ease of checking in (keys at the main gate). The location is excellent - right on one of the best West Coast beaches; an easy stroll from Ju Ju's, Lone Star and Top Deck. We have always previously stayed during the first week in June and found April (Easter Hols) to be a bit busier but far from too busy. It still retained that exclusive feel and it was a plus that the on site facilities, including an excellent barbecue on the Wednesday, were better that during the quieter June Low Season. We will be be back!

We stayed in unit 207, which was recently renovated with stainless steel appliances. Every unit is different as they’re individually owned. Our unit was two bedrooms, two bathrooms, a living room & a large patio area. Both the living room & master bedroom have sliding glass doors that open to the patio, overlooking the pool. The staff was fantastic. They were super friendly & accommodating. Rocky on the beach is amazing. On your first day at the beach he’ll get you set with “your spot” on the beach, that is yours for your entire stay. It’s so convenient & such a bonus to not have to scout out a new spot every day. Andre & Wanda at the beach bar were great too. It buts up to the Fairmont & you can pay them for access to their facilities too. We didn’t, but we did go there each day breakfast wasn’t served at the beach bar. It’s also walking distance to a couple places to eat, Lone Star and Juis Juis. This is a place a very special place. Next time we’re in Barbados this is where we’ll stay.
