Nestled on a tranquil beachfront, Santiburi Koh Samui is often lauded for its picturesque location and impeccably clean villas. Many guests appreciate the spacious and well-appointed accommodations, although a few have pointed out occasional cleanliness lapses. While the serene atmosphere and charming pool area are highlights, some visitors find the evenings too quiet and the entertainment options limited. The service receives mixed reviews, ranging from friendly and attentive to slow and inconsistent. Patrons also comment on the high prices of dining and spa services, questioning the overall value of their stay.

The resort is off the main tourist area. This make it a great place to spend quality time with the family. The staff are very friendly and helpful. When it rain they send a golf cart to fetch us from our villa to other parts of the resort. The villa are nice and big with a living room, a bedroom and a huge bathroom. We can walk from the resort to the local market (10mins). There are shops. cafe and local resturants within 5 mins walk from the resort. Highly recommended if you are looking for peace and quiet.

We’re writing this first as if like us you won’t read the whole review 🙂
The staff at Santiburi are like something we have never experienced. ALL the people are so nice, not forced but very genuine. Not once calling reception, room service, spa or housekeeping did we receive anything other than a friendly and happy response. I am disabled, the hotel supplied me with a wheelchair within 10 minutes, I or staff could ring reception for a buggy to take me anywhere within the hotel grounds it would arrive to me within minutes. The gate, housekeeping, bar, restaurant, beach, spa and garden staff looked after us over and above anything we have ever received done with a smile or a laugh.
We feel so lucky to have found Santiburi.
We spent 2 weeks in a Grand Deluxe Pool Villa and what a wonderful 2 weeks it was
The villa was immaculate when we arrived and stayed that way for the next two weeks. The villa smelt gorgeous all the time an oil burner was lit morning and evening when the room was cleaned and when the beds were turned down, an anti mosquito burner was lit out in the garden every evening. The pool and gazebo were the cherries on top, floating around the pool then lying on the gazebo bed with the fan blowing a soft cool breeze blowing down.
We only ate breakfast in the hotel as we like to go out and eat local food. Breakfast had a great choice of food and drinks, freshly cooked, baked and prepared. Rather than piling up the food on display they were constantly replenishing it that meant it was always beautifully fresh. The greeting, service, food, surroundings and staff were outstanding.
All in all a fantastic holiday. Thankyou!
Santiburi, if you need someone to go undercover to check out your hotels we’re the people for the job!!!

I stayed at the Santiburi for 8 days with my family of 5, in a Grand Deluxe Pool Villa. Really excellent villa, with plenty of space in the lounge for my three children (ages 10 to 14), all in their own beds. The private pool and outdoor covered seating area are excellent, with the pool cleaned daily by hotel staff.

Before my stay I would have found it helpful to understand the layout of the resort including location of the different types of villa - to help others I attach the resort map. You can see the garden villas are all centrally located whereas the grand deluxe with pool are at opposite side from the beach. I don’t think there’s much difference at all between the deluxe garden and the deluxe beachfront options; although the beachfront guarantees you to be right on the beach, there’s no exclusive access to the beach/your own sun loungers/hammocks. Our villa was no.603, one issue is not a very nice walk to and from; the pathway runs alongside the aircon units for the neighbouring suites. On the upside it’s closer to breakfast, main pool and the beach than the other equivalents.

All the staff were super polite and keen to help, always quick to respond to any issues. Breakfast was pretty good with lots of variety, my children enjoyed the fresh crepes. We enjoyed the beach house restaurant for dinner but there was little atmosphere elsewhere in the evenings. Instead we went out to fisherman’s village most nights, about 10 mins away by taxi.

The Santiburi beach is really beautiful and peaceful, with plenty of sun loungers available and cold water freely available all day. The hotel does offer massages at the beach but extremely over priced for the island evidenced by hardly any take up. We also thought the watersports kiosk is lacking options; there are two paddle boards available and a couple of kayaks but seemingly not much else. Overall though we had a great stay, it’s a well maintained resort and we thank all the staff for being so welcoming.

Pro : -Nice location , nice beach , good food and nice cocktails .
Negatives: -not as clean as you would expect a 5 star hotel or a 4 for that matter : switches in the room very dirty , bathrooms doors and shower quite dirty you could see where not cleaned for long time , dirty cutlery in the restaurant, extremely slippery shower.
It needs to be better illuminated in the garden and have a longer service at the bar. We arrived around 11 pm at the hotel and we wanted a sparkling water and a still water in the room-it wasn’t possible although there was staff around, as the bar was closed
Quite slow service at the beach in a situation where there weren’t too many people at the beach in fact in the 2 hours we stayed we haven’t seen them serving anyone else.

In the same trip we stayed at banyan tree for couple of nights and then we come here. There is a huge difference in quality and service surprisingly for the same amount of money per night

Well-maintained and very spacious complex, beautifully overgrown, large pool area and spacious reception area, friendly staff. The apartments are clean and well-maintained. The beach with palm trees and loungers is outstanding, it is probably unique on the island. Clean sand and a great view, fantastic! The guests are very pleasant and quiet, the complex exudes a wonderful sense of calm. The food is good, but not exceptional, for example it is a 10-minute drive to Fisherman Village and you can eat more typical food.

After a welcome drink we were escorted to our Deluxe Garden Villa, which was located just behind the beach front villas, so we fortunately had a partial view of the beach and sea. The villa was excellent and very spacious with plenty of power/USB sockets. The air-conditioning was perfect after the humidity outside.
There were always beds available on the beach and the towel guys would happily provide towels and water through the day. The breeze off the sea made it a beautiful location with not many people walking along the beach.
When venturing off the beach to the large pool, again the guys in the beach club would supply you with towels and drinks. The lack of a breeze at the pool which made it feel very hot was probably the reason that in the 8 days we were there the maximum number of people around the pool was about 10. We made use of the beach club and the happy hour for lunch with Petch always greeting us with a smile and giving excellent service.
Breakfast was excellent with a large variety of healthy, and not so healthy Thai and European options.
The gardens are excellent and they must take a great deal of effort to keep in their excellent condition. Various plaques round the site identify the plants and animals. On one occasion a snake was spotted by a guest and after being caught by a staff member he proceeded to give an ad-hoc talk on the snake and different types in the area. Very informative.
There are a few bars nearby but not audible, and the area is a quiet part of Mae Nam.
We eat at the Thai and beach front restaurant which were both excellent and covered in another review.
The staff are all very friendly and always greet you with a smile. Service is excellent, an example being we requested some milk for the room and by the time we had walked back to the room it had arrived.
We would happily return.

We had a wonderful stay at Santiburi with our two teens. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. The Grand Reserve Pool Villa was extremely comfortable and luxurious with a great outlook over our own very private garden and pool. This villa we highly recommend to others (couples or families). The beds were very comfortable. We loved the fresh fruit delivered to our room each day and the breakfast buffet's variety and taste was amazing. The fresh squeezed juices, pastries and freshly made omelettes and crepes were a hit. My boys ate about 5 plates of food each morning. The two restaurants had a good selection of tasty dishes and it was nice to eat right on the sand at the beachfront one. We also walked to various restaurants (Thai, Korean BBQ and Indian) all very close-by (and cheaper). Unfortunately we had a lot of storms and rain so we didn't go to the beach as much as we would have liked to, though we appreciated the staffs efforts to keep the beach very clean. The tiles around the main pool and on the way to the breakfast were a bit slippery after the rain so we had to tread carefully in places. Loved the lush gardens and tropical flowers everywhere. 2 for 1 cocktail hour was great as was the free welcome cocktail on the first evening. Appreciated the hotels efforts to be sustainable. The day spa is beautiful and the Thai massage was amazing. One tip - don't book your airport transfers through Santiburi or travel with their drivers around the island. Get a taxi or hire your own taxi/driver for the day as it will cost you half as much. Highly recommend the Samui Zipline nearby too - a great way to spend a few hours!

Dear KaznoDazmo, Thank you for your detailed and very nice review. We are glad that you and your family enjoyed your stay in one of our Grand Reserve Pool Villas and the stay with us in general. There was indeed an unexpected rough weather in southern Thailand during your visit but the sun is now back. Your note about the beach cleaning is also appreciated and has been shared with the team. Your point about the pricing of the limousine is noted for consideration and your recommendation about the zipline is also useful for the readers as one of the various activities that are available on Koh Samui. We take this oppotunity to wish you a Happy New Year. Sincerely, Alexandre Frenkel General Manager alexandre.f@santiburisamui.com

Even if the Santiburi is no longer completely the Santiburi that we had previously known, Covid-19 having hit hard, the hotel remains a very good choice for a relaxing holiday in Samui.

In reality, it remains the only luxury establishment to offer a real beach and that is undoubtedly the main thing!

The hotel historically has a first-rate environment! The beach is magnificent without major construction, even if the sea is honestly not transparent. The vegetation is also splendid. Our villa in the “grande reserve” section was comfortable with a private pool. In short, very nice facilities. No complaints.

This is perhaps the service that must improve quickly and pay attention to details so as not to let the competition from the Four Seasons, Six Senses & co disappear definitively. The breakfast choice must be expanded, the premises made more spacious, room attention more regular, a butler service redesigned, etc. Quite a program but that’s what luxury hotels are all about.

We cross fingers. The hotel, which has a true Thai tradition of hospitality, has in fact everything to do well with its unique location and benefits from the arrival of a new, very attentive general manager who strives to "juggle" with the requirements of each other, as well as the current limits of your team and/or budgets!

We were ultimately pampered, especially at the SPA. Our comments heard. Thank you 🙏

Special mention for the tennis teacher 🎾 of a very good level.

In short, we will undoubtedly come back after the major renovations announced for 2025!

A very good choice 👍!

We stayed for 7 days in July. We had a two bed duplex apartment in the main building. There was plenty space and the kids liked that they had an interconnected room. It was good to still have a living space.
The room was spotlessly clean and very authentically decorated. Not dated! Just very in keeping with the hotel. We loved the style and liked that it was Thai inspired.
We were very near the pool, reception and breakfast area. The beach is only a 3 min walk away too.
The kids loved the pool. We had it almost to ourselves most days.
We loved that the towels and water was given out at the beach and poolside so there were always fresh towels and cold water.
The staff throughout the resort were all fabulous. Extremely friendly and happy. They made us feel very welcome and always made the kids smile and laugh.
My kids enjoyed the daily football, sailing, paddle boarding and Thai boxing.
My youngest used the kids club. She is 9. We left the kids at kids club and played golf one afternoon. It was great as the older two (aged 12) could go to the pool and knew the kids club was there for them too.
The food was very very tasty at breakfast. A huge selection. We all loved our morning smoothie!
The Beach House had themed buffet nights where we sat at a table with our feet in the sand.
We only wish the hotel had more of an atmosphere at night. Maybe some music or live shows. Everyone seemed to eat then go back to their own villas. We could have sat out and chatted to people and the kids might have made friends if there was more entertainment.
We took taxis 3/4 times along to Fisherman’s Village for the markets and other restaurants.
We also went Go Karting and visited the Big Bhuddha.
We loved Santiburi. The Thai people made this a place we will love and most definitely hope to return to one day in the future. Thank you!!

Dear Jenny B, Thank you so much for taking the time to write this comprehensive review which I have just read loud to my colleagues earlier today. We are really happy to read to that you had an enjoyable family holiday with us at Santiburi Koh Samui and enjoyed the Duplex suites and their location above our Children's Camp and close to our swimming-pool. I am glad to read that you took advantage of the proposed activities as well. In regards to the entertainment we have introduced live music on rotation in the evening at the beach house since the beginning of August. So we appreciate the recommendation. It would also be a pleasure to welcoming you back to our Village of Peace and Tranquility. Sincerely, Alexandre Frenkel General Manager alexandre.f@santiburisamui.com

The grounds of this hotel are a testimony to the gardeners who work non stop to make the hotel look great, while the breakfast staff were great. Sadly however the waiting staff at some of the restaurants are not up to scratch. We had food at the pool and told them it had turned up cold, and the waiter then didn’t believe us so then decided the professional approach would be to try it for himself in front of us with his fingers. Suffice to say I was lost for words and from that point on decided to not eat at the restaurant (where the food is average and very overpriced). Only other comment (which have been made by other reviewers) is that the hotel has zero atmosphere where the bars are shut at 7pm and the restaurants deserted. Anyone visiting should factor into their booking that to get any buzz they will need to venture out to get this. Overall we left feeling disappointing as this was a very big holiday for us (joint 40th which we told the hotel numerous times and incidentally they didn’t do anything) as the price point is high for what was ultimately a pool villa with none of the other facilities up to scratch to then get a true hotel experience vs just pooling a villa in isolation at a much lower price point.
