Rooms (Wow ocean view) were spacious and had an extremely beautiful view over the shore and sea. Bed was very comfortabel and the (rain)shower was awesome. Only downside, it can get a little bit noisy sometimes when people decide to sit on their balcony in the middle of the night and don't have the decency to lower their voices.
The hotel is located on a steep hill, but that's no problem since they offer a 24/7 buggy service, which you can call anytime and they will be at your room within a minute. My advice is to rent a scooter, you'll be in Bophut/Mae Nam in a short amount of time. Taking a car or taxi during the day will get you into traffic jam, though at night that's less a problem. Bottomline, we didn't bother the more remote location of the hotel. In fact we liked the location very much, because of the tranquility and the beautiful views of the island. Restaurant was very good for dinner, they offer Thai but also Western food. The breakfast buffet was a bit crowded and the choices were a little bit disappointing compared to the food they offer for dinner. But there is enough fresh fruit and you can order your eggs anyway you like it.
The infinity pool had a beautiful view, maybe one of the best on Samui. However; during midday it can get really crowded, so if you wanna have the pool for yourself you should go early in the morning. The gym was well equipped and spacious enough.
Staff in general was very polite. They will do anything to make your stay very pleasurable. Pricewise I would say you get value for your money. Would definitely recommend this hotel!

I stayed in their WOW room with garden view. The room was absolutely amazing with very comfortable bed. Upon arrival I was welcomed by the front of house team and cold lychee juice, they took me to a lounge and picked me up when the room was ready as I have arrived at 10am.

For keen gym goers and people who like to lift weights - they have a well equipped gym and you can have a great workout there with smiths machine, bench press and a selection of dumbbells.

Breakfast: I fell in love with the coconut jam they have and I ate it every single day for breakfast. They offer a few options of eggs for breakfast from the menu and apart from that you can pick a few options from cereals, fruit, pastries, bread and chea pudding.

The restaurant was pretty pricey, I paid 250BHT for pad thai which was average I would say in comparison to what I have eaten on the market for 60BHT.
The resort is located on the hills and that was genuinely the only one bad thing about the hotel. They offer shuttle to Fisherman's Village and Chaweng Festival Mall for 200 BHT and airport transfer 600BHT (my transfer was included in the price as I booked through their website).

Due to the coronavirus and borders being closed down I had to leave the resort one day earlier and they were kind enough to charge me only for the number of nights I stayed - thank you so much for that.

I highly recommend Mantra for people who are looking for a few day of peacful holiday in Thailand.

Ok, the pictures are amazing but being there is something else. We stayed at the Mantra hotel just for 5 nights and it was a pleasant experience. Its so tranquil and calm we had an ocean view room and imagine just waking up and seeing an amazing view each morning. The porters with their little buggies whizzing you up and down to your room and reception made us feel very VIP. We hired a car to see the island as driving is really straight forward. We could go into the hustle and bustle of Fishermans Village or to Chewang or lamai beach and come back to the peace and tranquility of the Mantra. The rooms were clean and the staff were always on hand to help. Breakfast in the restaurant overlooking the sea is always something to look forward to. I would say the only downside about this place are some foreign guests who let the VIP treatment get to their heads so much so that they seemed unfriendly or maybe it was just the coronavirus outcome. But like the staff it doesnt hurt to say สวัสดีค่ะ or S̄wạs̄dī kh̀a...Mantra hotel keep it up we would definitely stay again. Just on a small note if you have small children under 14 this hotel may not be suited as it will suite people with children over 10 just based on the setting in the hills

When we first got there our Air conditioning wasn’t working and we had to call several times for them to fix it. They didn’t even mention breakfast was included in our stay and when we did have it it was awful and very limited. You are stuck on a very steep hill and they charge you money to take you down. The staff speaks no English and most of the requests we made were ignored. It’s laughable to call this a 5 star resort, at most a 3 star property. Not even close to worth the 150 dollars a night we ended up paying. We previously stayed at Celes beach resort which was similarly priced and was absolutely amazing in every way and a completely different tier. They couldn’t pay me to come back to Mantra. Very very misleading in their description of the property! stay away!!

We hired the WOW room for one night and we had the intention to stay longer. We didn’t because the room wasn’t WOW at all. The view from our room was on the roofs of other buildings (In the photos we saw while booking, the room had a beautiful view). The room is large, but the bathroom very small. The bed is wide but not comfortable and the pillows are very hard. The breakfast is not great. When I asked for an Earl Grey tea, they told me I had to pay for that, because only Breakfast tea was included. The swimming pool has a stunning view but contains a lot of chlorine.
The hotel is situated in the mountains. So you need to take the shuttle bus and pay 100 bath each time or hire a scooter.
In our opinion this hotel isn’t a five star hotel at all.

The hotel was beautiful, overlooked the sea with amazing views from every angle. Although it’s a bit further away from the main hubs the hotel offer shuttle services for a small price! Staff were lovely. However, breakfast was a little disappointing with a small variety and not enough food running out of certain ingredients! Overall still a beautiful place to stay

This resort has been one of the best that I have seen and experienced. The views are breathtaking as it is located on top of a mountain overlooking the ocean. The hotel also can arrange for you to go to the beach. I recommend the fisherman village beach.
The staff is the most professional that I have seen. Khun Mod, the front desk manager goes out of her way to provide a first-class service to the guest. She is always smiling, friendly and helpful with paying attention to detail. Tony is the best chef ever. You must try his cooking. The lady giving massage is the most professional masseur. Khun Prod, Khun Ann, and all other staff that I can't remember the names make your stay to be just first class and wonderful.
The hotel rooms are huge and you will find everything you need. The television set in my room was a smart tv set which means that I could project my mobile phone on it and enjoy the regular programming that I use on my phone.
And the pool? Infinity and ocean view. I loved swimming there.
It is a true 5-star resort. You will not regret staying in this resort.

We stayed in one of the Ocean View suites. Room was excellent and we were able to sleep 4 comfortably. The property is small, and pool is generally not busy - so it's quiet and relaxing. It's on a hill, so walk from reception to the room is difficult, but staff were usually available to shuttle us in golf carts. Resort is a good way from the beach, so you need to take the hotel shuttle to get there. I would not recommend walking to the beach - it's simply too far. Grab is available everywhere for transport, but there is currently an issue with Grab providers and taxi drivers, so you might need to walk a bit to pick up your ride if the pickup is close to a taxi area. Recommend getting a sim card at he airport and using Grab for all your transport. We had a great time at the Mantra Resort and we would return there for sure.

+Very good room and cleaning.
+Great pool area.
+Good gym.

+-Ok service

-The location is good in itself, because its a very quiet area and good for couples but they charge for shuttle bus to the city unlike other 5 star hotels and i felt like the times the shuttle departs and go back could be improved.
-Restaurant expensive and just ok food at best.

The property is located on top of the hill so views are amazing from everywhere! Would definitely recommend that.
I had two different rooms (both Oceanview suites), overall room is great some finishes a bit old/used but clean. The view is fantastic but I had issues with the shower/bathroom. My first room had decent shower/water pressure but still very low. The room had a bathtub and that was one the main reason we paid extra for it, but it was impossible to use it! It takes hours to fill up and by the time it does the water is cold... unless you are looking for a cold tub you won't be happy. Also the second room we had was even worse, no water pressure at all, raindrop shower head didn't work because of it (( we reported the issue, technician came to check if but it was never fixed (we stayed for 7 days). Another issue was some bad smell coming out of the drain every so often, it would goaway once some water gets through it but still was annoying and taking time to go away once it's there. So great bathroom on photos only )) like in many of those hotels...
Very steep hill so walking would be hard if you are older or out of shape, but we enjoyed it and hotel stuff always there to give you a ride! So it's not an issue, just worth mentioning.
Food was OK, the only thing I would probably get again was fried rice )) everything else is to forget... nothing worth mentioning at all, good ingredients very poor execution.

So overall you are paying for nice clean rooms and fantastic views. Still have to try more options to compare and see for myself if it's worth the money but we did have a good time overall and I know it could be much worse))
So good luck to everyone, hope they fix some issues and hire a chef so I would definitely come back!
