Stopped here on a tour to chichen itza pyramids, I was on a official tour, supposedly? , I bought a gift in the venue gift shop and was charged twice after they told me the contacless transaction I had made was declined and the machine had frozen so couldn't print decline notification, they bought another contacless machine and the transaction went through, unfortunately for me so did the first transaction same amount £110 twice one minute apart, my bank are investigating so hopefully will get one £110 back. As earlier reviewer has said this gift shop is a scam and the hotel is obviously part of this, if you visit this place please pay with cash and make sure you read the receipt, a fool and his money are easily parted and I am that fool sadly, dont get duped.

Our bus tour of Chichen Itza included a Mexican buffet lunch at Hotel del Real Mayab (outside Kaua). I had no idea that this was a hotel. We never saw it. I was a little skeptical when the bus pulled into the parking lot..there were 3-4 other tour busses already there. We were greeted by the owner, a sample of a fermented honey liquor, and prayers by the resident Curandero. The blessing included some incense and green herbs dipped in water. We were then led directly to one of two buffet lines. The servings were generous, freshly prepared, and hot. We were promptly seated. …plenty of seats available. Our tour included a complimentary drink. The waiters were prompt and eager to serve. After lunch, we proceeded to the adjoining gift shop, which featured many obsidian stones and carved gifts. There were more Curanderos (Shamans) available to bless your purchases. The lunch at Real del Mayab, was a perfect break after our Chichen Itza tour. I definitely would return.…

We stopped at the Mayab Hotel on a day-long tour from Tulum. En route to the hotel and adjoining gift shop our tour-guide told us all about the history of the local Mayan community. We were told that a shaman would give us a blessing on arrival and that our purchases would contribute greatly to the local Mayan people. With that in mind we happily perused the gift shop and it’s offerings. A bracelet caught my eye and when I asked how much it cost I was told $1000mx. So I bought the bracelet and chatted to some of the employees. It was only the next day when I checked my bank account did I realise that they had charged me over $9000mx! I contacted the Real Mayab Hotel immediately and was in contact with one of the employees via WhatsApp for a number of days. I explained the situation and showed him photos of my receipts. He tried to negotiate a price with me through text (as he knew I had been scammed in the gift shop), and said he would get some of the money back to me. This continued for a few days until he stopped answering my texts and calls, and I heard nothing else from him. I also contacted our tour guides once I realised what happened. They assured me they would resolve the issue that day and gave me their mobile number so I could contact them. Later that afternoon I discovered they had given me a fake number. These guys are all in cahoots and are scam artists. The tour guides seem to take a cut from whatever purchases the visitors make at the gift shop, as I saw them siphoning through all the receipts while my tour was having lunch. When I told our tour guides that I had been robbed at the Real Mayab Hotel, he just replied “yes”. I can’t imagine I’m the first person this has happened to. It left such a sour taste after what was seemingly a lovely wholesome experience. Avoid Real Mayab Hotel at all costs!!!…

Our Chichen Itza tour group stopped in for a pre-arranged buffet lunch in this hotel. It was nicely done and the food was tasty with a good variety of local cuisine. Purchased jewelry from the on-site store in which there were many arts and crafts from which to choose and at a variety of prices. We were told that shopping and dining here supports the Mayan community.

We recently returned from an Amazing self drive, self guided tour around the Yucatan with our family of 4. The only real plans we had were the hotel for the first night or two and the hotel for the last night, both of which I selected when making the flight reservations. I wanted something near Chichen Itza, but not quite as touristy as many of the places I found. I thought Real Mayab was going to be it. It was clean, staff was very friendly, and the rooms were comfortable enough, but we clearly weren't their target. While it has some bungalows (that were in a beautiful setting) and a handful of rooms, I believe it exists mainly for contracted tour buses on the way to Chichen Itza. they provide the same buffet lunch every day, and follow the same routine daily of opening up the gift shops, putting out drinks, and setting up the buffet, but it was definitely routine. While we had intended to use it as basecamp for a few days, we stayed two nights of 4 and moved on. I wouldn't recommend it for a long term stay.…

The reason I have mixed feelings is because the beds in the bungalows were dirty and old. However, the service and hospitality was great. The property was beautiful and we'll kept. The best part was the breakfast. Try the cochinita pibil!

The staff at the hotel were very friendly and helpful. The room was clean but sparsely furnished. We did not have hot water for the 2 nights we stayed there. The beds were a bit hard and unfortunately the room smelled quite musty. The grounds are very well kept and the pool is very clean and refreshing.

The hotel seemed to be quite empty, which was nice in my opinion. The level of infrastructure however must not be cheap to maintain. The price was average for a Mexican hotel and the restaurant served local cuisine buffet style. A nice location outside the business of the city.

The good:First of all it is a very friendly and nice place! Great Huts! All Need and clean. Super hot water.Verry helpful friendly staff, good Restaurant! The bad: the Internet WIFI is only available around the reception. No Internet in the huts! The connection quality is almost useless. Super slow and was not able to send out 2 emails. However, the place is in the middle of nowhere, so Internet may had to get. Nearby village has Internet. They should invest in good Internet or state that there is no good Internet available. The ugly: very loud trucks passing (US style Long distance trucks). Hotel is next to Highway. Sounds like a prop plane ... and you here it approaching, passing, and Fading away .. all night. To top that they renovated 3 huts at the same time during our stay with heavy noisy continious grinding works ... they stopped after we complained. Suggestion: invest in Internet and promote a perfect Connection (net via satellite is not expensive and superfast). Charge low Season Prices when you are renovating in high Season! plannt lots of dense plants to block the noice or install Sound proof Windows (hard to do .. I know). It's a bad Location so Close to the Highway. Maybe apply for Speed reduction Zone.…
