You can find some beautiful pictures on the internet about the Flamingo Tours in Rio Lagartos. I came here to see the Flamingos. I was GRANDPAcking in Rio Lagartos for 3 nights. I booked only 1 day in advance. I did this on purpose … I was looking for a ‘last minute’ discount. I needed a discount to be able... More

Manager is the most stubborn and rude person I've met in a while. Beds have bugs (as stated by some german guys in google maps). If you by any chance enter the room where they store "clean" sheets and supplies you won't stay in this place any minute longer. WiFi signal is terrible.

My fishing partner and I spent 2 weeks at this wonderful little gem of a place in April. (It was our second stay) You can see the patio in front of our 2nd floor room to the left in the picture. That is a wonderful place to either watch the sun rise over the ocean each morning or to look... More

When I arrived at Rio, Hotel Punta Ponto was recommended by some Canadians I met at a restaurant. I got a huge room next to the desk, the only room available. Clean, good linens, a comfortable bed and good water pressure and hot water. Right on the water front. Price was very reasonable. The owner was onsite, spoke English and... More

If you are looking for a down to earth, authentic, away from the commercial hubbub of Cancun and the like experience, then this peaceful Mexican fishing village of Rio Lagartos is for you. We chose the Punta Ponto based on others' reviews and were not disappointed. Roger and Sylvia are genuinely gracious and generous hosts who make every effort to... More

Rio Lagardos for me is really a small fishery village. Therefore, I didn't expect a high-end hotel to stay but just hope I can have a comfortable room to stay. In my opinion, this one is really a nice one to stay even though there are something which should be improved. The room is large but the bed is not... More

This is a comfortable small hotel located right on the malecon a few blocks from the town center, such as it is. Roger, the proprietor, was friendly and helpful and provided a decent breakfast each morning. The area around the hotel is generally quiet, except for the occasional motorcycle and the usual barking dogs that populate all small Mexican towns. Rio... More

This is not a fancy hotel by many standards, but my son and I loved staying there. It is clean, comfortable and moderately priced. My only recommendation to Roger, the owner, is to try to upgrade the bathrooms just a bit. Nevertheless, there are so many positives about staying here. Roger is intelligent, witty and resourceful. The breakfast was great... More

Rio Lagartos is a serene village right next to the lagoon. Punta Ponto has clean rooms, with good wifi and beautiful views from the balconies. If you want to watch birds Punta Ponto can arrange tours of all kind with ecotours. Our guide Santiago spook both English and Spanish.
