We stayed just the one night on the basis of other reviews and overall were not disappointed. Staff very friendly and helpful. Food of a good quality and very tasty. Wine list was very good too. Our room was very nicely furnished however it was quite tight on space given the bed size. No complaints though as we slept soundly....

Booked last minute for my Birthday What a find, made to feel welcome and not rushed. Refurbished to a high standard food we have not tasted this good for a long time. Full of smiling staff and customers shame we are not local planning the next trip this could involve a stay the rooms look fab. We would like to...

Lovely Hotel with Bar and really good restaurant. Highly recommended for a lovely weekend away. Food in the restaurant was excellent and the staff could not be more helpful and friendly. Also really good cooked breakfast.

Four of us went to The Dog for a drink after we had been out for lunch. This was my first visit and I was pleasantly surprised when I walked in. All very modern and cosy with a lovely fire. The atmosphere felt good and when I saw the dining room and the happy customers enjoying their Sunday roasts, I...

Gerry, I am very sorry that you had this experience. I am sure that my barman did not mean to offend and they should have absolutely explained that we are very proud of our Gin bar of more than thirty different gins and we would love to advise you on an exciting new gin to try. I am going to...

The hotel (and bar and restaurant) have recently been taken over, and it's clear the new owners are out to impress. The family suite is spacious and beautifully decorated. The mattresses are nice a firm, but the pillows are feather (I'm allergic, which was a bit of an issue - should have remembered to take my own). It's also nice...

Hi Rachael, Thanks for your feedback. I am sorry that we missed your bed request, as well as The Dog being new, so are our systems and we are trying to learn more everyday and improve. I see that you booked through our website, I have just checked the process and it does say no pets, could you please tell...

The easiest thing to do is show you the email I sent to the owners on the 15th October from whom I have not had any sort of reply. My husband and I stayed overnight at your establishment on the 7th September this year. We arrived at the Dog quite late and the room looked OK. Nothing special. Very small....

Good Morning Squeak Gone Mad, We welcome fair and constructive criticism. However you seem to have forgotten entirely what happened. You and your husband were not even booked into The Dog. You were booked to stay with our friends at The Duke William in the neighbouring village, however due to an error on their part they had been overbooked and...

If it had been bigger, it would have been perfect. But Room 5 is really tiny. The room and bathroom were renovated in an extremely tasteful manner, the bed was very comfortable but it would have worked as a single room much better. We were unlucky as the restaurant closes at 4pm on a Sunday, our fault for not reading...

Hi Christine, Thanks for your feedback. All of our rooms are individually styled and are of different sizes and all priced accordingly. Glad that you liked the decor and that the bed was comfortable. Hopefully you will come back to try our food and maybe a different room. They all have the same fantastic Hypnos beds! Best, Marc

We stayed overnight for a family wedding a week ago. The rooms are cosy, with the bed taking up most of the space, but I'd prefer that to an uncomfortable squash with my husband! Nothing was too much trouble, and I would happily go back just to feel so well looked after! Thanks to all the staff.

Locals who have fallen in love with this place. New owners are fab and the food and drinks are excellent. Saw the new rooms for the first time today and they are first class. Definitely recommend for a lovely glass of wine by the fire or a delicious meal in very upmarket surroundings and welcoming and warm staff.

We had Sunday lunch there last weekend and it was fantastic. Food was very tasty and cooked very well. My sister had the roast beef option and it was cooked to perfection. Very generous portions with good selection of vegetables and in particular the roast potatoes, nice and crispy! Service was attentive and not intrusive. Very friendly. Since my last...
