When you stay at Prato di Sotto, it's very easy to leave all your worries behind you, switch of your mobile and just relax. The location is staggeringly beautiful with views across the hills and down to the tiny hamlet of Santa Guiliana. Penny is a fantastic host who knows all the best things to do, including visits to nearby...

I have been visiting this exquisite complex of apartments on a spectacular hillside in Umbria for almost 20 years, seeing the cypress trees grow tall and the roses that cover the terraces with flowers in June and July grow more and more luxuriant. The situation is heavenly, a tranquil position among the olive groves with orioles and nightingales singing in...

We first visited Prato di Sotto two years ago, on the recommendation of a friend - and since then all we seem to do is count the days till we're back there. Prato di Sotto is a magical place: the breath-taking views over the towers of a medieval village in the valley beneath; the sweet herby scent of the hills...

We spent a week at Prato di Sotto for a family event and absolutely loved the place. The swimming pool was perfect for the 7 children (aged 6-11, all adequate swimmers) and also for the adults to dive in and do lengths. The rooms are beautifully decorated and very comfortable and we enjoyed dining out on the lower terrace watching...

We only stayed for four nights but wish we'd been able to stay much longer. Having read some of the other reviews I'm not sure that I have enough new adjectives to describe the truly amazing place that is Prato di Soto. We stayed in Il Molino, a delightful apartment that has views over the valley - early morning sunrises...

Spectacular views, beautiful apartments, the wonderful walks through olive groves and woodlands, the pristine swimming pool and above all the charm and the care of the owner have kept me coming back to Prato di Sotto for nearly 20 years. In that time the lovely gardens have matured, the cypresses grown taller and the owner has extended her knowledge of...

Over many years, Penny Radford has created a fantastic haven in the Umbrian countryside. Sensitively renovated and restored ancient buildings set in beautiful gardens look out over an unspoilt valley and a fortified stone village below. It's really a magical place with many walks and nearby places of interest to visit, all of which Penny is only too willing to...

This was our 5th visit to Prato Di Sotto - which is an indication of just good it is. We have previously always stayed at the La Capanna cottage and loved its position and view - it's an ideal romantic place for a couple. But as this was to be a family holiday, we decided to book the large house...

If your idea of a great Italian holiday is a day of walking in breathtaking scenery, exploring lovely medieval villages, food and wine that is some of the best to be found anywhere in Italy, and then to be able to return 'home' to a glass of wine by a stunning pool, and the opportunity to while away a pleasant...
