I lead a yoga retreat at Balenbouche last week & was so happy to offer my participants such a sweet slice of paradise. The grounds are beautiful as are the accommodations. Everything the site says is accurate: the buildings are integrated into the larger environment...More
Returning to Balenbouche at night after a long day of driving, adventuring, and enjoying the beautiful island felt like coming home. The estate itself felt like our yard, and the cottage like our own little private home. We even felt like we knew the dogs...More
La Balenbouche stands apart from the other resorts we stayed at or visited on St Lucia. It is a genuinely family-run guest house which provides a characterful place to stay, friendly dogs, the occasional dinner, peace and seclusion. Our room had a faded charm albeit...More
We just returned from a 3 day stay at the Almond cottage at Balenbouche and the trip was too short! We had stayed for a week in a house in Soufriere and happened to find this place as we were looking for something close to...More
I went to Balenbouche last July to celebrate the birthday of my local friend, but we had mixed feelings about Balenbouche.
Although the first welcome was okey, they showed us the place and cottage, the cottage itself was not clean (forgotten). We wanted to take...More

When the couple arrived, the lady immediately said that she "hated dogs." Because we have several dogs and we didn't want them to feel uncomfortable, we asked them if they wanted to find another place to stay. Our dogs are not aggressive and actually very...More
Balenbouche Estate is a Historic Plantation Guesthouse offering several tropical vacation cottages. The 80 acre property includes an expansive park with colonial plantation house, 18th century sugar mill, yoga barn, …Morefruit orchards, lily ponds, nature trails and two secluded beaches just a 5 minute walk away. Balenbouche is not a resort and remains a working organic farm, heritage site, and family residence with a focus on wellness, sustainability and conservation. Our eco-chic accommodations are created from historic structures and sleep between 2 and 6 people, some include kitchens. We prepare breakfast daily, and dinner 2 - 3 times a week by reservation. There is a restaurant within walking distance. Several other St Lucia restaurants as well as a supermarket are a short drive away. We are located 20 minutes from the International airport and 30 minutes from the town of Soufriere, near many of the islands best attractions. Balenbouche is a magical place, a world in itself, popular with artists, photographers, green travelers, wedding couples, honeymooners and families. Our family has owned and managed the estate for three generations. Gradually, the property was transformed into a well known St Lucia attraction, guesthouse and retreat venue. Many of our guests feel very much at home at Balenbouche Estate, and keep returning! Less
