We stayed at 3 different Pig's Inns. This one is known as the Oil Factory as it was once a, well, rapeseed oil factory. But now there's a scrumptious breakfast in the morning and free bike's to explore all the adjacent rice fields via level paved roads. Our room was modernized and super comfortable, especially the bathroom. The Inn is spread out and would be perfect for larger groups. As an independent traveling couple it was a bit sprawling. But it was enticing to explore the expansive grounds and buildings and unique former factory paraphernalia.
There were 9 of us staying for two nights whilst we visited the Yellow Mountains and it was perfect. The rooms were lovely and warm and the food they served at dinner was amazing. A great variety of delicious traditional Chinese food. The staff were friendly and helpful and on the day we checked out they let us use their bikes for a cycle around the village. Would definitely recommend this place to others coming to this area.
I came with 5 friends for a king weekend, I heard about the amazing place and I wanted to came to see and experience the genuine life in old China. This wonderful and charming hotel is really what we call an real Chinese experience, the beauty, the nature, the real contact with Chinese life. The other hotel is just 1 Km away in the fields, is an old oil factory, really impressive, the owner, a super kind young men called More, is so kind ! The place is beautiful, they preserved the old shape and valorize everything , keeping an eye on the old tradition, the furnitures are beautiful, old and so mean full, the employees so sweet and kind! Pig's Inn Bishan Oil Factory is a delightful place to stay and chill for a couple of days. Located on the outskirts of Bishan it is about 20mins walk to the Bishan village where the other Pig's Inn is located. We like the environment which is quiet and there are so many nooks and corners to rest your weary feet after a day of exploration in the nearby ancient Hui villages. Particularly at the stone seats beside the river where you can read a novel and sip the tea that is readily available in the inn. Conceptually, it is amazing to stay in an old oil factory, that is refurnished into a boutique inn with clean bedlinens and towels but basic room amenities which is probably in line with rustic nature of the factory buildings. The various spacious living spaces are superbly decorated with comfortable seating areas, with vases of fresh flowers everywhere and there is a yoga room too. The staff are helpful and service level is excellent. We had a few meals and generally the cooking is quite delicious and the prices reasonable.. However, the maintenance and general cleanliness need closer supervision and improvement - The bathroom is not scrubbed properly behind the door where dust has settled deep into some of the tiles grouting and there is mold on the area behind the tap. There were balls of dirt underneath the dining buffet table on the first day which was subsequently swept away and we had to ask the staff to clean the water dispenser's tray in the living area as it was lined with dirt. Note: this place is suitable for people who love the quiet countryside. We did not find Bishan village as interesting as the other villages except for the famous branch of Nanjing's Xianfeng Book store.…
