This hotel tried hard to be a lovely fancy stay. Tray ceilings, ornate lamps, good sized rooms. Unfortunately that does not make up for the fact that the rooms were only heated from 6:30 to 11 pm (space heaters controlled by the lobby) and there was no hot water for showers. This was in April when we were still seeing regular snow in the area. The view, if the weather cooperates is wonderful (except for the billboards on the neighboring hotels blocking the Meli peaks) but this hotel is not for Westerners looking for a comfortable stay. The desk clerk spent an hour attempting to get the room card to turn on the electricity in the room before finally admitting we needed to change rooms. She was reluctant to do so because the other rooms had torn draperies and other flaws. This hotel has obviously not been kept up. The hotel carpet was filthy and stunk of excrement (noticeably so when the heat was actually on).

“Their idea of a good room is 4th floor. True the view is great but the cold winds from the open doorway on the roof come right down to that floor, plus you have to hike up four flights each time (and you are at high altitude so it is tiring)”
