So disappointed. Having mistakenly left my 4 Pandora bracelets in the room and then for them not to be handed in I’m gutted will never use this one again. Don’t know if I will ever trust a Travelodge. They were irreplaceable most discontinued charms and a total of nearly £2000 with so many memories lost and gone forever. I’ve shed so many tears at my stupidness and loss.
We stayed 4 nights here on a trip to the north-east. The reception was efficient and friendly. the room was large AND had 2 chairs!!! It was clean and was not visited by staff for the duration of our stay by agreement. Breakfast was extra and not really good value for money - a pack containing milk, cornflakes, pain au chocolat, a cereal bar and a carton of orange juice. it was all chilled which was fine for the milk and the juice but not for the pain, which was rather solid. There was a restaurant next door which we used on 3 of the nights. Most importantly, we felt Covid safe here.
Lovely and clean. The staff were very friendly and couldn't do enough for you.Nothing was too much trouble. We were in room 17 which is under the front door. So at night you could hear the entance door bang. There's a Vintage Inn next door called the Church Mouse. Good food. There is a fantastic Indian restaurant 5 minutes walk away. Very close to Beamish to use as a base.
Travelodge as expected...you get what you pay for. Despite it being almost entirely empty they still managed to check in a noisy family of 5 into the room next door, whilst aware that I was a night shift worker. The best bit are when they asked be to leave with 2 hours notice. Whilst I understand this was not their fault and under government direction, absolutely no care given to what I was going to do (ended up sleeping in my car for 3 hours prior to an 11 hour shift). Thank god the Mecure hotel chain stayed open for key workers!!
The room was in top condition and all facilities in very good order. The staff were both friendly and helpful and we were made to feel welcome. This is a budget lodge living well above its description
