We loved our two night stay at Safari Lodge in late Nov 2015. I had done loads of research on where to go with our family of five, and this lodge gave us an experience of a life time. Food was excellent, and service was great too, very friendly and personal. Saw amazing amount of animals and wildlife - even... More

We received this as part of a Regent Seven Seas cruise--for free--so our expectations were modest. In fact, we were blown away. For first-time safari people, we enjoyed accommodations that were very appropriate, serviced by a wonderful, attentive staff. But the best part was our guide--Daniel--who found dozens of specimens, including giraffes, elephants, lions, and many others. He was extraordinarily... More

This was our 2nd visit to Amakhala but our first to this Lodge. It is on the northern side of the N2, at the northern part of the Reserve, with most animals being in the southern side of the N2, and which means that time is taken on each game drive crossing over to and back from there. The Lodge... More

Stayed for a couple of nights in a small group, mainly for the game drives. The lodge is promoted as a romantic setting, and one can see why; all rooms have private facilities opening to the outdoors, a small plunge pool and terrace facing the reserve, totally private, double bath, double outdoor shower and big double bed. The decor is... More

We travelled as a family in August this year and spent 5 nights here. We have been to many safari resorts in South Africa and pleased to say this one is special. For its price point this offers a great experience. They really know what they are doing across the board... and some of the small details e.g. mini grills... More

We were booked into this reserve as part of a Kuoni tour of The Garden Route South Africa. We knew what we wanted from a Game Reserve stay and this place not only lived up to our expectations but exceeded them despite of a couple of wet days. All of the staff were very welcoming on arrival and very cheerful... More

A wonderful experience and would definitely recommend Amakhala. Just wish we could have stayed longer. Excellent service; lovely accommodation; food was great. We stayed for one night but to do justice to the place, would recommend guests stay longer.

First of all, the Safari Lodge itself is nested in a small green valley providing a welcoming sense of intimacy and protection from the open space. The room themselves, located in cottages made of red adobe walls with an architecture reminding the African Savanah, are spacious and decorated with an elegant taste. The bath room, with its candles and welcoming... More

Great place to do a safari. From the moment you arrive, you are met with drinks and a refreshing flannel from your butler (Thando for us) - the same welcome after every game drive. The rooms were spacious, warm and very comfortable, and every evening they come and turn down your bed. Ask for lodge 2 which overlooks the watering... More
