We'd been to the Anchor Hotel before and had actually stayed there on two occasions but we hadn't been for some time when we called in the other day - but we were pleased to find that the same old cosy atmosphere, hearty no-nonsense cooking and pleasant service remained. It was early autumn but still warm enough to sit outside....

We stayed at the Anchor hotel as our usual guest house in the village was full. We were upgraded to the apartment room on the second floor. The bedroom was adequate although the extra single bed took up floor space. There was no wardrobe or drawer space just a rail. It appeared not to be finished. As well as this...

Hello John, thank you very much for taking the time to post a review. The apartment is indeed a flexible space and furnishings do change depending on guest needs, but hope the additional kitchen and lounge gave you a sense of space and privacy. So glad you enjoyed the food! - we do try hard to get that right. Hopefully...

Popped in for a drink, nothing special to report, staff were a bit miserable, was just convenient as was passing by on our mountain bikes and needed a pit stop. Outside setting is nice and overlooks the harbour

Hello there, thanks for giving us a try and popping in. We are indeed an ideal place to stop if you are on a bike or out walking the dog. Shame we let you down on hospitality though - not our usual way I can assure you - hope you enjoyed your holiday and if you are ever back this...

Excellent food, particularly the seafood. Although the restaurant was busy, the service was prompt and the staff were efficient. We stay nearby in a caravan at Dalbeattie and will certainly eat here again.

We ate here on our second night staying at Solway Pine Cottages near Kippford. It was recommended in the literature and we weren't disappointed. This little unassuming pub with slightly worn tables but a lovely feel about it was great. We had the chicken sizzler, a lovely piece of chicken in a brandy and chilli cream sauce, with chips and...

We walked down from the Kippford Holiday Park and were warmly welcomed by the staff. It was reasonably busy when we visited but the staff took the time to be pleasant, helpful and personable. I particularly liked the fact they remembered you during the evening including our teenagers' likes and dislikes. The food was of a very high standard and...

Limited parking behind the hotel beside kitchen entrance and bins so not pleasant first impression. Not convinced enough parking there for one car for each room as...

Visited Anchor Hotel recently with two friends. We were booked in for two nights but the weather was so bad on the second day we decided to leave early. The hotel is well situated in this delightful village, with views over the water. It is extremely popular so seemed to be teaming with people at all times of day.
