Nestled between Lough Corrib & Lough Mask in Connemara, an area renowned for its rugged beauty & unforgettable scenery. Our family has been welcoming visitors to Connemara for over half a century now. Fishermen, ramblers, cyclists and visitors from all over the world just love the laid-back atmosphere here. Our 20 en-suite bedrooms are large & comfortable & our food is superb. We are told we serve some the best Chowder, Seafood and Steaks in Connemara, not to mention the lively music and craic we serve in our bar.New to Fairhill House Hotel is our membership with the Irish Whiskey Trail. We now have 150 different whiskies on offer, including the first malt produced in Kentucky since 1919, Pearse Lyons whiskey... distilled by an Irishman of course! It is without a doubt one of the largest selections in the West of Ireland.

I had to visit this hotel in Clonbur,Co. Galway today and was delighted with the service i received. I parked outside the main doors which to me was very convenient and was delighted to find out that their was also a large parking area in the rear of the hotel. On entry to the lobby of the hotel i was greeted by a young polite member of staff and after he introducing himself, he swiftly went through the Covid 19 protocol which the hotel had adopted by guidelines set out by the government.
Secondly i went to the bar area to get some food and again was greeted by a young member of staff who took my order .The food was delicious and full credit has to be given to the Chef and the kitchen staff. The bathrooms were spacious, clean and there was no shortage of soap and hand sanitizers. Finally i have to say the premises was spotless and it was evident that great care has been undertaken to keep the hotel in great condition. For anyone visiting Cong,Clonbur and the Connemara area the Fairhill House Hotel is wonderful place to stop for lunch or alternatively stay a few days. As Arnold Schwarzenegger once said....I LL BE BACK....

Unusually my wife & I had a few days off at the same time just after Christmas so decided to make the most of it and head away for a few days. Choose Fairhill House as reviews were good and it was dog friendly - well that it is and in spades.
Reception was empty when we arrived, but it is a small hotel and times are tough for the hospitality industry but there was a very nice lady in the adjacent bar who checked us in and gave us the run down for breakfast etc.
The food we ate on the two nights was excellent with quite generous portions as well. They also allow well behaved dogs in the bar so it was really nice to have our little fellow with us for a few drinks as other residents and non residents did also. Lovely touch from the chef and the same lady serving us breakfast on the two days the cooked some rashers for us to take back to the dog with a bowl of water, small thing but a wonderful gesture.
Room was fine, perhaps a little chilly, with a balcony which would have been lovely in better weather - but it is always nice to walk out and get some air. Bathroom again fine with a decent shower in the bath. Only small concern would be the walls are a little thin thankfully next door was quiet but soundproofing is not great.
Adherence to Covid measures was strict with vaccination certs requested, frequent sanitation of public spaces and laminated menus and mask wearing.
We really enjoyed our stay and it is quite certain we will be back as it is so nice to have the dog welcomed in a hotel rather than just tolerated (and even then by only a few hotels in the country). There are only a few like that and they all seem to be in the Galway / Connemara region oddly.

I have stayed in this place a few times in the past & have always enjoyed my stay. This is the first time I stayed with the HA. I just called in the afternoon & fortunately got through to Eddie, the host with the most. Not alone did he have a room but he gave us a 'King' room with spacious balcony with lovely views of the countryside & the mountains in the distance. Covid 19 precautions were in evidence throughout & that was reassuring.we decided to eat in the hotel bar & our waitress was the lovely Aoife who was friendly & pleasantly efficient. The evening was so pleasant that we requested & got an outside table. The food met the usual high standards but there were a few little glitches with the service. The HA got the wrong dish & it took an inordinate time to get the correct one. Also I had to reorder because my original choice was unavailable. However we were very happy with the quality when matters were sorted. The proprietor, Eddie, was keeping a watchful eye on all the activities.
We had a very restful night in our lovely room & enjoyed a hearty breakfast before we checked out. The receptionist who checked us out was obviously multitasking because she was also our waitress at breakfast. Her name was Yulia & she was friendly, pleasant, helpful & quietly efficient. We will be happy to recommend this place to our friends & we will look forward to staying there again next time we are in the area.

Nobody there upon arrival to check in with no bell or signage to advise what on protocol was in place for this. Had to go into the main bar to get staff attention which the man serving us was not happy about with no welcoming. He asked the name of the book handing a form to sign and provided keys without looking up or acknowledging either of us once no other information given regarding check out times of breakfast times. We later had to go into the bar again to get this information to which we had the same experience as before staff did not even lift there head to look speak to me. Kettle provided in the room but no cups or tea / coffee as advised. One small circle bar of soap in bathroom for both shower and sink use between the two of us. We are aware and understand the current strains involving COVID-19 however €110 euro is very steep for service provided. Breakfast was very good, tasty with good portion size and staff accommodated requests which were not on the menu. Breakfast servers also great to deal with. The most positive part of the experience.
Also tried to leave google reviews twice but both were deleted.

Not having been away since March, we wanted a quiet getaway, and decided to return to Clonbur
We booked Fairhill House again, as we have stayed before. The rate of €55.00 per person B&B was reasonable, considering we've heard hotel prices were very high this year. We were also a bit nervous about social distancing, but there was no need to worry, as everything was in place, and we felt very safe .
We dined in the bar/restaurant on our first night, and the food was excellent, I definitely recommend the chowder, and I had lovely crispy fresh fish & Chips
It was lovely to have a weekend away, and we were delighted with our choice of Fairhill again.

We recently stayed in this lovely hotel. From arrival we had a good feeling about it, friendly staff, very nice room, very clean and tidy. The bar area was really nice with a theme of fishing and angling to go with the area attractions. The food was lovely, well prepared and presented. The owner, Eddie, was very pleasant and sociable and made us feel very welcome. Breakfast was served in the back dining and function room, a very impressive place. Overall a thoroughly enjoyable stay.

Top class services rooms clean, staff friendly, food outstanding and very good overall value for money.

Staff couldn't do enough special touch to have the chef walk the floor at the end of service the menu is well designed something for all tastes and styles.

Hotel strict on all covid restrictions to keep staff and guests safe.

Will be back for sure

I contacted the restaurant to enquire about a table for 8 at very short notice, due to a problem with a reservation at another restaurant, for my wife’s birthday, while on holiday in County Mayo. They couldn’t have been more accommodating. They even apologised because the only tables they had available were ‘in the back room’, which was still a nice place to be.
Service was outstanding. Our drinks order was taken promptly and food order shortly after. Small amendments to the children’s meals were not a problem.

The food….wow! The food was incredible. Between the 8 of us, we ate a variety of meals from the menu. I personally had the beef burger. It was probably one of the best burgers I have ever had. So juicy, fresh and full of flavour. Everyone at the table said similar about their meals too, with compliments going to the chef for the seafood dish in particular, which was described by my wife as “sensational”.

The menu isn’t cheap, with most main meals coming in at around €20. But when you get this level of service, combined with the quality of the food, we really didn’t mind paying it.

Overall, a fantastic experience and we will be booking to go again before we leave Ireland.

2nd time to stay here, 2 nights B&B, allocated a lovely room with balcony with great views. Whilst there was a lot of positives to our stay like the lovely food including great breakfast and location I felt it wasn't as enjoyable as our previous stay due to the attitude of the staff. The bar staff are not very friendly and one barman in particular is downright abrupt even borderline rude. I am sure the owner is well aware by now of this as he is usually hovering in the background.
