We stayed for 2 nights with a tour group of 10 people. The 'cabins' were basic, but comfortable. A large bathroom with an open shower. There was a front deck from which the local birds and the forest could be viewed. The cabin air-conditioning struggled during the day to keep the temperature down, given it was around 34C and the...

My partner and I stayed at the melapi lodge for 2 nights and loved it! We had an excellent guide who had great knowledge about all the wildlife and the local area. The accommodation is clean and the staff are always helpful. We did morning boat trips and afternoon ones and always saw many different types of wildlife. Our boat...

The rooms are simple but better than I expected considering where they are. I slept great when there too. We took multiple river trips daily with our guide Jeffrey. He was an incredible spotter. I normally hold my own but he was spotting everything. very impressive. How he saw a mangrove cat snake curled up and hidden a tree, I...

The Lodge is gorgeous, quiet, and welcoming up river and on the opposite side of the river from Sukau. If you are concerned about the travel warnings for Sabah, I urge you to reconsider any plans on canceling a trip to Kinabatangan river. The communities are 100's of miles inland from where there was trouble with the Philippines early in...

This is the sort of establishment that I really love to stay at, a bit rustic & basic but everything one needs in this wasteful world. Just a great feel about the place, comfy beds, shower and toilet worked, aircon fan etc....but most of all a verandah to sit out and enjoy the peace, the sound of the little creatures,...

Overall this has been my 2nd stay here at Malapi in just under 2 years as I have been coming to Kinabatangan for my wildlife photography. The manager of the place is an extremely lovely person taking care of your every need here while I find the surroundings just perfect. I could not ask for any better as this is...

Stayed two nights here. This lodge is located just down river from Sukau Rainforest Lodge, and across the river from several others. It was quite nice in comparison to other rainforest lodges we've stayed in. The room was large, with a nice balcony and the air condition was very, very, much appreciated. There really are only two tributaries the lodges...

We were warmly welcomed by friendly staff with a welcome drink, every one is...

My wife and I stayed here the first days of May for 3 nights. Having booked our Sabah birding trip with Borneo Eco Tours, we initially would have stayed at Sukau Rainforest Lodge that is owned by this tour operator (which in itself is highly recommended). But since renovation works weren’t finished by the time we would arrive, we requested...

Hello We just arrived back home to Singapore from a North Borneo Trip. We took the 3D4N Tour from Sandakan > Sepilok Orang Utan Sanctuary > 2N@ Melapi Lodge, Sukau > Gomantong Caves. I really can say that we had a wonderful journey. We (3 guys) had our own guide who picked us up from Sendakan Airport. Glen spoke a...

“I recommend that you are go in the dry season. You will still see a lot in the rainy season but not quite as much and your pictures will turn out much better.”
