Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.

Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Vietimme tyttöystäväni kanssa vuorokauden Pikku-Japanissa! Mahtava paikka. Ruoka oli mahtavaa, palvelu erinomaista. Hinokipuu-amme jäi mieleen hienona kokemuksena. Toki matkakuume tästä vain kasvoi 😃

Viihtyisä japanilaistyylinen majatalo Pukkilassa. Kivasti mietitty sisustus pieniä yksityiskohtia myöten. Varasimme vuorokauden paketin, johon kuului tervetuliaispaistos, illallinen, kylpy, yöpyminen, aamiainen, tyyliin sopivat asut ja monenlaista ajanvietemahdollisuutta. Kuuntelimme japanilaista musiikkia, katsoimme elokuvia, pelasimme lautapeliä, selailimme kirjoja, nautimme herkullisista ruuista, joimme runsaasti teetä ja nukuimme makoisat unet kauniissa lakanoissa.

Kylpyhuoneesta löytyy hinoki -puusta tehty amme, jossa kylpeminen on elämys. Vesi on tosin melko kuumaa, itse jouduimme lisäämään jonkin verran kylmää vettä ennen kuin uskaltauduimme mennä ammeeseen. Kylpyhuoneessa oli myös pyykkikone. WC on erillisessä huoneessa. Upea kokemus kaiken kaikkiaan, voimme suositella lämpimästi jokaiselle! Ehkä palaamme vielä jonakin päivänä.

Ensimmäinen kerta tässä paikassa. Yado Oikawa sijaitsee idyllisellä paikalla joen varrella. Yhden yön vierailu on mukava hyppy pois arjesta. Voi suositella mukavaksi vaihtoehdoksi arjesta irtautumiseen. Ainoa miinus on, ettei Pukkilaan pääse viikonloppuisin julkisilla.

We arrived at 1pm for our 24hr Japanese experience. I have to confess that when booking the stay I was a bit concerned if we would have enough to do as it's winter and it comes dark quickly and you really can't stay outside. Well, no need to worry! I think the concept is brilliant since all the meals are pre-prepared but you get to cook everything yourself. That will keep you active. So our 24hrs included a lot of amazing meals and in-between some serious origami battles. We started with afternoon tea and moshis. Rice cooker was put on 45min before dinner. While it was cooking, we ate starters and then it was time to cook sukiyaki. Some rest after delicious dinner and then hanuki bath. The scent from the wooden bath was amazing, I just loved the whole experience. In the morning it was time to cook coffee and eat a bit western but very delicious breakfast before leaving around 11am. This place has to be absolutely beautiful in spring/summertime when you can stay in the small garden and look at the river view. I also liked this small and sleepy village of Pukkila and we visited a big antique furniture store nearby that can be recommended warmly. Yado Oikawa gets 5 stars from me and it's definately worth every penny. Visiting this place is like a mini-trip to Japan (or even more beautiful as in reality Japan is quite filled with concrete and plastic). I hope we would have more specialty lodging like this in Finland. p.s no wlan. the purpose is to relax away from all that.

A very peaceful and cozy guesthouse with all the basic japanese things to make it a great place to any couples or friends that love a bit of getaway. The place is filled with all kinds of things from the japanese culture, like origamis, clothing and the whole interior. We went there as a group of four, and enjoyed a peaceful day and a night. We had a small instruction and then we were left together to spend the evening with great japanese tastes and a lovely traditional hinoki bath. Okonomiyaki, the Sukiyaki dinner and a perfect breakfast with fruits was really an experience. You need to be a bit self-imposed here because you have to cook your sukiyaki dinner from the prepared ingredients, but it is a really pleasant duty and experience to have. Highly recommended for all quiet lovers and friends getting together for a different, peaceful homestay.

Everything was so lovely, from food to location (the river view!) and final touches. It was amazing to wake up (after very good sleep at the futon in a calm room), to open the curtains and to see the river bathing in morning sun (the living room faces east). Super relaxing and a great way to focus well. We listened to Japanese instrumental music all the time, and I read about Japanese aesthetics while my husband created origami, both dressed in the cosy yukatas. Now I feel even more eager to travel to Japan, but at the same time this was a very ecological way to experience Japan over a weekend. The owner answered all our practical and theoretical (Japan-related) questions and went out of her way to do everything in the way that we liked the most. Highly recommended!

Lovely Japan feel in Pukkila, small village in the countryside not far from Helsinki. Greeting meal prepared by the sweet hostess was excellent, sukiyaki dinner as well. Breakfast more of a Finnish taste. Overall, a perfect escape by the river Porvoonjoki hidden behind a garden in an unsuspectful apartment. Ihana, lempeä pala Japania keskellä Pukkilaa ja Suomen maaseutua. Kannattaa kokea koko elämys eli ruokineen mauilla ja tuoksuilla höystetty pikku loma. Lämpimän kylvyn kautta perinteiseen japanilaiseen petiin nukkumaan, jollei tahdo origami-taitojaan hioa.

A must visit for all fans of Japan and Japanese culture. Yado Oikawa is more like a homestay than a hotel. Place is run by Riitta who is a charming personality and a dictionary of Japanese culture. After living decades in Japan she has managed to create a piece of Japan into this old dairy building. Excellent futon to sleep well, tatami to enjoy dinner and on top of of all a genuine hinoki bathtub! After you have enjoyed a perfect sukiyaki the tranquility and silence embraces you to sleep. The next morning you wake up like a new person - one of the most relaxing experiences we have ever enjoyed. If you want to get away from it all just for one day this is the place to come. And only one hours drive from Helsinki.
