Came here for afternoon tea. When I booked I was informed there was a wedding that day and we would be in another room. So you automatically believe you will be on a room within the Hall. We ended up in the restaurant of the next-door smokehouse. We were shown a table upstairs, which was a high table with high... More

The external facade isn't representative of what's inside. All but the entrance hall could have been anywhere modern. We attended a wedding which went without hitch but no one was in charge. The registrar ran the proceedings and the photographer ran the logistics. The staff were polite and cheerful but very casual. No one seemed in charge. The septic tank/sewage... More

Lovely old building with lots of character. Staff were friendly and helpful and there was a lovely lounge. Breakfasts were good. On the downside the bedroom was fairly small and the furniture consisted of 5 wardrobes and chest of drawers but no chairs! The bathroom was fine with a good size shower but no shelf for putting shower gel etc... More

This was a 4th visit and a second for Sunday lunch. Greeting and venue were as good as always. For a hotel it was disappointing that there were no diet/sugar free soft drinks available for a diabetic member of our party. Likewise the understanding of the gluten free options could have been better. When it came the food was good... More

Nice setting on a hill above the Staffordshire Canal. We dined in the restaurant which unfortunately felt cold is it was a chilly evening and there was no heating on. The rooms were large a comfortable. Disappointed with the choice on the menu, however. the food was good and in my opinion not high end expensive for the quality. Good... More

This is the second time I've stayed at this beautiful place and it didn't disappoint! The staff are polite and welcoming, the rooms comfortable and well appointed, and breakfast perfectly cooked. I thoroughly enjoyed my brief stay and unhesitatingly recommend this hotel!
