We were delighted with our 3 nights stay in The Crown. The bedroom, Dedham, spacious with plenty of storage was ideal. The bathroom is equally generous with both shower and bath. All in immaculate condition. Nothing has been done on the cheap. We ate dinner in the restaurant every evening as the food was excellent and there was plenty of choice. The service was friendly and efficient despite being busy. The breakfast also offers plenty of choice. The village is pretty and quiet. Overall, an establishment well situated, well equipped and well run.
Visited twice while you could still only eat outside . Both times offered blankets and were seated near heaters Lots of choice on the menu first time had a sharing platter for starters it was huge ! Food is presented well very tasty and just a lovely experience
A return visit and a vastly improved experience from last year. Bedrooms have been refurbished and are very comfortable with great quality beds and furnishing. We stayed in May and it was the first week when inside eating was allowed again but used both the beautiful outside court yard ( with great heaters and blankets ) and the cosy inside. It was so lovely to sit in the comfy chairs by the bar for a pre dinner drink ( so much nicer than going straight to your table ) and we actually felt like things were really getting back to pre covid. Most tables were occupied and the atmosphere was buzzy and fun. Dinner was relaxed and very tasty ( steak meal and vegetarian option ) and they actually had all the wines we asked for this time so the cellar seems to have been topped up ! …
The Tipi was being used for a Wedding & after deliberating on indoors versus outdoors, we opted for the courtyard because it looked so inviting (despite chilly weather). Covered area with large patio heaters, comfy chairs, candles, and blankets, a lovely ambience. Great friendly & efficient service and good food. Time to relax, yet plenty of staff to assist. The belly pork in soy was delicious! This place has been noticeably uplifted since the last time we visited.
One of the best independent pub/ restaurants in the area, and well worth a drive if your not! Lovely position in a beautiful village that offers lots of lovely walks after a fabulous lunch. Unlike a lot of pubs in the village/ area, they have a large car park. Currently have a beautiful marquee set up with blankets, rugs and soft furnishings, if you still prefer to eat outside. The food is always second to none and is a great place for “foodies”. The service can be slow and sporadic, but as long as you are not in a rush, it’s worth the wait and you just have to wave waiters down when you want something and they are very efficient and polite once you have their attention. They offer beautiful accommodation too if you are looking to stay in the area.
