We booked this site on the recommendation of a friend who had stayed here earlier in the year and enjoyed the peaceful (apart from the regular trains running behind the site) location and nice views. We arrived on a Wednesday and rang the phone number and after a while we were met by the owner who told us to pitch anywhere. We chose a pitch and were then told not to go there as they wanted to cut the grass and immediately we were asked for money. She then left without telling us anything, i.e recycling, water, waste water, dog control, departure times etc. So much for the warm welcome the site has won awards for (apparently others on site had a similar welcome). The main pitches are in a large field, with smaller areas behind it, all grass with a rally field next to it (there was a rally on but they were very quiet). There were a couple of hardstanding pitches but they seemed to be in long term use. There is no play area for children apart from a large sandpit area full of plastic ride on toys so we were surprised it won best family friendly CS site as well. The toilet block is new and was kept clean and tidy. On the Friday the site changed and large groups started to arrive. One group took up the entire central area of the campsite with another large group at the bottom and a group of about 10 young people near us. Young children were running around screaming, setting up cricket stumps and football goals on the area when you drive around the main field. One very young child was running around on his own, worrying because the campsite has no gates to the road and, as mentioned, is next to a busy railway line. No sooner had the young group near us set up than they started music playing which over the hours got louder as did they. The noise is meant to stop at 11pm but young children were still running around way past this, banging on tents belonging to other campers and the music continued to well past midnight at which point the talking/shouting continued. The children were up again around 6am screaming as they chased each other around the site. The music from the young group started up at 9am again, this time rap music with offensive lyrics (which considering the number of young children around was unacceptable) and they started smoking cannabis. At this point we left! This is not a CS site using the definition by the club of 5 caravans or motorhomes and up to 10 tents as it has over 30 pitches but far exceed the capacity (the small group of young people near us had 5 tents between them), there is no distancing maintained between camping units and although it says members only, non-members are allowed on without joining the club (the owner was overheard telling the young group that they should be members but not a problem and they would know for next time). It would be useful to know it took large groups of people which in itself is not a problem if they respect the rules. We joined the club to avoid the large commercial sites with large groups as we prefer a quieter break but accept that everyone has different requirements from their camping experience. We wish we had read the reviews as it seems others have had a similar experience although the reviews written out of season are just as valid. We will never return but out of season it is probably quite nice.

Always a warm welcome at Riverside. Been here many times and the owners are friendly and very helpful. This year (2023) saw the opening of new showers and toilets, always kept clean and well provisioned - excellent! As all campsites there are rules. One is quiet after 11pm as this is a family site - fine by me and most campers.

This is one of my overall favourite campsites. It’s amazing value for money. The amenities are not the plushest but do the job, are clean and well managed. It’s in a beautiful setting, and location is handy for the pub and train station to Skipton, Leeds, keighley for the steam train to Haworth. It has a laid back feel, you are not charged extra for everything as some campsites do such as gazebos and dogs. There are rules about noise after 10pm but this is a family friendly site and this is fair enough and respectful to others around you.

This is one of my favourite campsites. Once you have paid for your pitch you can set up how you want, no stupid extra charges for a windbreak ect. Alison is lovely! She is firm though, this is a large campsite and people would be partying all night if it wasn't kept under control, I personally think she does a great job. The facilities are basic but everything you need is there and its great value for money. The field is good to pitch a tent, not full of rocks ect. The pubs in the village serve good beer and one does food (check the serving times, they are a bit random) Campsite is 2 mins from the train station, fantastic as we can pitch up here and spend the day in Skipton. Look up Confest! Its a little festival the campsite puts on in the summer, great value with good local bands.

Well where shall I start if I could give minus stars I would , when we turned up there was all smiles taking the money and soon after it turned to shambles , there was 10 of us and a baby , we were having a laugh(at a reasonable level) sat round our tents in a secluded area it got to bang on 11oclock and we were told to turn the music off which we could barley hear ourself. We were then woken up at half 5 by children climbing over our guy ropes and ringing their bell saying wakey wakey , we then found a field with plenty of room to play rounders to then be told we can’t use that field, then it got later on at night and we were sat in our tent playing cards at 11:07 no music playing she then unzipped the tent and came in and told us to be quiet she said we are not partying until early hours in the morning and to turn the music off (there was no music playing ) so my partner said well I don’t appreciate you coming into our tent and that kids don’t get told off for playing at 5 in the morning so she said are we doing tit for tat ? To he then replied no but if we have a curfew then they should , which it totally understandable, she then went on to going round the whole campsite saying she told us to then the music off because it was 2 in the morning , I don’t appreciate being bad mouthed around the campsite when we didn’t do anything wrong , we all went to bed at 12 so that doesn’t make much sense. She then proceeded to come up to us in the morning and said so after that last I don’t think you will be returning so we said no probably not and then she shouted NO you will not be returning, she also digs through peoples bin bags to see if she can keep anything for herself. We will NEVER return here terrible attitude worst manners DO NOT GO HERE. It shows how awful it is here when another family packed up their tent a day early in the pouring rain all because the owner kept telling them they couldn’t play football and the kids weren’t allowed to go on their bikes, we totally understand it’s not a party place but we don’t appreciate the way we were spoken to there is a way to go about speaking to people. RUDE WOMAN

This site is affiliated to the Camping & Caravan Club and as such, as members, we expect a certain standard, albeit a slightly lesser standard is acceptable. This site has the potential to be very nice BUT Alison who runs the site, I can only assume, cares nothing other than maximising her pitch takings. The C&C website didn't mention that this site accepts large Rally groups. When we arrived we were told but assured that the Rally clientele would be in a separate field and would not encroach on us. The said Really group turned up (Mustang Caravan Owners Club). The MCOC were impeccably behaved, in fact you wouldn't if known they were there (big shout out to them) The problem was a HUGE group of at least 15 tents, a music box to make Big Ben sound quiet and about 100 people. The kids were left to do as they please (I'll let you imagine the carnage). Our pitch, when we arrived, we were the only one within quite some distance, but by the time the unofficial Rally (humongous family group) had arrived, we were completely encircled and we're in the epicentre of Thier party. So much so we had to completely pack up and move as far away from them as we could (which wasn't far enough). I'm writing this review while listening to the ongoing party which started this morning at 11.30am. We've spoke to many other C&C members here and they all say the same as me. Would I revisit? No No No

I will be reviewing Riverside campsite (Cononley) which I thought was a really good activity-packed place. Riverside campsite is a suitable place too stay for a short break or week’s holiday. Next too the site is a cool, clear lake that you can swim in and go canoeing through. Pure Bliss. It’s only a short fifth teen too twenty minute walk into the, the walk involves going through large stretches of grass filled with sheep and the cattle. Whilst on the lake, you can watch the bright, golden sun shine go down, as it makes the emerald lake glisten.Late into the dark you can watch the moon rise, and shooting stars go by. Beautiful. When settling down for the night, you can hear the camper’s music stop as the clock goes on too eleven. You can toast marshmallows on an open fire and listen too the relaxing crackle of the flames. In the town there are unique intriguing little shops that you can wander in. You can feel the long soft grass under your feet one the site. For meals you can go up too the pizza van and have a lovely meal. The campsite is made up of different fields that are reasonably flat for people in tents. I mostly enjoyed going swimming in the lake, as we went on a warm week in August. If you are thinking of going away for a short break, I would recommend this campsite. You and your family can spend the day splashing in the large luxurious lake. You can also hire a boat ride in there! You and your friends can go for lunch in the town and have a look through some interesting shops. There is something for everybody at the campsite. I would recommend it too a friend and I’d rate it five stars due too clean facilities and flat fields. By Seren. (Age Ten)
