We spent 3 days in the guest house. It was an amazing holiday. The guest house is clean and comfortable. The food prepared by the owners (mum and 2 sons) was delicious (BBQ and Shabu Shabu at dinner time). The beach is clean and the sea is cosa with a lot of coral and colored fish. There are also a...

We stayed in Sango Beach for 5 nights in July/August 2016. It is the perfect place to relax at the beach. The Minshuku is run by Satch and her son Junta, and they made everything for us to enjoy perfect beach holidays. The sea is full of beautiful corals and we could use all equipment for exploring the corals for...

I stayed here in January, 2016. My friends and I were the only guests because it was the off-season. Our hard-working hostess, Sachiyo Ezaki (please forgive me if I have her name in the wrong order) was extremely generous, especially with her delicious meals - even accommodating my vegetarian needs with an understanding I found pretty rare in the regions...

We stayed at Sango Beach for 3 days in January (=winter), so we had Sango Beach guest house and beautiful Kuninao beach (one of the most beautiful beaches on the island, in our opinion) all to ourselves. The guest house is operated by Sachiyo (mom) and Junta (son). Both speak English and are the nicest people. They went out of...

Sango Beach is a cozy Japanese minshuku at a sandy beach of the same name. We were looking for a contrast to Japan's city life, and Sango Beach is maybe as much contrast as you can get. The beautiful and remote beach is an approx. 1.5h drive from Amami airport, where a son of the minshuku's family picked us up....

When we arrived at this Minshuku behind Sango beach we wondered what we had done. The place seemed dead and in need of some painting. On the inside the rooms were good. What stood out for us though was that the owner made us feel so welcome and involved us in the village life. Despite our lack of Japanese we...
