Stayed one night at Hotel Resorts Beppuwan, situated on a raise elevation with a great open view of Beppu Bay. The rooms were clean and spacious with beds. The onsen there has 2 hot pools and 1 cold pool. Service and food were good.
We chose this hotel as a local ( to us) travel company was using it as a base and thought it would be up to standard. Most disappointed with almost everything. The swimming pool was closed, despite it being 28 deg. Reception staff spoke very little English. Rooms very tired, not clean and need of immediate refurbishment. Breakfast adequate. Shuttle bus was good as hotel was a long way out of town. The best thing about this hotel was the view.
The hotel staff were amazingly helpful & courteous BUT the rooms, whilst much bigger than most in Japan, were so soiled & dilapidated. Very sad to find this as cleanliness is paramount in Japan - obviously not all their guests appreciate this culture. The rooms need a complete revamp but rest of hotel & restaurants were fantastic.
Hotel in need of a thorough refurbishment and twenty minutes drive out of the town of Beppu. Stayed for the quarter finals of the Rugby World Cup, three nights and paid $1500. Was not worth it. Room was heavily stained and doubt many people would actually choose to stay here again. Then again, if Hello Kitty is your thing....
The hotel clearly wants bad reviews removed, my first review on Google was removed. The staff does not respect the "DO NOT DISTURB" sign. They woke me up after I went to sleep early. When the staff member noticed me waking up, he/she ran out. Within a few minutes the phone kept ringing. I needed to pull the plug of the phone. Breakfast was bad, the cooked fish was still swimming, in fat. Fins were still on. I went to seven eleven to get something to get the bad taste of the fish out of my mouth. Tho get there I needed to walk on the road to get there. No footpad or stairs.
We arrive at night and the hotel is a bit difficult to locate. The size of the rooms are big but the lightening is a bit dim. However, the breakfast buffet is nice! The room is with sea view which is nice. However, there are no shops or restaurants nearby although there is a convenience stop across the street.
the hotel is next to the sea. on the left is moutain. this hotel base on beppu , oita japna where famous with hot spring. it is called " hot spring city". the staffs is friendly and hotel service is ven more amazing
I knew from previous reviews that this was a huge hotel but booked it anyway because it was the Chinese New Year and all our other preferences were unavailable. This is a massive property whose big advantage is the breathtaking views of the sea you get from the rooms and the public areas. That’s about it. We got the only available room; the Hello Kitty room which was basically just an average room with a huge Hello Kitty doll, wallpaper, bed covers and Hello Kitty kiddie chairs. The room was old and dated; certainly not worth the price we paid. Generally, the entire hotel looks old. Expectedly it was packed with Chinese groups celebrating the New Year. Dinner at the Japanese restaurant was ok; certainly not exceptional. The Onsen was all right. There’s a shuttle from and to the station twice a day. Beware that there is nothing near the hotel. The staff was friendly.…
The location of the hotel is both an advantage and a disadvantage. Due to its location, it offers a great view of the Beppu bay from your room. But it is a bit away from Beppu city. If you don't have a car, and here for a few days, it may be problematic. Rooms are comparatively spacious. Very popular with group tourists.
Super disappointed about this place. Came here for my daughters birthday weekend because of the Hello Kitty rooms. The carpet in the corridor leading to rooms is disgusting and dirty. Because it's pink, it's very obviously dirty. The Hello Kitty room that we had was gross. Literally every other room has carpet, except ours. Maybe it's because it's assumed that kids are gross, but I doubt it. Kids stay in the other rooms in the hotel which are carpeted. We stayed in the hotel for dinner the first night to eat at the Chinese restaurant and it was expensive and mediocre. Breakfast buffet was okay. Had we not been here for my kids birthday we definitely would've left and stayed at another hotel.
