Kurokawa-onsen area can be reached by a bus from the Fukuoka International airport in under 3 hours. I took the 10.32am bus and arrived before 1pm. Very convenient. Costs 3,090 yen. You can book the tickets online or at the counter at the arrival hall. From where the bus drops you, Yamamizuki can pick you up to the Ryokan for...

Yamamizuki is five minutes drive from the busy town centre. There are free shuttle bus every half an hour between the two places. Of the five Onsen resorts we have visited, it has the most beautiful outdoor Onsen. The man's outdoor bath is located right next to the intersection of two running rivers. It is surrounded by woods and cascades...

Totally enjoyed our stay at this ryokan. The service from check-in to check-out was great. When we first arrived, the staff that showed us to our room served us tea and snacks in our room, which was a nice touch. The place is very well maintained and our room overlooked a stream which was so tranquil and beautiful. There was...

After 2 hours bus ride from airport, we were greeted by the driver of the Ryokan. Upon hearing our plans to proceed to another Ryokan, he immediately arranged for our luggages to be transported and transportation for us. Reaching our hotel, the hosts are very friendly and attempt to use English. We immediately proceed to the outdoor onsen as it's...

We enjoyed our stay at Yamamizuki this past December. This property is located a bit out of the town but we loved the quiet and secluded location. The building is a charming Japanese house with nice scenery all around. The hot springs are excellent, especially the outdoor one. The staff were very attentive and asked about our arrival and departure...

Yamamizuki is the most popular and the most beautiful outdoor Onsen in Kurokawa. It is quite far from town center, but There is a free shuttle bus just across the street from tourist information center. Outdoor Onsen is gorgeous. The hot-spring is right by the river. Indoor Onsen is even more amazing (to our surprise). It is something you must...

What an amazing place. Dinner and breakfast go down as two of the best meals we have ever eaten, so authentic and amazing local flavors. A real experience. The outdoor onsen were also the nicest I have seen in 3 Japan trips. Gorgeous setting next to river / waterfalls and nothing to make you doubt the cleanliness of the water....

This was my second time at Yamamizuki. Had a wonderful time on the first visit. Second visit was spoilt by a very rude service staff; an old lady with a name like Zhangzhi? We were treated very curtly on arrival as if we were morons or something. For someone who has visited many ryokans over the years and understand ryokan...

I have been to three ryokans with both private and public onsens during my Kyushu trip and I have to admit that Yamamizuki is by far the best of the best of all I have ever been to. Starting with a pickup van from Kurokawa Onsen bus stop, the hotel staff was very nice and helpful. He gave us a...

About 15 min drive from the Kurokawa town center. This Ryokan is up in the hills and nested in nature. They are known for their spectacular huge outdoor onsen by the stream. It was a dream came through to bath in total nature. No artificial screen was needed to protect our privacy as it faces a remote hilly wood. The...
