Easy to book, helpful staff. Perhaps avoid the single room due to very small bathroom; all other rooms are a good size, well presented and nice and clean. Don't miss out on the great breakfast in the morning.

A family lunch but we were the only ones present except for noisy and uncontrolled children. Interesting menu, the partridge pie was excellent.Shrimp with celeriac very heavy on celeriac, so shrimp flavour weak. The microwaved dessert satisfactory. Wine list appropriate, but not inexpensive. Service good, but as sole diners this is not difficult. Probably better in evening,

First impression are good. Attentive staff and a good pint of beer. The menu looked interesting. I was the only one to try the starter of brown shrimps and celeriac. This consisted of about 6 brown shrimps on a bed of shredded celeriac. Just tasted of vinegar. The additional ingredient being a long strand of ginger hair. Very disappointing even...

We stayed here two nights in September for a friend's wedding nearby. The pub was quiet on arrival (a Thursday night) but they kept it open for us. Reasonable prices for the drinks we had. Our room was nice and clean and bed was comfy. Stairs are quite steep going up - not a problem for us but older guests...

Four in our party, we visited on Wednesday evening for dinner and we had a lovely surprise. Great food, beautifully cooked and presented in a simple and honest way. We wanted to have a little try of everything because the menu was so interesting and varied. We shared Haddock scotch eggs and welsh rarebit to start - gorgeous. Selection of...

We stayed one night as it was a convenient spot on our way back to London. The room was clean and comfortable, although very small. The owner was very pleasant. Dinner was disappointing, there was nothing much on the menu that appealed and it was rather expensive for very small main course servings. The soup and meringue desert were, however,...

Great pub, great atmosphere. Staff even arrived early to serve breakfast on the Sunday. Stay spoilt by music playing until 0200am directly beneath the room. I accept that if you are staying at a pub inn then there could well be some noise, but not after hours from the staff getting drunk and playing music until two. The guest rooms...
