We thoroughly enjoyed our 12 night stay at The Ridge which is essentially a hotel ( there are some apartments l understand ) with hotel type rooms ie no cooking facilities. This was our first time to ski Hakuba and The Ridge exceeded our expectations for the following reasons; 1. We were in room 205 - a twin share room....

We have just left the Ridge Hotel and apts after a wonderful holiday thanks to Michelle, Yori, Roki Leith and the rest of the team!!! We booked a 3 bedroom apt for our family (children aged 11,11 and 9). The beautiful apt came with an amazing view where we could actually see skiers coming down the mountain!!! The kids loved...

We stayed in the 4 bed apartment - great for 2 families and very comfy beds. Well equipped with kitchen and 2 bathrooms and 2 separate toilets. Close to slopes but not close enough with small kids so we got the evergreen bus from rhythm every day to ski school and back. You can leave your ski gear at rhythm...

After doing Niseko for the last 5 years decided to try somewhere different and went to Hakuba for 10 days in January 2016. Unfortunately, it was the worst snow they'd had in 30 years, so our impressions of Hakuba vs Niseko as a ski destination are not positive. However, as far as the accommodation was concerned, The Ridge was excellent....

The Ridge is quite simply one of the best hotels my wife and I have ever stayed in. Apparently it was built before the 1998 Nagano Olympics for members of the Japanese imperial family and the high quality of everything in the place reflects this origin, from the decor to the furniture to the staff. Our large corner room had...

We stayed at the Ridge for 8 nights in January with a group of four families with adolescent kids. There was 18 of us in total. We had the Deluxe 4 bdrm apartment and the Standard 4 bdrm apartment. The set up was great for us with the apartments directly one floor above and connected by the stairs. The staff...

Location is superb, accommodation is excellent and the staff are incredible. Friendly, helpful, professional and made us feel completely at home. Nothing was too much trouble. Michelle, who managers the place, was fantastic. From our initial inquiry to our final departure, the entire team at The Ridge were wonderful. We will definitely be returning.

If you judged 'The Ridge' on great location, good well designed accommodation, obliging staff you would rate it as a five out of five, but you can find many other establishments that meet this criteria. If you rated 'The Ridge' as premium accommodation as indicated by the price and as value for money you would rate it as a two out...
