We received a warm welcome. The staff were all pleasant and helpful, ready to go out of their way to assist. Facilities in the rooms were above expectations, especially the complimentary fruit. Restaurant food, again, surpassed expectations - adventurous and yet homely, in equal mix. Overall, incredible value for money. The icing on the cake, was the dark sky observatory....

Just returned from two nights at the Battlesteads. We had an excellent deal, 2 nights b & b with 8 course taster menu for two people @ £179 total price. The room we got was a junior double which was really clean, nicely decorated, with some nice touches. The staff were all friendly and helpful, there were a number of...

The hotel is well positioned for exploration of Hadrian's Wall. We stayed in one of the rooms with a whirlpool bath which was superb. We tried the 8 course tasting menu which was very good and the food in the restaurant generally did not disappoint.

We booked a deal that included the 8 course tasting menu, bed and breakfast. We really enjoyed the tasting menu and you can see the chef makes full use of the garden produce that they grow. We were allocated room 7 which is actually pretty nice and was clean. However, it is situated next to the stairs and you can...

The Battlesteads Hotel really does let you get away from it all as there is no mobile phone signal available - hurrah! A charming building with stunning gardens and clean, comfortable en-suite bedrooms. Superb food - we enjoyed the tasting menu on our first night and were very impressed. The following evening we decided to eat in again and thoroughly...

Having read reviews we booked here, we shouldn't have bothered. Check in was unwelcoming, they really couldn't be bothered with the effort of it. Our room was tiny but manageable, the bathroom was nothing other than revolting, with just a disabled shower, the smell of which overwhelmed the whole room. I requested to be moved and was offered another pokey...

Had a two night break on a Travel Zoo voucher. Took our dog so my expectations weren't that high as we usually get the worst rooms in any hotel. The bedroom itself was adequate but the bathroom was awful. There was a terrible musty smell and black mould on the tiles. Looked about 20 years out of date and desperately...

We stayed for three nights in the "lodge" rooms behind the main building. On the first evening we had the eight course taster meal, which was very good indeed. My wife chose the addition of seven glasses of Wines at a charge of £25. Alex was our host waiter for the evening and was extremely knowledgeable on the food and...

Stayed here for one night having read many good reviews....sadly not for us. Had a warm welcome and shown to a 'disabled' access room. The room smelt stale and damp resulting in the guy who had shown us to the room opening the window straight away. We hoped this would help but we couldn't leave it open due to being...
