Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Absolutely stunning b&b located on the North Atlantic Way. We had gorgeous views of the sea from our bedroom. The hosts were so welcoming in every way. Breakfast is absolutely incredible with a huge selection of food, all freshly prepared. 10/10 would stay again.

I stayed here with my partner and 7 year old son. Perfect position to take wee day trips into murder hole beach and catch breathtaking sunsets at Rosguil viewpoint. Beautifully friendly staff with fantastic breakfasts. Couldn't ask for a better place to put the head down after taking in the beauty of Donegal. Check out the view from up the road...

Michael and Heather were the perfect hosts.. hearty breakfasts and spotlessly clean. Fishermans village has the most BEAUTIFUL view of the coast, with rolling hills behind. As a couple we relaxed and thoroughly enjoyed our retreat. We'll definitely be back. In fact thinking of booking again for September!!! Xoxo

The location, just up the coast from Downings, couldn't be better. There are spectacular sea views in all directions, and it is a short walk to a small beach or to a viewpoint a bit higher up.
We had a warm welcome from Heather and were put in one of the cottages. Our room was comfortable and spacious enough for a couple of nights' stay. The main house seating area is always available to guests who want to relax indoors but we were out and about during the day making the most of the fine weather!
A full and tasty breakfast with very friendly service.
All in all somewhere we can definitely recommend.

Heather was so kind and warm and welcoming. The room was so spacious and clean. The breakfast was to die for! Nothing was too much trouble and very morning we were greeted warmly and asked what we were up to. Everyone was happy to give pointers on where to go and what to do. My 5 year old daughter loved it here and we will most definitely be returning

The really sad part about writing this review is that the place has enormous potential. First of all, it is in a prime area for fishing and sight-seeing along the northern coasts of Ireland. And having private cottages for the guests is a great idea. But here is where the potential becomes stalled in the reality.

When we arrived, we were greeted with no smile, no spark, just an admonishing that "you would think people would call if they were checking in after 7pm"- which we had, but were unable to get through, so we sent an email, which apparently was unnoticed, or at the very least unacknowledged. The host, Heather, was so curt and abrupt in showing us to our rooms that we weren't entirely certain we were even wanted there.

The rooms are sparsely decorated, but are equipped enough, so no complaints there. And after dinner, we met Michael, who runs the charter fishing service out of the house, and he was a joy- very kind, friendly, and positive.

The next morning, we woke to freezing cold water, and no hope of any hot water. When we ran into other guests in the hallway, they mentioned a lack of hot water as well, and we discovered that out of the 15 or so guests that night, only 1 had been able to take even a warm shower. When we asked about it, Heather informed us that "that's what happens when you all try to shower at once. I can't do anything about it."

Breakfast was served with no smile, no enthusiasm. By this point, we had been in Ireland enough to know that wasn't the typical course of action. Dishes were slammed in the kitchen, and there was a general pervading sense of unwelcome, We decided to check out a day early and go else where, preferring to test our luck in an unbooked location rather than spend one more night in the place.

To give the place it's due, it has potential, as I said, and the other half of the team, Michael is so kind that you can imagine a fishing trip with him would be fun and exciting. But it's just not worth it to endure the overwhelming lack of hospitality and cold environment when there are some awesome b and b finds so close.

We stayed here 10th & 11th June 2011 and loved it.
The accommodation is a set of converted fishermens cottages and we were in one completely separate from the main house ( where breakfast is served; a small bar for the evenings; large TV; loads of interesting maps/fishing memorabilia; and internet access ).
The rooms are basic, but very clean & tidy. Breakfast was really good.
Heather ( and her family/friends ) was very friendly and helpful. Charter fishing trips on her husband's boat seem to be an additional part of the business and evening meals are an extra for this aspect. Some of the previous reviews of this place were quite unkind and we couldn't understand them because we loved it.
The scenery around the area is superb. We brought our bicycles with us and this was an excelent way to see the Rosguill Peninsula.
The nearest pub for food & drink was 'The Singing Pub', 3 miles away. This may prove a problem for some who want something right on the doorstep, however, we drove there on the first evening and walked back ( 50 minutes ). The second night, we cycled there and back. No problem!
The staff ( particularly Tony ) and locals at the pub were so friendly and welcoming, well worth a visit.
Overall, a lovely remote place, nice people and great scenery!

Stayed at the Fishermans Village Lodge for four nights with a party of five friends. The attraction is that the accomodation has a parallel sea angling business and we stayed to fish the Atlantic with Michael who has the Rosguill Charter Boat. His wife Heather runs the B&B accomodation. The previous reviews are unfair and Heather is a great hostess, she provides quality accomodation and excellent meals on request. The accomodation is immaculate and great value for money. The location at the side of the wild Atlantic is fantastic and I cannot imagine a better vista. The local village has a few pubs and restaurants that serve bar food
I have stayed here on a number of occasions over the years and I cannot fault the place. I am more than fussy and would recommend people to try this great location

This is a lovely b & b situated along the atlantic drive, just outside downings. The accomadation is to a very high standard, the views are spectacular and it was overall great value for money. The staff are also extremely helpful and friendly. I can't recommend this place highly enough. Thanks again
