Group very happy with it, Rooms very spacious and very comfortable, food is excellent and the staff can't do enough for you. Ideally located on Downings beach and downings just a few minutes walk away and the golf courses on site make for some lovely walks also. Recommended 👍
Played golf last month at the Old Tom Morris and St. Patrick's. Think Rosapenna is the best place to play golf in Ireland. It's quiet, it is very beautiful and the courses are fabulous. Playable, yet challenging. Arrived at St. Patrick's early in the morning and got a really nice welcome from Danny [think the name is Danny]. He makes you feel very welcome. The beach next door is just 5k long and a joy to walk every day. Some great places to stay and eat. We stay at the Coastguard Cottages and they are fabulous. Our next visit will be our 4th and we can't wait to go back. The Olde Glen Bar in Glen is only 3k away and a great spot. Fisks in Downings serve great Fish. Downings is a beautiful place.
Rosapenna Hotel provides the perfect base for a superb golfing break on the West coast of Ireland. The staff are incredibly friendly and helpful, the food is delightful and tasty, the rooms are clean and comfortable and the views from the dining room are incredible. Highly recommended
Four of us on a golf junket to the northern reaches of Ireland stayed for three nights in May. Can't say enough good things about this place. Wonderful, spacious rooms, we had views of the Bay, great food service, lots of amenities and great wifi. The two person soaking tub was a welcome amenity after walking 36 holes each day. The golf courses were amazing. The Sandy Hills stands with the best of them worldwide, St Patricks is maturing and will soon be a destination course in it's own right. The Old Tom Morris should not be considered a lesser course and it is fantastic. True links style with some devilishly tough holes. Loved them all. We were worried about what we would find in such a remote location but we found a world class facility! Should my travels ever take me near here I am going to definitely stay there!!!!!…
The new St Patrick’s links is now a must visit course if playing golf in Ireland. Amazing design coupled with a dramatic landscape helps to deliver an unforgettable golfing experience. Old Tom Morris and Sandy hills are good but St Patrick’s is at a level where it deserves to be discussed alongside Portrush, RCD , Waterville etc. Hotel and staff were superb as always making it a trip I will never forget.
From the moment we arrive we were treated to 5star service. The staff were so friendly and helpful. After we had checked in Frank greeted us and made sure we had every thing we needed. We had dinner at the hotel on two nights and the food was excellent and the view from the dining room was spectacular. Breakfast in the morning was truly great and the variety was amazing. Would highly recommend the Rosapenna for anyone looking a relaxing break.
I’ve just returned after another stay at this wonderful golf resort in the most beautiful part of Ireland and I have to say I enjoy more every time. From changing golf bookings to adjusting times for dining, nothing is a problem and they make everything hassle free. The food in the restaurant both for breakfast and dinner is superb and the dinner menu on both nights was varied and the quality of our food on both nights and the level of service were impeccable. Thank you to all the team and a shout out for Gareth in the bar who served us on both nights and did it with great courtesy and professional service and also to Edith and Rebecca front of house for making our bookings hassle free and I look forward to returning again before too long and finally will echo the words of ryder cup captain paul mcginley “Rosapenna resort is a hidden Gem”…
Not my first time here so that speaks for itself. The exterior is not somewhere you'd stop for - truly awful in fact but interior is nice enough. Carpets and furniture very dated but that may be what they are going for? Hasn't changed in a good few years. Clean spacious rooms with great showers. Restaurant food is simply delicious for both breakfast and dinner with superb friendly waiting staff. All of the staff in this establishment are efficient, courteous and friendly at all times - not so for the management though. Stiff upper lip brigade who barely acknowledge their guests. Hasn't stopped me returning though as the location and area are quite wonderful.
Just back from an amazing trip to the Rosapenna Hotel in the beautiful Downings. Everything was perfect, from the friendly staff, delicious food to the unbelievable location. It was such a treat to be able to walk on the beach after breakfast- literally on our doorstep. We can’t wait to return.
3 of us have had rime to ruminate on our 4 days golf stay at Rosapenna. This is our 6th time to have stayed and played and this is testimony for the quality of the hotel and most importantly the quality of the 3 golf courses. Standards are important in all aspects of service and this is abundantly clear from the moment one enters the hotel. Quality of room is very good and the food is superb. A different culinary experience is there each evening with a truly wide selection of starters and mains. But the gokf for us is key. We have played Sandy Hills and Tom Morris many times and this year we had the pleasure of adding the newly opened St Patrick's to the experience. All 3 courses were presented in magnificent condition. We played from the blues and this added to the challenge. St Patrick's is a good golf course and will be a great golf course when there is a little more definition between fairway and greens. But each new hole presents a new challenge. The first entices a long draw to a gorgeous green. The last tempts the long hitter for a real go at the green from the drive. All just lovely. Risapenna is a fantastic experience. We can't wait to go back! Sipping a beer, having a sambo on the terrace of the clubhouse and looking at golfers negotiating the lovely 18th on Tom Morris is a lovely way to finish the day ! Fantastic resort.…
