I have eaten here several times before. Very nice traditional restaurant. I heard the owners had changed. On a Monday I tried to book for lunch in three weeks time via their website because theybare closed on Monday and Tuesday...the website promised an answer in 48 hours. No reply. I called on Wednesday (in good French)...apparently they had not received my email. I had to email again. Yes they had space but we had to take a menu. Details to be sent on receipt of my email. Sent the email. No reply. Called again. They were full. Err no they were not full. I must call again. They have not replied. I have given up. Clearly they are not interested in a group of 16 for lunch! I regularly book restaurants around here and am used to the slightly brusque manner that the staff have but both times I called they were rude. There are much nicer and friendlier places nearby for example at Col De la Moreno and Fontaine des Bergers....both are excellent and friendly. Also Gros Manaux at Puy de Dome. And Ours des Roches but pricier.

We have stayed many times at this lovely place. The surroundings are peaceful with some lovely walks. The rooms are large and very comfortable. It is good to be able to have high quality food based on regional cuisine - cooked beautifully. Mazayes provides a perfect base for exploring this lovely region of France.

Take great care trying to stay here. We exchanged faxes to establish what was available and confirmed by Fax. However when we arrived the Auberge they claimed never to have received our fax confirming the booking, although we held the telephone confirmation that the fax had been processed correctly. We had requested 2 rooms for 3 people for one night, and as they offerred us one room for all of us we were left with the impression that they had over booked. We did not stay
