We had a 3 night visit to take in the Rioja region and decided to call the hotel our home. We have been staying exclusively in airbnb's this week, but we thought the hotel would be an ideal base to explore the region... and it was. Moreover we were delighted with our stay. Everything was perfect and as described in... More

Hotel Villa de Ábalos is a nice quaint hotel right in the center of the small town of Ábalos. There is gated parking behind the building, with plenty of spaces. The rooms are spacious and come with heat/AC and windows to look out over the town. The breakfast in the morning is good, consisting of cured meats, fruits, pastries, fresh... More

We stayed here in mid-February this year, with sunny days, blue skies, and still snow on the mountains. Beautiful views locally. The room was plain but lovely, with quality cotton bed linen. Very pleasant en suite bathroom. Breakfast was a treat! Spanish omelette, delicious cheeses, membrillo (quince jelly - exquisite!), and fruit, amongst other things. Nothing was too much trouble... Old typically Spanish hotel in small village. Owners very friendly and speak English. We had room on first floor overlooking square. Lovely stone walls and shuttered Windows. Comfortable room with ensuite bathroom. Food was amazing. Three course menu or tapas menu. Dinner served on small terrace at the back of the hotel. Private parking at rear. Enjoyable stay.

Upon arrival very friendly welcome and lovely room with a view of the small square. Very rural and truly Spanish the hotel's wine bar is the focal point of the village where villagers come together to enjoy a glass of wine (from 80 cents per glass!!!). Dinner was excellent as was the breakfast. Would love to visit again.

My dad, brother and I came to Rioja for a cycling trip. We stayed here for 3 nights. From the minute you walk in the door Sonya and Cynthia will greet you with the most sincere kindness and friendliness. The owner Jose is great with the wine picks and his wife is a genius in the kitchen. Rooms are comfortable... More

A wonderful stay! Came here after our Camino to rest, relax and visit the Rioja region. The village of Abalos is a hidden-away from time treasure and Villa Abalos a jewel there. Beautiful restoration of a timeless building, huge rooms with every comfort. Good tapas and wine and a huge, delicious breakfast. Kind people and a great ambiance!

We were touring the Rioja area and booked this hotel via Brittany Ferries. Located in a medieval village it is a real delight. The owners have completely renovated the villa ensuring that life was breathed into an original building with modern facilities with interesting features, such as the staircase. Rooms are spacious and comfortable. Once there, there is parking at... More

What a treat! Friendly, family run, beautiful region, best breakfast on our trip, quiet small town. We have had the privilege of walking in Galicia and now visiting the amazing Rioja region with its vineyards and picturesque landscape.

Finding this place was a challenge... being in the middle of a medieval village called Abalos. But like a gem, hard to find because buried deep underground but once unearthed, it's a treasure! Run by a husband and wife team, where the hubby takes care of front of the house and the wife, the kitchen. Both were perfect hosts with... More
