Such a great place to stay! Lovely room & ensuite, very clean & well appointed. We had a warm welcome on a cold February day, made to feel very at home in this cosy traditional Lakeland Inn. Excellent food and beer, favourite was the 'Tag Lag'. The breakfast was epic and set us up for a full day of walking,...

I stayed here regularly in an earlier life, most recently more than a dozen years ago, It was always one of my favourite pubs for a stay and I was concerned that new(ish) management might have spoiled it in some way. My fears were unfounded. The former landlord and his family had an enormous collection of photographs covering the walls;...

Fantastic weekend away. Warm welcome, great food, excellent beer and comfy beds. The staff were very obliging and we felt very looked after. This is how inns should be run. We shall be back. Thankyou.

We have stayed here many times and it is never less than excellent. Anthony is a charming, entertaining and knowledgeable host. Good menu i particularly enjoyed the salmon with asparagus rissotto and the daughter loved the sticky toffee. well kept beers, dogs allowed, and breakfasts that set you up for the day. This is a lovely unspoilt pub. Open roaring fire, good food and well kept beer. Staff here are great, really helpful fitting you in if you haven't booked and remembering that you went a couple of days before. Wish it was my local.

Lovely stay last week for a long weekend. Comfortable room, fab food and really friendly, helpful staff. A properly dog friendly place to stay. I love his place and can't wait to go back. Felt as if we were staying in a friend's house. Thank you all!

Having dined here in The Summer, we decided to return and stay for a few nights. Had a very relaxing break. We dined here both nights and had very good service. Staff are friendly and welcoming. Room was cosy, a little noisy as it was over The Bar, but that didn't bother us. Will definitely return.

We popped in for a drink and some snacks and we were welcomed like old friends! Stunning pub with bags of character! The barman was so welcoming and happy to help. I would highly recommended a visit! Food looked lovely although we only had enough cash for crisps!! Lovely local ales!
