I met up with my family in Newtown didn't plan ahead to book somewhere to eat. Googled places in the area and found Maesmawr. The gentleman on the phone was so helpful saying he could reserve a table outside for the five of us and our dog. It only took about ten minutes to get there when we arrived our table was already ready and there was also a large bowl of fresh water for my dog. We had a mixture of cream teas, roast dinner and a child's meal. Our whole experience was outstanding the service was top class, the hotel is gorgeous inside, toilets very clean and the grounds are lovely. I can't wait to go again. I highly recommend.

Popped in for breakfast on the way past after a weekend away. The staff are so attentive, very welcoming and lovely with my son particularly. Beautiful venue, beautifully laid table and very well cooked food. £15 each for a choice of breakfast including cereals, juice, tea, coffee and then full Welsh breakfast or eggs Benedict etc. It wasn’t clear on the website whether non residents could have breakfast so I phoned to check and had a table waiting for us. Definitely worth a stop off if in the area and fancying a change from a cafe etc.

We visited Maesmawr Hotel in early June for a 2 night stay whilst visiting family in the area. We stayed in 2 of the coach house rooms as these rooms are dog-friendly and we brought our cockapoo with us. Management and staff were without exception very welcoming, friendly and helpful. We had an excellent breakfast on the lawn on both mornings and also had afternoon tea on one afternoon which was also delicious. We had friends (non-residents) join us for drinks outside on one evening which was lovely and a special thanks to John who managed to sort our complex booking requirements with ease and a smile!

Lovely relaxing stay at Maesmawr hall. Feels like you are in the middle of nowhere but still very close to countryside attractions. I would definitely recommend dining in the restaurant. Breakfast and dinner options were plentiful and of high quality. This is an old listed building so expect old features to still be in place e.g. slanting and creaking floorboards etc. We stayed in a superior room which included a large bathroom, separate lounge and bedroom. The room was very spacious with lovely views from the bedroom and bathroom. Our room was up a narrow set of stairs which was not a problem for us but may be a problem for those who are less mobile. I’m sure this could be discussed in advance with the hotel to find a room suitable. The best part of the stay was the service from the staff who were all polite and attentive. Would definitely stay here again for a relaxing getaway.

Dear Guest, It is lovely to read your comments and I will pass on your kind words to the team. The building does have some lovely old features and I am so glad you appreciate the age of the building and enjoyed the facilities as they are. You are absolutely correct about the access to your room, not the easiest and we do try and discuss this access at booking point if we get to speak directly with the guests. It is lovely to know you would stay with us again and of course that would be our greatest pleasure to welcome you. Thanks again for taking the time to review your stay.

Historic Tudor manor house, situated at the end of long driveway off a main road. Set in its own grounds which are well kept. Not a place to dump the car and go walking, but Newtown is only a 10 mins drive away where there is a pretty walk along the river to Dolerw Park. The small village of Caersŵs is only 2 mins drive away - plenty of walks there for the more serious ramblers. The hotel itself has a main house with a coach house and function room attached to the side. We stayed in room 24. An enourmous room, with modern bathroom and comfy bed, it was also immaculately clean. We booked to have an evening meal. The food was excellent and sourced locally, also had good range of choices from steak to a burger, fish dishes etc. Service outstanding. Would like to particularly mention Andre. A Brazilian waiter who was attentive, courteous and clearly worked very hard - an asset to the hotel. Would absolutely recommend Maesmawr for a breakaway.... dog friendly too!
