After a long day cycling I really wanted to go to my room and have a cuppa. Greeted with the words "Sorry you are in a twin room, not a double because my wife has broken her leg" it was clear this was a business experiencing some stressful difficulties. Except the wife broke her leg in April and we did...

Originally booked for my wife and myself but in the end had to travel up alone. I was doing the Great North Run and wanted somewhere near Newcastle without being in the centre. Room was clean apart from a cob web or two and had tea making facilities. Ordered a pasta dish beforehand which was good, nice and quiet, got...

Thank you so much for your kind comments. Apologies if one of our two cats got into the kitchen. We do our very best to keep them out but there are 3 doors to the kitchen, one external, accessible to guests who often talk to David (owner/chef) and want info on the area and don't always close doors. A lot...

Lovely hosts, good home-cooked food, fabulous location - they even went out of their way to help with something after we had left. The location is isolated, so be prepared if you were expecting quick access to shops etc.

My three friends and I stayed a night to break our 'Coast to Coast' bike ride as it's the perfect location for an easy ride to Tynemouth the next day. We arrived late after a hard day of cycling and our navigation skills were a bit sketchy finding the place from the Waskerley Way cycling route, but the owner was...

I booked this online for us as a family weekend away to visit Beamish museum and Adventure valley . The location is stunning and the welcome was friendly , however the annexe room we were staying in was damp/ mouldy smelling , the room was adequate for us with two bedrooms one with a double bed and one with two...

Although we only stayed one night the welcome could not have been warmer. The rooms are very clean and comfortable with up to date bathrooms. The full English breakfast was good and generous even without all the toast and cereals. Our host was extremely attentive, helpful and most accommodating. The location is a little remote and surrounded by lovely countryside...

Although Bee cottage is a little off the beaten track once you arrive it gets better. The rooms were clean, tidy and warm. We did have a little problem with our shower and the mattress was a little uncomfortable but there were plenty of plus ++++. The views were lovely, the host was very welcoming. It was a traditional old...

We stayed here while biking the c2c in late October. Before arriving, we spent many hours riding through wind, rain, sleet, and fog. When we finally arrived, Dave was in the yard to greet us and help us with our bicycles, while Irene was welcoming us with a wave from the front door. She whisked away our sodden clothing to...
